Is there a way to increase the chance of a dream sign/cue appearing?

Let's say you want to rely on a dream sign which appears less than 50% of the time, is there a way you could actually *put* this dream sign in a dream? or increase the chances of it being there?

      Thanks!

Dream signs seem to be much like birds: the more you think about them, the more of them seem to be present. As you solidify the importance of something as a dream sign, it seems to be the case that it will naturally come up more often in your dreams, due to your "obsession" (for lack of a better word), with the thing in question.

A lot of my dreams involve trains, and once I realized that, I've had more train related dreams. Just keep noticing and giving importance to the signs, maybe even writing those signs as another colour in your dream journal, to slowly tell your subconscious "this is important, I care about this!"; the more of them you notice, the more of them you'll notice.

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention is that, ideally, I think, you should focus on gathering a number of dream signs, and not just rely on one. Keep observing your dreams.

      Thanks for the advice!

I have noticed something similar to that myself, that what appears a lot in my dreams seems to be related to what I was thinking about/obsessing over all day....I will certainly put more focus onto the dream sign and try to find other workable ones to go along with it

Also I agree with the point about multiple dream signs. Find as many as you can, because things can change over time. Bathrooms used to be my best sign but that sorta went away. But now I have others. And I think dream signs are mind training to develop more critical thinking in dreams. You don't always "need" a dream sign to realize you are dreaming, but they definitely suppliment your opportunities to become lucid.

I don't know if we can increase the chance of a dream sign appearing per se... I think, however, that we can increase our awareness to them.

Which is why DJs are so important. Once you've taken the time to write it all down, it's much easier to find patterns. But, at the end of the day, awareness is the key factor, IMO.

thx for the advice guys I take it on board (also sorry for the late reply :p). I agree with the ideas of critical thinking and becoming more aware to the dream signs. I've noticed lately the importance of remembering dreams not only for this, but also because if I don't remember them well enough, it becomes a blur as to whether or not I even noticed any during sleep. I find dream recall gets the dream world more on a level with the waking world, which is good.

For me my signs are being at college or being on a highway or being at an apartment. I had a few dreams about beaches but not anymore. I really need to get back into dreamwork. I am trying. It's hard to hold onto dreams.

I agree with LucasPotter. We have a greater chance of increasing our awareness of our dreams. I think you're lucky that you do get to lucid dreams. Or maybe I've had some but I couldn't identify if they are indeed lucid.
