Class A EVP: I stepped into the Civil War

      Hey ladies and Gentlemen

I went to visit the famous Oakwood Cemetary in Raleigh North Carolina today and part of their HUGE graveyard there is section where 1,600 NC soldiers lay..They had fought in Gettysburg...What you are about to hear is an EVP i took while sitting down in a closed off hut type thing (but had 2 entries and 4 huge open areas where you can look out into the field of headstones--just imagine the 4 areas as huge window holes but no widows..)

I was sitting down and you will begin to hear gun fire like its off in the distance, but then you will hear a reloading sound of a bolt action rifle (you cannot miss that) because it was about 3 feet away from me....During the gun fire i clear my throat (because obviously i do not know that this was going on) and then i later ask "Is there any spirits that would like to speak..." then its dead quiet.....

here is the link please tell me what you think:

      Interesting.

Did they have bolt action rifles in the Civil War?

Being a military area, are there soldiers from later wars there?

from the research i have been doing they had bolt actions later in the war...Spencer Carbine was a bolt action or drastically simliar...The strange this is, where i was sitting there was a bench and it had carved in it, it was said something about the snipers of the civil war...

Also after i asked the question "Is there any spirits that would like to speak" it goes quiet but a few seconds after the cut off point of the recording i gave you a voice can be heard, it sounds like "No" or "Go"

Yes i believe they have soldiers from both the World Wars but do not mark my words, it was my first time visiting, the place is ungodly huge and i went because i heard stories of it being haunted, and now, i have some evidence to put toward that claim...

I didn't know EVP could be done with a digi - I always thought the phenomenon had something to do with magnetic tape properties.

I wonder what would happen if I took a high quality mini-disc recorder someplace? I even have a place. In the woods near our up north getaway, the kids and I found a grave in the woods last weekend. Our daughter found it - about an 8 foot by four foot cross of stones, a headstone that looks like it could be 80 or so years old - without a word or mark on it... and the weird thing is that it looks like somebody local knows who is there, as there are items that are certainly no more than 10 or 15 years old sitting there - the remains of a potted plant, a rusty wreath stand, and a couple white aluminum crosses nailed on nearby trees. I asked around, but nobody knows who might be buried there. It is on public land, and there is nothing else anywhere near it - it's about a mile off the nearest road.

      Hmmmmmm.

      **edit**

Here's an image of the grave. Sorry - don't mean to jack your thread, but now you've got me thinking. I listen to your recordings and others and they all are so fuzzy and low quality. The minidisc would bring better than CD resolution, dynamic range, noise floor and signal-to-noise ratio to the table. You'd be able to dig stuff out without the very high noise level.

      The grave:

I'll never understand the ghost premise. What is the point exactly of clinging to Earth after you die? If you had something left undone...what exactly could you do to fix it staying in that one spot where you died for all eternity.
Or is it that an impression of who they were was left on the spot? Given that case then anyone, dead or alive, could leave imprints on the spot.
Poor ghosties. btw when I click the link all I get is an error.

There's two possibilities for ghosts. One is they leave an imprint behind, most likely because of a violent death. The second is their spirit actually stays because they cling to tightly to life. The only reason I can think of for doing that is fear, because they don't know what will happen to them if they pass on.
