    Thread: Can the action itself of writing down dreams in a Dream Journal give you lucid dreams?

      Can the action itself of writing down dreams in a Dream Journal give you lucid dreams?

      I have noticed several times that when I really pay attention to my Dream Journal and write down dreams several mornings in a row, I have started to get lucid dreams after only a week.
      So couldn't this mean that simply writing in a Dream Journal can actually create lucid dreams for you?

      Dream Journals are usually recommended for the fact that they help you remember dreams, but has anyone else actually started to get lucid dreams from this routine?

      Not just the action, but rather mindset.
      It does increases chance of getting DILDs, since you pay more attention to your dreams when you do dream journal you become more aware of dreaming state as well as of dream signs and such, thus giving more chances to question reality or even spontaneously become lucid, and additionally you are probably thinking about lucid dreaming when writing dream journal too.

      I know in ETWOLD SLB states that after one week's dream recall and journaling, some people may be having lucid dreams already before actually trying techniques.
      My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

      Also i think if you spend like 3-5 minutes journaling after every dream, and if you can do it 3+ times a night, that is almost like multiple short WBTBs.

      therefore you enter another sleep cycle with more awareness.

      Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way
