will going to bed late mess with achieving lucidity?

I like to go to bed at around 1-4 a.m. So if I was trying to do a WILD should jump straight into trying the WILD or should I use WBTB and wake up at about 8 if I went to bed at 2? I would assume WBTB with the wild even at these times but I'm not sure.

I'm no expert but I'd imagine you would need to sleep a while first. This way the cycles of REM sleep are longer and closer together. So I think the WBTB would be better. I would imagine that the WILD before you got any sleep at all would lead to an OBE not a LD. But once again I'm no expert.

Going to bed late doesn't help at all. More sleep time means longer REM cycles, and therefore, more probability of lucidity.

What time you go to bed makes no difference at all. Wake up after about 5 hours of sleep for a WBTB attempt.

Yep, I second that. The hour on the clock does not matter, but still do WBTB.

actually going to bed late messes up everything for me, I dont know about other people but when I go to bed early I have natural wake-ups. When going to bed late, I just have no awareness in my dreams and very small chance of becoming lucid, also I don't wake up until late in the morning.

IMO sleeping very tiredly equals to not being able to dream much because your brain is too tired to work over time through sleeping.

For WILDing it may not matter but for DEILDing and waking up naturally to write in DJ's and have MUCH better chance at having a DILD, I find it very important to go to bed early.
And also, I can imagine you just falling asleep during your WILD attempt if you go to bed more tired than you should.
IMO, find a balance, it just makes it easier

Going to bed late will not always equal staying awake for more than 16 hrs. Wake up at noon? Then bed at 4 AM with WBTB at 9 or 10 AM. Staight forward if that is what we are talking about. Or, some people think the OP means going extra hours with out sleep. That probablyneeds cleared up.
Does any one disagree with me, that the first version I gave is straight forward and not an issue?

I think it may effect lucidity slightly as you would be more tired the later you stay up therefore making your brain more tired which will make it harder to be aware of dreaming. I go to bed at like 10pm on weekdays and wake up around 7 I can recall a few dreams easily, but on the weekends I go to bed at 2pm but I get around 8-9 hours sleep but I never seem to recall my dreams that well, so my guess is that for the best chance of going lucid sleep earlier.
