Why doesn't someone prove or disprove shared dreaming?

Can't you just get some subjects, try it a lot, if it works, ask the people separately what they saw and what happened?

It's a complicated thing to test. WakingNomad gives a good explanation here:

It can not be proven at all. Even if information was shared it only proves something strange happened, not what.

Maybe if something like the DC Mini from Paprika gets invented, then yes. Otherwise, I'd have to say it goes unproved because the affirmation of it happening involves direct experience and nothing "tangible" that can be observed or taken away from it. I'd love it to be proven, but I think it'll take some sort of scientific device that can record dreams before we can even begin to officially test shared dreaming.

Most likely no one's proved it for the same reason no one has proven or disproven the existence of aliens. Sure, some people say they have evidence, but most of the proof is blurry pictures and sole witness accounts. Like Neo said, there's nothing really observable, just the witness accounts of the shared dreamers. Without any decisive evidence, they'll just look like conspiracy theorist kooks.
