    1. House Party / Keg Tap Fail

I am at a house party with some of my friends. I walk into a couple of different rooms and find people hanging out and drinking. I go outside and find a friend of mine who says that there is a cop walking up the road. The cop walks up and lectures everyone about drinking. After the cop leaves, I walk back to the house and find that there is a bar set up on the deck. I ask for a beer and the guy gives me an empty glass. I look at the glass, then at the bar tender and ask why the empty glass. He says he can't get the tap to work. I watch him struggle with the keg tap for a while, then I wander off.

I'm messing around with some kind of demo software on a server and I'm trying to remember exactly what it does. It seems like it runs some kind of data collection. The server is on a table and is all banged up. I remove the cover and see that one of the memory slots has some corrosion on it. I pull the memory card out and half of the card edge is missing. It looks like it just corroded away. I grab my camera and take a couple of pictures of the server internals. The camera is behaving strangely. The auto-focus is not working at all so I put it in manual. After failing at a couple of pictures, I give up.

I am helping a friend work on a small single-engine one-seat plane. We are both sitting in the seat, tightly wedged between the sides of the plane. There is a panel full of buttons and controls and there is the typical control stick in the middle of the floor. We try to move our legs over each other's for a bit so that the stick is free to use.

We're tracing an electrical issue of some sort which is preventing the engine from starting. I pull off a large metal panel on the dash and find a fuse panel underneath which has some really primitive looking fuses. The fuse is a bar of phenolic with a small wire wrapped around it several times. The ends of the bar have holes so that they can be fastened to a bolt to allow the current flow. Each fuse is labeled 10 Amps and there are 6 of them stacked together, so I assume that means that this is supposed to be a 60 amp fuse. They look very corroded and rusty.

I reach in and wiggle the fuses around a bit and the engine suddenly starts. My friend reaches up and pulls the canopy down and says, “Fuck yeah!!! Let's go!” I pull the throttle control and the engine sputters a bit, then revs up quite well. The prop on the front starts spinning, but it looks too small to actually make the plane work. Just as I am about to pull the throttle control more, some guy walks right in front of the plane while talking on his cell phone. I look around for a horn button but cannot find one. I push up the canopy and yell, “Hey, dumb fuck! Hang up and walk before you get your head whacked off!”

I pull the canopy down and pull back the throttle control all of the way. The engine spins faster and starts to move the plane forward, then the engine sputters out and stalls. I wiggle the fuses again but nothing happens. Reaching under the seat, I find a box of spare fuses and parts. The box has at least 100 of those fuses in it and a spool of the fuse wire to wrap around them. I say, “Why didn't the dumb fucks put a breaker in there instead of a fuse? How bad would it suck if the fuse took a shit while in mid-air?”

I'm hanging out on the back deck with a bunch of relatives. I look up at the sky and see some strange black and gray clouds with red outlines around them. They almost look like they were drawn with crayons or maybe something from a video game. As I watch, they are growing larger and are filling the sky quickly. I quickly decide to retrieve my camera from the car which is just as the bottom of the steps from the deck. I open the door and grab my camera bag from the seat.

I run back up to the deck and pull out the camera. I power it on and pull off the lens cap, then aim for the sky and press the shutter button halfway to see if auto-focus will work. The built-in flash pops up, so I lower the camera and check the flash settings. I turn off the flash and try again only to have the flash fire before I am even done aiming the camera. I check the settings again and see that the flash is on 'Auto', so I turn it off again. When I raise the camera again, the auto-focus is just hunting and will not lock onto the clouds. I switch to 'Manual' and try again only to have auto-focus kick in just before the shutter triggered.

I'm visiting with the folks, trying to sleep on a roll-away cot on the living room floor. The house is right next to a truck stop or some type of fueling station. I can see a truck parked at the edge of the lot closest to the house. I reach over and press the reset button on the computer because the screen keeps coming up blank white. Suddenly, a voice speaks from my Bluetooth headset which is laying on the desk. I turn off the headset and he's still talking. I pull the battery out of the phone and the voice continues. I get up and throw the headset across the room, then I see the guy standing in front of the window.

As I'm standing there trying to figure out what's going on, my folks wake up and walk through the room, talking about some kind of sandwiches that they're making in the oven. I follow them through the kitchen area, then I walk out into the other room. When I look up, I see the guy standing in front of the window. He reaches up and opens the window and climbs in while retrieving a small .22 revolver from his pocket and starts to walk back the hallway toward the bedrooms. I snatch the gun from his hand and fire the two rounds that were in it at him. He falls face-down on the floor. I yell to my dad, “Give me a gun.” and he hands me a junky old gun that doesn't work. Again I yell, “Give me a loaded gun that works.” He hands me a single bullet which I load into the gun. I walk up to the guy and shoot him in the back of his head. The bullet leaves a little mark on his head, but doesn't really do much of anything. I struggle with the gun for a moment to try and get another bullet into the chamber. It looks like a revolver, but it has a canister of bullets on the side kind of like a paintball gun. I try and shake a round into the chamber, but it just doesn't want to work right.

My dad walks out of the bedroom and as he passes, I tell him that I made a mess in the living room. He replies, “Like, OK...” I say, “What are we going to do with this?” He says, “I guess we'll have to carry him outside somewhere.” He walks up and looks in the room, looks around for a bit, then keeps on walking. As he walks by the body, he says, “You didn't get him in the head, you shot him in the face.” I said, “No, I shot him in the back of the fucking head, but this junky-ass gun didn't really work.”

Becoming a bit aggravated, I tear the canister off the side of the gun and manually load the revolver chambers. I walk back to the guy and shoot him In the head again several times. I say, “I think I got him this time.”, then I wake up.

(Note: After an exhaustive weekend running sound at an electronic music festival, I get back home and decide to take an early evening nap after surfing the 'net for a bit.)

I am sitting in my truck in the driveway of my parent's old house. My Mom is in the driver's seat, talking to Dad on the phone and I am in the passenger seat. My brother is sitting in the back seat playing with a small electronic game. The weather is mixed rain/snow and the snow is building up on the trees on the mountain. Occasionally, the snow falls from the trees and a couple of small branches break off as the snow crashes to the ground. My brother jumps out of the back seat of the truck and runs off. I roll down the window so I can hear the snow falling from the trees.

Mom finishes up on the phone and tells me that Dad's flight was diverted because of the storm and he is currently in Delaware. She said it would be another 2-3 hours before he could get a different flight home. I told Mom, “I'll pick him up at the airport. Just let me know when he is supposed to arrive.” I look at my watch and see that it is 8:88PM. I just roll my eyes and look out the window again.

I see my brother running into the woods. Once into the woods, he fires off a couple of shots with his rifle. I get out of the truck and quickly follow him into the woods. When I get there, he tells me that he just threw the smaller rifle back the trail because it jammed. He walks off and reloads the larger rifle. As I walk back the trail to retrieve the jammed rifle, I see that there is a horse hanging out in the woods just a bit further back. As I approach, I can hear that the horse is laughing and exchanging jokes with my brother. I walk up to the horse and exchange a hi-5 and a fist bump. As I walk away, the horse says, "have a good one, dude!", then laughs some more.

I walk across a small bridge over a stream and look at my watch again. It says 8:88PM. I tap the watch face a couple of times and look again. It still says 8:88PM.

Suddenly, I wake up. I lay in bed for a moment with the palm of my left hand firmly planted against my forehead. Once I confirm that I have clear recall, I get up to write this DJ entry. As I walk to the computer, I cuss myself for missing so many obvious dream signs.

I am working on some of the networking equipment at the office. I punch down a couple of cables into the patch bay, then run patch cords over to the switch. As soon as I plug in the last patch cord, I hear a click followed by a fan spinning down. I look to my right to see that one of my co-workers had just turned off the power switch on the firewall. She looks at me and says, “I turned it off because it was getting too warm.” I replied, “You do know that you just turned off the whole Internet, right?” She said, “Oops.” and then walked away.

For some reason, the firewall is out of its chassis and is sitting on a shelf. The bare circuit board is resting on a telephone book and the power supply is dangling off to the side with its cable plugged into the board. I reach back over and turn on the power switch and the fan spins back up. When I pull my hand back from the switch, I bump into the cables and knock the circuit board off the telephone book. The front of the board touches the metal shelf and makes a couple of sparks. Immediately, the hard drive in the firewall starts making the click of death.

Realizing that the firewall is now completely fucked, I wander over to the R&D lab to see if there is an extra firewall laying around. As I walk by the boss's office, I see that his door is closed and the doorknob is missing. I knock on his door to tell him that the Internet will be down for a little while, but I get no answer. I continue down the hall to the R&D storage room. When I enter, the light will not turn on. I look at the switch and it is in the up position. I flip it down and up again, but no light.

I suddenly wake up, thinking about the light switch not working. Chances are, I was on the verge of lucidity, but shocked myself awake instead. I tried to re-enter the dream, but ended up having another short dream with zero recall.

I'm walking around a mall parking lot, talking with my brother who is sitting in his truck a few spaces away from me. As I approach, I see am old yellow bicycle parked in front of his truck. My brother says, "Go ahead and try it."

I try to mount the seat, but it's a bit too high. When I look at it, I can see that the chain is a bit rusty and is not quite seated on the rear sprocket. There is a large silver object attached to the rear wheel which looks like a motor. I walk the bike forward and push on the pedal to straighten out the chain. Once it looks ok, I hop on and start to ride.

I pedal my way across the parking lot, then notice that there is a rocker switch on the right handlebar. I push the switch and the bike starts to accelerate. Once I reach the end of the parking lot, I squeeze the brake levers. The front brake doesn't work at all, but the rear is able to slow me down. I turn around and press the switch in the other direction. The bike takes off and starts to pull the front tire off the ground.

I ride back to where my brother was parked, but he is gone. I look around for a bit, then wake up.

(Fragment 1.) I am sitting in my old bedroom at my parent's house, hanging out with my brother. We're talking about switching bedrooms because he needs the bigger room, and I can take the smaller room because I also have an office downstairs.

(Fragment 2.) I am at my parent's old house, hanging out in front of the garage with a couple of friends and a bunch of relatives. We're sitting at a table, talking and looking at a some kind of electronic equipment. One of my friends gets up and gives me a hug, then starts humping my leg.

(Fragment 3.) I am inside the garage, messing around with a small lawn mower. The mower deck has been removed and the front has been heavily modified. After a bit of struggle with the controls, I start the engine and try to ride it around, but the machine is way too small to ride. I go back in the garage and pick up a bigger seat, but can't figure out how to attach it to the mower.

Notes: The common ground in these is the parent's old house. These may be fragments of a larger dream, but it's all I could recall upon waking.

I am driving a friend's 6-wheel drive RC vehicle around at a park. The vehicle has a camera mounted on it and there is a small LCD monitor mounted on the remote control. I try to climb a set of wooden stairs, but I cannot see anything in the monitor. I walk up over the hill and find that the vehicle is upside-down. I upright it and climb the stairs again and it makes it all the way to the top. When it peaks the top, one of the wheels falls off.

    12. Alternator Repair / Flying Truck

I am at a truck repair shop, picking up my truck after I had them replace the alternator. I am arguing with the guy behind the counter about my repair. He claims that they only repaired the alternator, when I had asked them to replace it entirely. He repeats that it is fixed and he was able to save me some money by just fixing it. I pull out a credit card to pay for the repair, but when the card is swiped through the reader, it falls apart into several pieces. I pull out my wallet and see that all my other cards have also crumbled into pieces.

Another customer is talking on a Blackberry phone, when it suddenly falls apart into several pieces. I watch the internals from the phone fall into two pieces and land on the service counter. One of the pieces still has some illuminated LEDs on it. The guy who was talking on the phone says it won't work anymore, but I am convinced that it still works. I pick up the two big pieces and mash them back together. The display illuminates and displays hieroglyphic-like characters. The buttons no longer have the number caps on them, but I am able to dial my cell phone and hear it ring. I hand the guy his phone back and say, "It's fixed. Give it a try." He looks at me puzzled, then walks away.

I walk out into the parking lot and locate my truck. As I am walking toward it, I can see that there are jumper cables hanging out from under the hood. As I walk around, I open the door and look inside. My ignition interlock has been removed and there is a bundle of wires hanging out from under the dash. I stick the keys into the ignition, then walk around to the rear of the truck. The bed is full of high voltage electrical equipment. There is a large high voltage multiplier and several large transformers in the bed.

I'm not certain what induces lucidity at this moment.

I become lucid as I get into the driver's seat. I turn the key, but the battery is too dead to crank over the engine. I try the key again, but it will not start. I look into the sky for a moment, then summon lightning to give the battery energy. A large bolt of lightning strikes the jumper cables and the engine starts. I shift into a gear and push the accelerator pedal to the floor. The truck speeds up and I decide to run over everything in sight.

I crash through fences, buildings, and several other vehicles. After crashing through nearly everything in sight, I hit the dirt embankment at the edge of the parking lot. The truck jumps into the air and starts to fly. I fly away from the shop, then I wake up.

I am trying to drive an old 1984-85 Toyota 4Runner, but the manual transmission is producing unpredictable results. Every time I select a gear and release the clutch, the vehicle goes in a different direction. Most of the time it goes backwards, but sometimes it goes sideways or forward. After stopping at stop sign, I become frustrated with the transmission's inability to drive forward so I get out and walk.
