      Welcome to the forum!

Optimally, you don't want to have to move for FILD, so if you can get some kind of alarm with an automatic shut-off, that would be best. I don't know if you can purchase an alarm clock with that capability, but I know there are several Android (and probably a few iPhone) apps that can do that.

As for MILD, it's hard to know what's going wrong with MILD from your description - just that "it never works". How long have you been trying it for? How often do you do Reality Checks? Do you keep a dream journal? Are you pairing it with WBTB?
"Going through life worrying about the little things is like cooking with motor oil instead of cooking oil. Sure, you can still probably pull it off, but it'll leave a bad taste in your mouth in retrospect." - Me, apparently
