      Question Question...

Hello, everyone! I just started working on lucid dreaming two nights ago. My main goal is to have a lucid dream, and to fly. The only thing that has happened in my dreams from the past two nights was me saying, "If I could fly..." and so on. So, how long does it normally take for one to have a lucid dream? I have a dream journal, I do reality tests about 3 times an hour, and I daydream about lucid dreaming a lot. (Like right now, when I am supposed to be doing hw. )
So, yeah. How long does it take? I am SUPER anxious.

Unfortunately, there's no answer for that. It's different for everyone. Some people have them within days, for others it can take months. Some people are natural lucid dreamers, others can only do it with rigorous practice.

While it is excellent to have a goal, don't become too fixated on the goal alone. Enjoy the path towards it as well. Enjoy your dreams, learn from them, let your awareness grow, and while your doing all this, sooner or later lucidity will happen, and you'll be flying before you know it

Thanks for the quick answer! I hope I can do it in days. I just became obsessed with it the second I heard about it, so....That's me for you. I'm kinda impatient. But thx for your support!

      Hi annabeau, welcome to DV.
You may find you have a first LD quite quickly, but if you are impatient you may get frustrated with any lack of progress and then start to stress about it, which makes things worse.

Stay enthusiastic, but realise that it could take a while to get good at LDing, so be prepared to take this as a step-by-step journey.

Most importantly, don't let anyone put you off - you WILL succeed, but remmber that it is a skill that you will probably have to learn.

Thank you! I haven't told anyone else about it yet. I probably will get frustrated with it, but no way am I going to give up!

Be patient. I've been going several months and still almost nothing, but not giving up yet!

I forgot to say that since I have started, I have been waking up in the middle of the night. I NEVER wake up in the middle of the night. What could this mean???? Nothing, maybe?

You've always been waking up in the middle of the night. Everybody does, even if they don't notice it. You're just noticing it now, which is good progress as your awareness is increasing.

I always used to sleep through, but in the last couple of years since trying to LD i now wake after each sleep cycle at the end of REM. As dolphin said, it's a good sign that you are more aware of these awakenings.
I really meant don't let anyone on here put you off! You may find you get mixed reactions if you tell people to their faces that you LD. I only open up to people if they seen genuinely interested in remembering your dreams and stuff, so I've only told a few people close to me.
