    An Insomniac's Dream Journal

I have a pretty terrible habit of not recording my dreams. I started this as an attempt to finally get back on track with my dream recall and general interest in LDing. Let's hope it works.

    1. Day 108 & 109: Hey, Me.

by , 05-30-2018 at 06:33 AM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Fell asleep at: 11:00 PM

      Woke up at: 7:00 AM

      Dream 92: Reflections

In the car with my brother, daytime. We're driving down the highway. My brother next to me is holding the phone camera to my face, and I'm trying to get it off of me.

I managed to steal a glimpse of myself in the mirror. It was oddly clear and high res. I think it looked a little more attractive than I do in WL (Heck, I felt like Dreamy Luigi from M&L: Dream Team. No real difference except I looked better).

      Dream 93: Ham and Anger

In the kitchen with my sister and her boyfriend, morning. They had just made me food (Migas with ham on the side). I was also watching Hulu on the Switch and I had my headphones on (The ones I lost a couple days ago).

My cousin (Let's call him Quiet J, because why not) walks in and, being as standoffish as he is, says something to me while failing to acknowledge I was wearing headphones. I remember it being some kind of insult but I didn't want to make him angry while he was there, so I let him get his food and go to my sister's room.

I ask my sister what he had said to me. She responded with something I don't quite remember. I then told her, annoyed, "I didn't ask how 'pretty' he thought I looked, I'm asking 'what did he say about me?''' That shut her up real quick and the dream ended shortly thereafter.
    2. Day 35: Dud

      Dream 42: Zombie Run

Daytime. School grounds. My vision is slightly impaired as the dream is noticeably more "cloudy" than the ones that came previous. Though that lies more in the fact that I had woken up and went back to sleep afterward. My mom goes inside the office building (Which is in the exact wrong location by the way) and tells me to stay outside while she holds a meeting.

I divert over to the side of the building, going straight, when something alarming catches my eye. Four guys wearing zombie makeup and carrying machine guns are standing right on top of the roof of the school. I'm a bit frazzled by this, and I'm stuck in the middle of asking why they're there and just plain wanting to get out of there.

I ask the one closest to the edge, "Hey, what's with the getup?'' And he responds, "The Zombie Run, dude. It's going to start in a few hours, we're thinking we could...give them a good scare." For some reason seeing four shady looking guys armed to the teeth with explosives doesn't immediately make me want to run away, instead I just say "Oh yeah, that thing." and we went our separate ways.

I come across two ginormous 18-wheelers behind the building. It seems an old man and his grandson are bickering about something. The grandpa in particular. As I approach him, he gets off his truck and asks me to help set up for the Zombie Run. Seeing no way out of this old man's request, I respectfully take his offer. He then hilariously scolds his grandson, telling him that this 'total stranger' was more willing to cooperate with him than his own grandson.

I would then come to realize why his grandson didn't want him around.

Later that night, he and I took a ride in his truck. The street looks vaguely similar to the one in my town. The grandpa is now completely hammered and is now taking the wheel, with a random student in the passenger seat. He is completely out of it, almost bordering on falling asleep, when I realize we're headed straight for another truck.

"Right! Go right!" I yell in his ear. He just barely woke himself up and swerved to the right, avoiding a collision with said truck.

      Dream 43: Billiards

I'm at what's "supposed" to be my house, a large wooden building that looks more like those 'things' they have at certain parks. I can't quite remember. I'm wanting to play video games on the large flatscreen TV in the living room, but my sister pulls me aside and says she wishes to watch home movies. Due to some personal reasons I won't get into, I deny it, and make up an excuse as for why I should get to play in the living room. Her request unlocked a sort of hate/sadness emotion within me, and I just wanted it to be over with.

She is getting visibly more irritated as I go on.

I say, "How about some gambling, huh? Every time you come over you just 'have' to bring a chalupa board with you do ya?"

I finally get the memo, and just decide to plug in my stuff elsewhere.
    3. Day 34 & 1/2: ""Midday"" Nap

by , 03-21-2018 at 05:04 AM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Day 34 & 1/2:

      Fell asleep at: 7:50 PM

      Woke up at: 10:30 PM

I tried to induce a WILD as I was falling asleep, but then I got too excited and ended up postponing my sleep ten minutes ahead. I decided it was better to just leave it up to a couple mantras before I went to sleep. And, prepare yourself, this entry is going to go real dark real quick.

      Dream 40: Wonder Science

Me and my family were coming back from HEB when we see a large van with about a thousand large cables running out of it. A large scientist-type figure (Who just vaguely resembled my old Chemistry sub) comes riding on his bicycle, which I can only assume gives power to some of his instruments inside the van.

He gives us a lecture about the power of following your dreams, how he's currently doing, and tells us to do the same. He calls his particular brand of science "wonder science", in reference to how he researches and tests things that he is passionate/wondrous about. He hands us all business cards and then the dream ended.

Dream 41: This is where it gets dark.

Again, my increased daytime awareness has almost completely transferred into my dreams. It really feels like I'm there and that I at least have partial control over my surroundings. My vision is also no longer as blurry, a tell-tale sign of awareness.

So, I'm in my sister's room, just talking to her about...Well, I can't quite remember. I even notice that my elbow is very pink-ish, and I joke about myself being a half-gum-half-man hybrid. In any case, I come to realize one of the pillows has three blood stains on it. I ask my sister about it, and when she turns around, I knew exactly what was going on.

She had three cut marks on the underside of her arm. She told me something about how, specifically, she does this, and I immediately tune her out. I don't need 'that' in my life, I'm gonna go see if someone can help. I go out the door in a terrified stupor, and then the dream ended.

      Dream 42: Miscellaneous Nonsense

A bunch of random, interconnected chaos. One scene has me (Along with two other friends of mine) descending a large well. I pull out an HUD similar to most video game creation tools and build platforms below me as I go down the long, winding well.

In the bottom of the well lies a magma dome. A large, circular platform made of solidified magma surrounded by a lake of lava. For some reason, the temperature doesn't kill me within 20 seconds of being exposed. I have to connect three 'keys' into this large black obelisk before the lava rises. I do just that, plugging in three stone keys into their designated slots.

I am then booted into a dark hotel room. I see silhouettes, but I can't quite make out who it is exactly. I'm guessing a man, about adult age, just sitting around in his chair.
    4. A Pretty Eventful LD

      Fell asleep at: 10:43 PM

      Woke up at: 6:00 AM

      Dream:

Looking up random crap on my laptop, I begin to have thoughts of deja vu, "What if this is a dream?" I thought to myself. "That's ridiculous." I also pondered. But, I had to confirm my suspicions somehow. The internet is already a weird and, frankly, terrifying place, anything that seemed odd could be interpreted as 'expected'. So I just told myself I was dreaming, and I was.

Nothing specifically tipped me off to the nature of the dream itself. I just went with my 'gut instincts', luckily those gut instincts were correct. People didn't act like they should in the dream, places that I had never even seen before were just outside my neighborhood, but I digress.

I got up from my bed, when I realized that my vision was utter garbage. I told the dream to improve my vision, but to no avail. I try again, no dice. I went towards my desk and grabbed a comically oversized and uncomfortable pair of glasses, which helped a little bit. Then I try to fly. I begin to vibrate aggressively for a couple seconds before blasting through the roof. Somehow, I end up back in my room, unscathed and just as anxious.

My sister and her boyfriend open the door. I tell my sister ecstatically, "(No I'm not giving her name away), you're in a DREAM!!" She rolls her eyes (Of course), and her boyfriend just sorta shrugged it off. My other sister is also there, but for some odd reason, she's pregnant (This isn't the case in waking life). We walk out on the town upon my request.

There's this security guard lady who's checking people into a large building. She lets everyone else go and I go last. I try to phase through the gate, ubt she checks me in just as the gate opens for me. So, that didn't go so well.

We wind up in this train station/mall type area with a boatload of people all around. I try to follow my sister and her boyfriend through the crowded building, but increasingly lose distance. Then, out of the blue, a lady carrying a bazillion shopping bags and an overloaded shopping cart, all of which say "That's The Joke", comes barreling by.

I wake up right after that.

      Notes:

      1. This is actually the first extended lucid ream I had. Ever. It lasted about 20 or so minutes long and I didn't need to perform even one reality check along the way.

      2. I kept the same level of lucidity throughout, and just sorta went along with the dream. I think it might've been a layer 2 or 3 lucid dream, which is astounding for me.
