    1. Sitting for the SAT

      by , 05-19-2017 at 08:46 AM
Morning of May 19, 2017. Friday.

I am in an unfamiliar room which seems to be part of a school. Still, there is a large sink present. There are school desks perpendicular to the sink and counter. I get the impression that something is causing the water to overflow. A pencil and at least two shirts had been deliberately stuck into areas (by mischievous students, it seems) to keep the water running while the sink does not drain. It is not that common for water induction (as dream state induction) to have negative frustrating implications as here (as even many flood dreams do not have negative associations). I remove the pencil and clothes while complaining about someone jamming it and possibly causing water to ruin the wood (from it running over the top of the sink to the wall).

Later, I am looking through about six or seven comic books. Curiously, an old classmate, Ann L, is whispering to me about different things. She seems to think I am too old to be reading comic books (as I seem about eighteen or so in my dream). I show her that some of them are adult comics but she does not seem to understand. There is also a Woody Woodpecker comic book, but its content relates to a human farmer doing work with a tractor in a barnyard. (This scene is bizarre on another level, as Ann L had not even crossed my mind even once in many years, so I have no idea how or why this character appeared.)

The teacher had not been present all this time and some of the students had left. Others are annoyed. The (unfamiliar) teacher arrives in a taxi. At this point, the setting has changed and seems modeled after my high school’s open lunch break area near the school chuckwagon (though there is the typical ambiguity of a combined indoor-outdoor essence). We are going to take the SAT test. I read through several pages of the test. Interestingly, even though I am not lucid, the writing is clear to read and does not change at any time. One phrase says, “Describe a dream you had, in detail”. Another says, “Describe why you are angry at this test”. There is one area where I write my name as well as needing to fill in the circles that contain the letters of my name. I am aware that whatever handwriting is on the pages is read by OCR, the filled-in circles by the original method.

Without realizing it until later, the induction event was partly precognitive. After waking, it turns out that Zsuzsanna had discovered that a window we had not used in a long time was jammed. Part of the problem was a pencil with a strange figure on the eraser end that was not one of ours. I had to use a screwdriver to pry part of the frame out (both the vertical part and the sill) to get the window to become unstuck (though it may also have gotten like this from rainwater swelling it slightly). I had my dream before Zsuzsanna noticed this, though at least one dream per day (validated to have been seemingly continuous even before we met in reality by looking at her old journals) is based on something she had been thinking about just previously without telling me, usually the most unusual or unlikely feature or event - which validates a possible biological factor relevant to survival. Still, as in this case, the precognitive element is sometimes mixed in as composite synthesis (though often all the visual dynamics are exact). However, Zsuzsanna also told me she used a wire to unblock the laundry sink recently (and had not told me) and aside from the typical debris, found an artist’s paintbrush stuck in it.

    2. Tooth and Blood

      by , 04-10-2016 at 10:10 AM
Morning of April 10, 2016. Sunday.

In my dream, I am in an unfamiliar building which seems to be in Japan, or at least I am aware that the building is Japanese. (I have only been in Japan for a short time for one day in my life in reality in my move to Australia.)

After a time, a tooth on the upper right (which I do not even have in reality - which is ironic) feels slightly loose. I move it with my tongue. I end up pulling it out with my fingers even though it is not that loose.

After this, I am aware of my mouth bleeding from the area I pulled the tooth out. I go to the sink (which is illogically in the unfamiliar bedroom I am in, on the opposite side of the room from a large window) and keep spitting out thicker blood. After about five or six times, I start to wonder how much more blood I can lose (it seems like a lot) before I start to feel differently or even pass out. No one else seems to be around at that point. It slowly dawns on me that I am dreaming, which I find somewhat amusing in that my dream self fell for the losing teeth scenario yet again (though it was more common when I was younger).

Other than when it is relevant to an actual real-life focus (such as recently having a tooth pulled or having an actual toothache), I sincerely believe that dreams of losing teeth have no “interpretation” at all as it seems a common waking transition component, which in actual cause, is simply the dissolution of the dream and the cessation of the dream self (since using one’s mouth is a main way of acknowledging one’s consciousness and wakefulness to others and the unconscious self cannot speak - so the dream renders a focus on the fictional dream body’s mouth as losing teeth - pretty simple), just as falling, rising into the air, or suddenly tripping, or even seeing something falling from the sky is (of which also typically have no “interpretation” and are simply a natural form of the waking transition). Still, I think this bleeding may relate to acknowledgement of the energies of my internal dawning consciousness and physical form in a similar way that tripping over in hypnopompia is acknowledging the dream setting does not physically exist during the waking transition. The color red also dominates a dream when I have been asleep a bit too long.

I will note however, that when I was younger, most such dreams proved to be precognitive of which teeth I would actually be losing in a specific order. The only way to explain this would have to relate to some sort of foreshadowing regarding body awareness that is presently not understood (which of course does not explain all the other types of more detailed literal and visual prescience). This one is the reverse though. That is, it is the literal memory of already having lost the tooth, though assigned to a common hypnopompic distortion.

    3. The Electric Imp

      by , 09-05-1982 at 03:05 PM
Morning of September 5, 1982. Sunday.

There is some sort of creature or imp that lives in a cupboard under the kitchen sink at my brother Earl’s house in Florida (though he had not lived there for several years in reality), though which later seems to be in Wisconsin at a motel. My dream and the offset sequence seems to take place in late morning.

The creature, which is apparently made of electricity, projects small bolts of lightning up through the drain somehow (as if the pipe is not there and the creature is directly under where the water would flow). However, I am never directly threatened by the imp and the lightning seems mostly inconsequential. I visualize the imp as probably only being about a foot tall.

At one point, he sounds like a human talking, but with a sort of hollow or metallic sound. It seems that Earl will be unlikely to live in the apartment anymore until the “electric imp” is gone. I do not see this imp at any point, only the smaller patterns of lightning coming out of the drain now and then. Although the imp may be talking to me (though I do not focus on what it is saying), I do not speak at any point in this dream or the following offset segment.

In an offset dream, though still part of the same sequence (without waking), I find myself in an unknown parking lot (though is possibly near Shopko on the north side of La Crosse). I see Earl sitting in the back seat of an unknown car, on the right-hand side. His face seems distorted, without the potential for it to be a real human face (which my dream self finds inconsequentially puzzling). Still, he reminds me of a handicapped male in a television commercial from years ago, who said, “I’m a little tired. I’m alright though,” when emerging from the water of a large indoor swimming pool.

The last scene is a transmuted water lowering waking symbol (subliminally associated with someone emerging from water as analogous to leaving the dream state), even though the electric imp was already a factor of water lowering waking symbolism. A parking lot is also a common waking space symbol for me, though typically the second-from-last dream of the sleeping period (as this was) while a porch is typically the final waking symbolism setting of a sleeping period.
