Sometimes the dream tells you to become lucid

Last night I dreamt that I was working in a call center. I went elsewhere, then go back to the call center, except everything looks different and I can't find my way anywhere. I think to myself, "A building's floor plan changing on its own like that is a good dream sign. I need to remember that the next time I have a dream." Then I realize I am dreaming! I can't change my dreamscape much, but I can fly. I start to feel myself waking up, but then I remember someone here saying to focus on sensations in a dream to keep myself anchored in the experience. So I feel the tips of my fingers. It prolongs the dream a little bit, but I eventually wake up.

Does this happen to others, where you discover a certain type of dream sign in-dream, then use it to become lucid?

My dreams have yet to tell me to become lucid…. but,

In terms of dream signs, Yes! I’ve RC’ed in waking life mainly to what I would classify as “oddities” (which I categorize as including virtually anything, from a flicker of light, to a creaking door), as well as mundane, everyday things (like entering a certain room). The sequence was that in a dream my memory would be sparked upon encountering the thing, leading to a suspicion of the dream state. The rest was left up to my decision in that moment to do a RC and amplify my lucidity. This would only happen though, if I had prepared myself to notice those things in waking life, as well as keeping up other daytime work (to both remember my dreams, and to build confident intention that I would notice these things in dreams).

So yes, I would often use these things to become lucid, either because they have a good chance of appearing in a dream, or by virtue of incubation.

I was in a fender bender with a guy on a forest road, he didn't want to give up his insurance information at first and said "Why does it matter? You're going to be lucid in a few minutes anyways."

And that's how I realized it was all a dream XD
