      The limited free time technique

I haven't been working in LDing for a LONG time, and with school, I don't have time to WBTB or reality check all day. I am assuming that there are many others who agree. So, here is my idea of a new thing to try.
Take about five to ten minutes before you go to bed. Then do SOMETHING, anything, just do it with confidence. For instance, you could close your eyes, stand on one foot, and spin/hop around frantically. Just do something extreme, and do it with only lucid dreaming on your mind. Also, make sure to keep this attitude as best you can,
"Ok, I'm trying a new technique, and it is fast easy, and simple to do with limited time. It WILL work. Even if it doesn't though, what do I care, because if I am not going to do this technique, I wouldn't really do any other because of my limited schedule and huge amount of work during the day. So overall, I am confident and I don't really care if this fails."

My theory is that the mixture of confidence and the unusual event in a regularly usual schedule right before bed should lead to DILDs.

Give it a shot if you want to, or don't. It doesn't really matter. If you do give it a try, post back here with your results, comments, or advice. Thanks!

I have once. I had a dissapointing semi lucid. I was sort of discouraged, but then I figured at least SOMETHING happened, and it's not like it was a technique that took much effort.

I think this is a really interesting idea. One thing that I'm worried about is that as I continue to attempt to LD, I'll convince myself that it's impossible for me to do it. But, if I'm trying a different "technique", then I won't feel that I've failed and failed at a certain one. If I'm making sense.

yup, it makes sense. Oh, and Id411, did you try this last night? I wasn't able to because I had to finish a late night chem project, but I am going to tonight. Also, along with your results, post what you did. The last time I tried this, I stood on one foot, and hummed the national anthem. Then I poured water on my eyebrow and did 3 push ups. Obviously what I did was something stupid and pointless, but maybe that unusual stupidity and pointlessness is what it takes to help remember to become lucid.
I can't wait to hear how it worked for you guys, don't forget to post back with results

Yea I did give it a try but didn't work out because I was just too tired.

It worked!!! hah! Anyways, I did the things I listed earlier, plus a couple of extra things to stupid and emberrassing to describe. Also, while doing them, I constantly thought of my dream sign (which happens to be not being able to yell, then not being able to speak at all, always in that order).

My dream that night was of being lost in the ocean on a boat. We found an island, and two other people went to check it out. Sharks came and one person went underwater. It was a huge panic until I saw more sleek, gray shapes in the water. They turned out to be dolphins. I was excited, so I tried to shout, "DOLPHINS!!!!". but nothing came out. I remembered doing the technique and thinking of my dreamsign, but I almost lost lucidity because the dream was so real. So I became lucid and started flying. Once I became lucid though, my dream lost a lot of vividness. Guess I know what I will be working on next....

Anyways, I am really excited. I can't wait to do it again and see if the LD wasn't just luck.

NOTE- The different things I did took a total of about 5 minutes. The technique takes longer to work than I hoped.

I'm happy that you are discovering techniques
I'm also working on something, but takes more time.
the thing I'm working on is also based on facts, so, that gives me more confidence.

I hope you can finish it, and give it in a tutorial form =)

      bye!

WOW! Congratulations! I really think I'm going to try this. I think if nothing else, doing something unexpected right before bed would also just help me to focus on having a LD. I am going to try it tonight and see what happens. If it works ... well, I will be so excited I won't know what to do!

So, do you think you'll try doing the SAME crazy stuff or different whacky stuff?

I dunno. Obviously, doing the same stuff will make it not so crazy any more, so I think I will take brakes from this technique and vary what I do. Don't remember to focus on your LDing component while you're doing it. For me, I focused on my dream sign, since it occurs in almost every dream. I guess you could also focus on noticing any unusual stuff that would mean you were dreaming, but it probably wouldn't work too well since it is so vague.

Good idea. I have some pretty specific dream signs that show up fairly regularly, so that will probably work for me. I will check back in with results tomorrow.

Well, I tried it and had some success. I did a bunch of weird things -- standing on one foot for a count of ten, turning around, doing 5 jumping jacks... Anyway, so then I went to sleep and had a dream where I was looking for someone. I really wanted to find this person and was getting upset about it. Then, I stopped and thought, "Hey, it's a dream. I should just make this person appear!" I woke up then. So, while I didn't get that 'lucid' feeling, I really did know that I was dreaming.

It may not sound like much, but to me, it's huge! I was starting to think I wasn't getting anywhere at all and I really think that's a huge step forward all thanks to this technique!

Hmmm... I don't need to, as I have LDs already...

but I'll try it for the purpose of experimentation into new techniques, and report back with results.

It means you have to keep your mind on the intention of lucid dreaming, while at the same time trying not to lose focus on what you are doing. If you let your mind drift off, doing the unusual things will not mean as much to you. As I have said in earlier posts, you could also try keeping your mind on your dreamsign, which is what worked for me.

This sounds like a really great idea, most of the more formal techniques don't really work for me so I will give it a try tonight.

Infinitly greater than you are... Damn that missing E.
