      Was it false awakening?

So last night after 4h of sleep I decided to try SSILD technique seriously for the first time.

I stood up for a moment and turned the light on to write down my dream, however I couldn't really remind myself what i was dreaming about. I abandoned it and went straight back to bed.

I attempted SSILD, but I think I made a mistake of analysing and constantly thinking of doing it. I also think I shouldn't have turned on the light cause I couldn't fall asleep after doing all the cycles.

BUT here is what happenned next. I tried to fall asleep for 20 minutes and I even did RC to make sure it's not a FA. Then i thought "Ohh, f*ck this, I did something wrong and I'll will try my best next night" And then I tried to sleep, but I couldn't! I kept rolling over when suddenly my alarm clock rang and it was already 3 hours later lol. I'm sure I wasn't dreaming about anything.

I'm new to LD and i've heard that FAs occur a lot in SSILD, so was it one of them?

F.A. is when you have a dream in which you wake up and feel as if it is real. In a non-lucid state it is just a dream about getting up, but in Lucid dreaming F.A. can cause you to loose lucidity, because you can be convinced your dream has ended. Say you are dreaming about flying and then wake up; you need to do an RC before believing you are actually awake. You may still be dreaming, as in F.A.
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

Ssild does have lots of False awakenings I use that technique alot and I can tell you lots of the time I think I've failed at the technique, I think stuff this and give up then I do a Rc just for good measure even though I know I'm awake and Boom! I'm actually dreaming lol watch out for the fa's when using ssild always have a Rc in the back of your mind to back you up because false awakenings are really convincing you feel awake and even may try go back to sleep during one you'll come across them eventually no matter what technique so make a habit to Rc upon awakening

This night I think i had a real FA cause i woke up at some point of the night after doing SSILD and i thought to myself that i failed again but didn't do RC for some reason(?) and i don't remember any dreams.

Btw is it fine not to go out of bed when using SSILD? Cause i find i hard to fall asleep afterwards.

Also, when you want to write dreams down you might have FAs after your previous dream ends. Like you are subconsciously ready to write the dream now, but REM has not ended yet, leading to a FAs. Every time you wake up from bed, do a RC. Always! It will get to a point that you will do a RC during a FA
