Sleep paralysis, how to I achieve an LD instead of OBE?

Is it possible to control this? I do not want an OBE. I just think it's scary if they are real. I saw a section of clarity's tutorial and she said if you relax, you can OBE. The reason I do not want an OBE is because I don't feel it is right for me spiritually. As in projecting myself. Don't ask me why but I don't think it is good. Do all WILD's transition begin with OBE's? Or is there something I can do to make sure I don't get one.

Moved to Beyond Dreaming, you'll likely find more responses here.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

I understand where you are coming from! astral projection does at first sound really scary

to answer your question, its actually hard to AP unless you mean to. if you are WILDing and mean to lucid dream, then that is what will happen. The common differences are - in a traditional AP you will feel yourself lift or split from your body. In the lucid experience, you zoom, spiral your way, fall or wake in a dream. You can actually stop the experience if you are uncomfortable with it.

Besides, WILDing isn't even the best way to be lucid, and traditionally it is an astral projection technique. Basically, a lucid dream from a WILD is a failed astral projection

it might help you to understand astral projection better, and how dreams relate

when we are lucid, we are aware that we are dreaming. but when we astral project, we are aware that we have separated from our physical body. But in both scenarios we have separated from our physical body.

astral projectors believe dreams take place in the astral. So a dream is a type of OBE to begin with. your dream is like a private world in the astral, where you are safe from everyone else. or rather, where everyone else is safe from you. outside of your little dream bubble, is the rest of the astral world.

we dream in our isolated little worlds since birth. so its only natural that it feels wrong to leave it. outside, you'll be interacting with other beings in the astral. some are heavenly, others not so nice.

but the same is true for earth. everyday you walk outside and mingle with strangers. some are nice and others aren't. some are rapists! some are serial killers! yet most of us don't live in absolute fear that every stranger we meet is out to get us. for the most part, we get along. We know there are bad people out there, but we take our chances anyways because its worth the risk.

mingling with astral beings more scary? think of it this way, someone on earth can KILL you. But no one in the astral can.

why are our dreams isolated astral worlds? its a two fold protection. one, to protect us from that bigger astral world - where anything goes. And two, to protect the astral from us! Think about it. How many people have violent dreams? If they don't understand that beings in the astral are conscious, whats going to stop them from being violent and causing trouble? were like children being tossed in a playroom because were just not grown up enough to run around in a city.

the astral has its own protection for violent minds. karma. but the karma in the astral isn't slow like ours, taking years to manifest. It'll manifest right then and there. If you mean to hurt someone in the astral, then someone means to hurt you. If you mean to be friends with someone in the astral, then someone means to be your friend! Like attracts like in the astral.

a lot of people have been scared of astral projecting because they perceive it as dealing with death. but I think understanding that dreams are also apart of this astral realm helps to change that perspective. or maybe it does the opposite, makes you think of dreaming as dying every night

why would anyone want to astral project?

imagine visiting another planet, and actually conversing with real beings. don't gotta worry about gas, food or hotel money. and the best part, you return safely back to your bed. at least, thats the appeal to me. can't say much more, I've never actually APd

That made me NOT want to do it even more I don't really want to do that. Something, if it is real, doesn't seem right If I accidentally did that, do you know how I could get back?

I know exactly how you feel. Except it's not that I dont want to astral project as much as I am frightened in the sense that I dont understand it. I mean, if I could convince myself that no harm would come to me it'd be a different story. It's kind of like trying to convince yourself to go onto a rollercoaster when you're a kid. The thing is, that I just dont want to meet any particularly mean characters in the astral plane. If there weren't any, that'd be awesome. Im sure that isnt the case though.

Like the other guy said, it's probably really hard to astral project accidentally, even when trying to WILD. It just doesnt seem like something you COULD do on accident or it would happen all the time. And even if it did, you mistook it for a dream anyway so whats the harm.

Mehh that too. I just don't want to do it because it sounds shamanistic to me. Christians and spirit walking don't seem to go together

Astral projection = OBE = LD. It is the same thing, different interpretations.

I'm not so sure. I believe in God more than practically anyone else, and I wouldn't mind Astral Walking. By the way, is it possible to go Astral Walking from a lucid dream? or do you have to begin with an Astral intention?

if you have real faith in christ, you would have no fear

why would you be afraid to travel into the astral? do you want to meet an angel? Do you want to meet Christ? All things are possible. Or are you going to live in fear your whole life of the unknown, out of some ignorant idea that God wants to keep you in the dark? Or worse, that your somehow such an unworthy soul God doesnt even want you to experience anything spiritual or mystical?

I believe in the God that happens his hands widely and offers us truth. Not in the God that says do not ask, do not question, do not know, do not, do not, do not

the truth is, you're just afraid of that which you do not understand

don't use Christianity as an excuse of your own fears

have you ever WILD from a lucid dream? it works a bit like that

from the lucid dream you intend to return to your body and project out. Thats the idea at least. I've only tried it once in a dream when I first became interested in the astral

I yelled 'take me to the astral!', to..well the dream. I slammed back into my body. Then I immediately spiraled through a tunnel up. Everything went black, and when I opened my eyes I was in a new world, as vivid and solid as can be. Including my own body. I didn't feel light or airy, I felt as I feel right now. Breathing, weight. I was in a temple of some sorts and there were monks chanting. One greeted me, and I asked him if I was in the astral

      he smiled and said yes

and I was like "yeah right, you gotta be joking!"

I wake up shortly after. I doubt my own experiences, but the experience was awesome. WILDing from a dream, lucid or astral, doesn't matter. Best thing to do while lucid is WILD

APrs believe dreams take place in the astral. Yet they also say you need to go back into your body from the lucid dream and project back out to reach the astral-public-area.

Well I had one strange dream where the environment was enclosed with walls. I wasn't trying to go to the 'astral', I just wanted to escape the enclosed environment. Every time I go through one of these walls - which were thick - one of them was eight feet thick - my lucidity would increase. And the dream environment would become less and less surreal and more and more solid.

Eventually the last barrier was a glass wall. I didn't need to break though it this time, for my convenience, there was a sliding door.

That was the last wall I went through, and the environment on the other side was so damn real - I can't even tell you what the difference is after waking. Not to mention my dream characters were telling me, that I was their dream character! After examining my environment extensively, I only found one big difference, I could fly

      Im interested in the astral

but I do complain to astral projectors all the time, how do you know if you are in the astral? and not a super vivid lucid dream?

the best answer I got so far was, if it was the astral, you can revisit the place again and again. And revisit people again and again. Unlike dreams, that seem to reconstruct themselves every night

so until I visit the temple monks again - its a lucid dream for now

the way i know when i am on the astral

well its pretty easy to know for me, i just talk to someone
usually in lucid dreams, my dc's are dumb as shit, i cant carry a conversation with someone who dribbles random shit....but on the astral is a other story
i can ask questions, and they actually answer my questions!!!

How you achieve "astral", and how do you distinguish astral from regular LD? (I wonder if I ever get answer to this two simple questions).

      the way i was taught

when your within a lucid dream, your in a type of bubble, where you have upmost control, total control... blah blah blah.

when you wish to journey beyond that bubble, that leads into the astral planes.
but some people just find them selves on the astral without even being in there own bubble...
i suggest, just talk to someone, if they dribble crap, ur in your lucid dream bubble, if they actually can carry a enlightening conversation, your on the astral.... but getting from one bubble to the other can be tricky stuff...
i find my self asking sometimes, how many bubble are out there.....

Now that the forum has changed, I don't know why this is still going. I really got my facts straight and don't believe in OBE's. I have tried many times and completed it right. All I got was a lucid dream.
