      Yay! I did it.

Thanks for the help. This forum and the Lucidity FAQ helped me to finally accomplish a lucid dream. I've done it before, but not on purpose. I started trying on Saturday, and I had one this morning. What happened is that my dream started fading, and I knew that reality couldn't fade, so I "spun" and it worked.

I was in the driveway, totally lucid. My dog that died a few weeks ago was with me, and I petted him some. I had to spin again to stay in it. Then a few seconds later I tried to stay in it by spinning a third time but I waited too late and woke up. So it was like a 15 second lucid dream, but I remember that it was crystal clear; it was like reality. As I develop my dreaming ability, surely they will get longer and easier to stay in right?

Congratulations! The first lucid dream is always the most exciting, because those who haven't experienced it before simply don't understand how real it seems. Also, congrats on managing to get the spin technique to work for you a few times. The more lucid dreams you have, the better you will get at remaining in them. Good luck!

Yes it was. I was really close to him; he meant a lot to me. I didn't change much of anything while in the dream. I was on the porch, then walked to the driveway by my truck. It was a cool overcast day, no people anywhere for miles, and with my dog there. Some of my favorite things.

Thanks for your support guys. Hopefully I'll have some more soon and be able to contribute to this community.

You already have, you have given me an idea. My younger sister died about 6 weeks ago. It is still to painful to attempt, but maybe in six months or a year, I might try to find her...

i dont know if this sounds bad or anything, but seeing dead relatives and friends and stuff are actually a pretty good way of knowing that you are dreaming. it has worked for me with my dog, my grandpa, and my car.

not necessarily, it could be happy, since you get to spend more time with them.

that's kind of a rather sensitive area to joke about.

      C. None of the above.
I've seen my grandparents in dream before, and it was a very peaceful feeling. It was like they never left. I wish I could see them again.

Don't worry, I have seen the wreckage that suicide brings to a family. I have lost 3 relatives to suicide.

I meant in an LD. I was able to watch a few old VHS tapes with her in them the other night. So, I guess that means I am doing better!

      young lucidity

i used to have lucid dreams as a kid...sorta, i used to be dressed up like peter pan and fly around my house and save my family members from "bad guys" but i could only fly if i concentrated real hard...it sucks hella bad now cause i lost it, and its been years, so shit, yah im still trying...its weird it helps me remember my dreams when i have a drink or two before bed(alcohol)...anyone else have anything else that helps to do before going to bed to have better dream recall?

      cheers,

      m@
