Between DILD, WILD and DEILD, I have found that DEILD can be pretty exhausting indeed. I don't know why. Maybe it consumes more energy, more willpower than the others. I do know what you mean, as I have even lost motivation for lucid dreaming for a while when I was training with this technique.
Chaining lucid dreams is not that difficult when you have the correct mindset, but maybe the DEILD has the effect of increasing in length the Sleep cycle and/or the REM period, and maybe that has an effect on the body or the brain, as the normal program slips out of adjustment. That's only an hypothesis, not a fact.
My advice would be to focus on other techniques and once in a while attempt a DEILD. That's what I do anyway.
