bringing the dream world into the real world

i don't kow if this happens to everyone who sleep walks/talks but it has to me sometimes when i'm dreaming i suddenly wake up and open my eyes, but i also bring my dream images into the real world and i know that i'm awake (i have my eyes open), but i'm still seing the images from my dream, ex- i was dreaming that i had a dog and then i opened my eyes and i could still see the dog right next to my bed i started talking to it, but it all felt like i was stuck betwen the dream world and the real world and you can't believe how hard it was for me to make the image disappear. could this be part of what happens when you sleep walk/talk.

When people sleep walk they are NOT dreaming. EVER! Sleep walking accours in stage 4 sleep and people often have no recolection of it the next day and they are not dreaming from it either. Your body is in a sense paralized during REM sleep preventing you from just getting up and walking away.

To the point I've had similar things. It was probebly just the fact that your memory was so vivid of the image and also the after-image effect people have. I've also had expierences where I was able to feel and to a limited extent move both my dream and real body. I was only able to barely twitch my finger IRL though because anymore than that and I would have completely awakened. Its very possible you expierenced something like this as well although I still find it hard with your eyes open. If it was dark it might have been possible.

      Woof Woof! :)

I have never actually experienced this, but does this happen only in the moments after you wake up? Or do you sometimes see the same dog (or whatever you dreamed about) throughout the day? Does this experience happen often? If so, you might want to talk to a therapist just to cover your bases. If nothing else, there might be something else going on that you would be wise to look into. It may just be that you are very intouch with your dreams, but I just think that no one should have to put that much effort into making the image disappear.

i am telling you guys it is really weird because it somehow mixes reality with dreams. i am looking at some part of my dream and i see it on my sorounding reality, knowing that i a awake and that those images are from the dream. could it possibly be some sort of lucidity? or how sleep talking/walking works.

how do you know you're awake? are you doing reality checks or just assuming? i have not had this experience, but i have heard of many people/times when they thought they were awake, only to discover they were really asleep and dreaming.

I'll try doing an RC, if it happens again.

yes, that's a good idea. personally, though, when i wake up first thing in the morning, i have a very hard time remembering to do RCs, because i am still all groggy and mostly asleep. i'm just not thinking of it.

but see the weird and not cool thing that i'm trying to say is that i am actually moving and that is why i connected it with sonambulism, and how do i know i was moving? well because i woke up my room mate.

hmmm, that is weird. this is pure speculation, i have no idea if it's actually possible or not, but perhaps you have false awakenings so realistic and vivid-seeming that your sleep paralysis wears off? i don't know.

Good timing for the thread. This happened not too long ago from an afternoon nap, though I did not fall asleep. I laid really still about an hour. At one point, an image popped into my head, and several more images popped in and they all looked related.

FYI: Yesterday was the first day that I played Mario Kart on Game Cube.

There was a tree in front of a blue sky. Then bright colored large block letters (i.e. the red, green, yellow and blue of Nintendo games) were spinning around. The second scene was the same, just a little later in time. Then the next two got into screens showing races, one was Mushroom City I believe.

It was like I already was dreaming, but when I laid still enough, I could finally perceive the dream. Remember, the first scene I saw spinning text, so it was more than just a picture.

anyone that has sleep peralisis regularly can tell you that this is totally normal to hallucinate during SP

I have been experimenting with this state of mind and I must say it is a fun state. I usually see bugs and other stuff very real looking. Sometimes I have to question myself on if it is really there. I've never experienced it other then waking up from sleep so I do think it is safe. I'm starting to believe this state of mind might explain UFO abductions. One of my coolest exposures to this type of event was watching images from a disco ball. The disco ball is hanging right above the window over my computer so when I was waking up from the dream state my dream started to play out inside the disco ball as reality started to move in. Some of the other events that I have asked about might be related to this state, but I like seeing what others think before I tell my own feelings. i highly recommend exploring this state if you can figure out how to get there. For me it happens naturally and is not a everyday event.
