      Testing out a program called dDo for a render on the model of myself I'm working on. My complexion is way too dark for this model, so I guess this is one of those things that I'll progressively try to improve on.

      Pretty happy with the test results, seeing how this model in particular is only at the 200k polygon count (compared to the one that was like 3 million+). I wanted to see if I could have the 14k model, but I'll have to do that with normal maps in another rendering program (Marmoset toolbag in particular). This was just to get into the habit of finding some kind of procedural workflow that I'll hopefully integrate to other projects in the future, and the requests here as well. Going to have to do the eyes, and maybe the teeth and mouth eventually as well.

      And the ear area, I pretty much gave up on that for now. This isn't something to take so seriously, I just want to get into a workflow that I can repeat over and over.

      I changed the constraints a bit so I don't look like the Joker with a creepy and abnormal face expressions. And I increased the focal length to stop the distortion. Though I don't think I can avoid the big forehead part. Going to model a female for someone next, and try to animate her in the future.

      The Head will be covered up with hair, it's hard finding a profile view of the person I'm referencing the model from, so I'll have to deal with the 3/4 and front views I've collected so far.

      Her hair is supposed to be pink, but I'll edit that later on, just needed a texture to make UVs from. The hair that's balled up is a tactic used to do one polygroup at a time (I think I had over 10 sections of the scalp separated to make things easier). Will post a video sometime in the future of the progress.

      Video of the sculpting process so far (720p):


      • I will try to make her lips look less like she had Botox
      • I will paint in the eyebrows at some point, I have them sculpted, but I seem to have some minor challenges painting them. But this could be done with a simple diffuse map later on.
      • Added eyelashes, hopefully they don't make her look too weird
      • I know there's openings in the hair, it's still trial and error for me, especially since I have to deal with another challenge of converting them to hair systems from Curves for Maya
      • The inner canthus of the eye is obviously nonexistent, but I hopefully will find some way to mix that in. Though I think doing so might make things worse, so yeah


      For now, I think I'll go ahead and create some diffuse, normal, ambient occlusion, and other maps after UVing the lo-poly model. After that, I should be able to have a lo-poly model that I can then animate, and hopefully synch in the audio clip the individual wants for the facial animation.

      Colored in eyebrows, and attempted to make her lips look less like she had Botox.

      Will start creating blendshapes now since UVs are set up for the head for the facial animation. I probably should do UVs for the eyelashes, and merge them with the head to save some hassle.

      Animation Test #2 rendered with Vray in Maya 2014 (Test #1 is similar, except it's just recording the animation in the program with no eye blinks rather than a rendered one with eye blinks). Man, that preview thumbnail's lighting has a major contrast than the actual animation.

      Bad quality, but wanted to test things out with the playblast thing on Maya. Better than waiting 3-4 hours for a render. Still don't know how I'm going to solve the issue of doing the minor lip movements, but at least the major movements are out of the way.

      Work in progress of Kaguya. After reading the latest Shippuden chapter, I just had a strong urge to sculpt this chick rabbit goddess from another dimension. I think I spent most of my time trying to figure out how to do the lips. I never did lips for characters that are typically 2D. I just know the hair is going to be a pain to UV map, a real pain.

      There's a lot of reasons why I got into 3D related stuff, but I just had a general liking of animation and modelling for quite some time now.

      And a short animation. Funny how this is my first full body animation. Shouldn't have combined all the objects into one mesh, because I'm having a difficult time putting in the maps for them, which is why the ear piercing, and hair looks weird. And I should've hidden the tail as well before rigging. Oh well, trial and error.

      I should've used a different shader/material to render that horse out. It just feels weird having to make a horse in a female's body.

      I already have the body sculpted, but it's not really anything worth rendering right now since it's going to be covered in clothing (hopefully) soon. Thanks to clothing, I can skip doing details on the body since it would just be a waste of polygons anyway doing that.

      Time-lapse of the model before the clothing here:


      ~ 5 hours and 14 minutes for the sculpt before experimenting with clothing. The trial-and-error alone probably was 2-3 hours, or maybe more.
