Haven't had an LD for ages!

I was making such good progress with lucid dreaming over the course of a few months, but then about a month ago, just after my best LD ever, they just stopped. I haven't had a single lucid experience for four weeks, whereas before I had them much more frequently. I did get a bit slack with dream recall, could this be the reason? I recently started dream journaling again but it hasn't helped at all yet. I don't even have the "dreams about lucid dreaming which aren't actually lucid dreams themselves" anymore. Any advice? I was doing so well! :/

I agree with mike. The most harmful thing you can do right now is stress out about the whole thing and put pressure on yourself. just persist and vary it up a bit and you'll be back to lucid dreaming in no time!

I had a semi-lucid experience the other night so hopefully that'll be the end of the dry spell!

Yeah, I'm going through the same thing you are. Well, kind of, I guess. I've had some pre-lucids (things that remind me of dreaming, but I don't break through) and that's been frustrating me... if all my pre-lucids were actual LD's, I'd have had like... 7 LD's this month instead of my measley 1 second one.

I don't know about you, but when I start feeling dry spells and frustrated, I tend to start tweaking with my LD technique... trying to "improve" it, but I seem to make it worse. So, my first advice would be... go back to what you were doing when you were having success and stick with it!

Right now, I'm trying to MILD out a permanent dream sign. Something reliable and something with a decent amount of frequency. I'm tracking this experiment in the link below, and over the past two weeks, I started to feel some MAJOR frustration. Then, I chilled out, and completely backed off for a couple of nights. Had a couple of very awesome non-lucids and decided to just enjoy these things as they come.

I also noticed that while I THOUGHT that for the past two weeks that this experiment of mine was not improving or progressing... I decided to add in a weekly analysis and found that... indeed it is! So that made me think of something. All we see is the day-by-day. Even WITH recording dreams in a DJ, sometimes it's hard to tell if how you're training yourself to induce LD's nightly (the ultimate goal for most people!) is really working, when day-by-day, you get another "failed" pre-lucid. Another missed dream sign. Or another boring dream that didn't even HAVE dream signs. But if you look at the larger picture, you should start to see things taking shape.

It's absolutely true what they say... for non-naturals, this takes WORK. And dedication. And no matter which technique you choose to go with, it's going to take time to learn it, adapt it to your needs, and figure out how to make it effective for you. It's slow... but the prize is so ultimately rewarding

Consistency is key, or so I find it anyways. Took me about a year of on and off LDing, multiple dry spells, and whatnot until I finally got the hang of it. Nowadays I'm up to a LD every few days at the least.

Also, try experimenting with different techniques. I only started having so many LDs when I tried chakra meditation. I don't even meditate that often, but yet it seems to have induced so many LDs.

Don't worry. At all. I stopped trying to LD for months, and I've had a few without trying, but months apart.

Even when I was trying to LD, I might have averaged 1 LD a month or so.

Basically what I'm saying is, you'll get more. It seems LDing is like riding a bicycle, once you learn it, you never forget.

I have the same problem, but my dry spell is continuing for almost a year now! whyyyy!? :< I have some pre-lucids but thats all (dreaming about dreaming, or dreaming that someone's dreaming that someone else is dreaming, or dreaming that i'm writing the previous dream i had in my journal) i feel im close, but nothing. And i havent stopped keeping a DJ since years, i have recall almost everyday. I do reality checks and i also am doing one method from Laberge's book (trying to notice 4 daily targets IRL). There are many appearing dreamsigns, and i fail to notice them all the time, every time i fly, im pretty sure that its real life and i asume i can do it for real!(flying is my most occuring dreamsign, also the weather) GRRR :C I cant say that im frustrated, but im pretty pissed about it now ..whole year!
and if you had your first lucid dream before ever heard of lucids and without trying, does that mean you're natural lucid dreamer? what exacly does natural lucid dreamer means?!

I consider myself a natural, even though I have a low frequency rate of "natural" LD's. I consider naturals to be people who just LD without intentionally inducing them. I could be wrong, but that's the only definition I could come up with!

I think pretty close as you. I consider naturals people who had lucid dreams in the past without knowing the terms "lucid dreaming" I am a natural. Since I was a kid, I had "these dreams" where after waking I would swear: "I know I was dreaming. I realized I was in a dream" However, people who finds out what "lucid dreaming" but they never had a lucid before, from my point of view, they are not naturals. As learning the meaning of "lucid dreaming" changes your whole subconscious and memories and might trigger a DILD.

People who gets a DILD without any inducing but they already know what lucid dreaming is, they are well pre-disposed for lucids, but definitely not naturals.

I've been two weeks without lucids after a major lucid (End of the world) But lately, my live has been work, work, work and more work so I know the issue Anyway, I am very determined I will have a lucid tonight or reaaaaaaally soon!!!! It's a new month and my two beautiful wings are gone, so I must go to a mushroom path and burn them all with pyrokinessis to get both medals in a single shot... an easy task!

      Hehe

I did have LD's before I knew they had a name, so by that definition, I'm a natural, too. But... it's such a low spawn rate :S It feel like a warcraft quest...

Well... Lucid or no lucid, natural or no natural... there is nothing in between.

Someone is natural or is not, you are natural. You might have a small spawn rate, oh well... but still, you are natural

Same as me! And i think i read somewhere before that u have flying and weather as symbols(i beleave it was you?), and i steal them from you coz i really got them friqently, i think they're most common sybmols for me also, but before i never thought of them as such .. so thanks for that!
But after reading along this forum i find that ppl who discover about LD's in this site, and seeing how evryone accomplish it that easy, are much likely to have a lucid dream sooner and easyer. Than ppl who have read this term before, like me maybe have a different view. and there's the fact i haven had a single lucid dream since im a member in this forum.. i read about LD's by accident about 2 years after having my first LD, then i found the forum.
I have some advice for you Taramon 777, the only method that worked for me at 85% succes, and after a short time of effort was something like WBTB.
If im asleep by 12:00h i set the alarm for about 2 or 3 cycles of hour and a half (like 3hours, or 4 and a half) i wake up at 4:30h stay awake for 30mins go back to bed at 5:00h sleep one cycle of hour and a half, wake up again in 6:30h, again sleep 1.30hour till 8:00h and so on. In my case after the 30min awake, everytime i got up i was remembering a dream vividly , the second day i had a LD. But u have to put effort and think about it, and if you dont wake up a single time when hearing the alarm it doesnt work (lately when i try this i just wake up in the morning without remembering how i turned off my alarm, i guess u have to be rested.. also it doesnt work if i go to bed after 12:00h, again for the same reason)
im gonna try in again soon, i have done it only a couple times, but it aways worked if done properly.

Yay, another one! Um, those aren't my dream signs, but if I do fly in a dream, it usually does make me lucid, but only depending on what the plot is. Usually, I become lucid when I am just me, and I do something abnormal, like fly, or use a magical ability. But if I'm portraying a character, like Sailor Moon, and I fly or use an ability, well, then that's "normal" and I don't catch it!

Yeah. I knew it was SM, but I was not 100% sure and I did not want to screw. You grabbed her just if she is falling asleep, goes very well with this community

Yay!!!! Did it!!! I swear! (will post later) It was 05:30 am woke up to recall a dream and I was determined to go lucid. Last month I completed it from the night from the 2nd to the 3rd. I did not want to do it later this month so it was my "due night" and I did both tasks (plus almost doing one of the Tasks of the Year if the stupid public phone worked and teleported me to the Age of the Dinos
