    1. Known Key Symbolism 2018: Dream State Indicators

      by , 01-09-2018 at 07:05 PM
Afternoon of January 9, 2018. Tuesday.

In my previous entry, “Known Key Symbolism 2018: Common Liminal Space Settings (1)”, I explained how a porch, a parking lot, and a store checkout are known forms of dream state symbolism that typically mark the last segment of my dreams during the waking process (and of which have featured in thousands of my dreams as such since childhood). As also stated, there are many more, though typically that which symbolizes liminal space in the dream state is that which symbolizes liminal space in reality (just as that which represents a liminal space divider in a dream is that which symbolizes a liminal space division in reality, for example, a fence, a wall, a presumably closed window or door, or even a ceiling if one becomes focused on it, even the contrast of ground and sky in some dreams). This entry relates to another common factor of my dreams, what I now mainly refer to as dream state indicators (referred to as dream signs in most older entries, though others use that term in a slightly different way).

In the hour or so leading up to going to bed and going to sleep, what do people do? Many people take their shoes off. They probably get undressed. They are eventually typically in bed, sleeping, often in a dark room.

So why are people puzzled when they are not wearing shoes (or cannot find their shoes) when in the dream state? Why are they puzzled about being undressed, including being undressed in public? If the physical body is undressed, why would someone be surprised about not being fully dressed while in the dream state regardless of the dream’s setting?

In this entry, I will mostly only write of first-level dream state indicators without getting into the more complicated factors. Some of the more obvious dream state indicators (for me) are:

Not wearing shoes or being undressed in public (of which I am typically not only unconcerned about, but which I often initiate deliberately in lucid dreams, including in public places, since I recognize it is just the dream state - and to indulge in additional levels of sensual connections to Zsuzsanna in this “other state”, which of course is literal and literally willed in such a case)

A bed, including a bed in an unusual location (especially in a known liminal space setting)

Appearances of pillows, bed sheets, and bedroom features

Features that exist in our bedroom in real life, including features that are not inherently associated with a bedroom for other people

Seeing someone else (or even an animal) sleeping (though note that dreaming I am sleeping, regardless of the setting, while actually feeling tired, means just that - that my physical body is overtired in real life - this not being in cases where I happen to be in bed or otherwise “sleeping” in the dream state without that augmented sense of tiredness)

This last indicator is so common, I came to typify it (around the age of eight) as “The Sleeper”. (Still, there are cases where The Sleeper is linked to a prescient thread, as when our oldest son got very ill on September 26, 2017, or with my detailed dream that came just prior to our roof being torn off by the storm a couple months back, even including the large tarpaulins being put over our house and the unusual appearance of this sudden and totally unexpected storm.) In some cases (such as “The Dead One” from February 13, 1971), The Sleeper is perceived as a corpse (though in that dream, Brenda came back to life but coalesced into the unconscious space, which is different than waking space coalescence that involves the dream self coalescing back into the conscious self identity).

Dream state indicators can also be related to false awakenings, for example, writing down a previous dream in a dream journal (in a dream) or talking about it with someone else. In some dreams, I have actually, as my dream self, relayed the meaning of a dream without realizing I was in the dream state at the time. False awakenings of this nature are so common that I often do not even document them unless there are unusual or interesting variations. (They occur in a different level of unconsciousness anyway, so are typically not related to the dream that they followed other than writing it down or talking to another dream character about it in the offset dream.)

It should be clear that the nature of liminal space settings of the waking process is completely different from the nature of dream state indicators (though sometimes dream state indicators are rendered in liminal space, which I will explain in another entry). Liminal space settings (and their inherent symbolism) are typically a result of the waking process, whereas dream state indicators are subliminal remnants of having fallen asleep. Thus, on one level, they are opposite factors though which typically occur during the same waking transition.

    2. June 24, 2015 (L)x7 DEILDs | Truck off a Cliff, Splatoon, Laser Rifle

by , 01-09-2018 at 06:07 PM (Fantastical Adventures)
-1(L)-This started with a scene with a female driving a truck straight down a road. Then, something took control of the truck for a second, causing it to swerve off the road, off a cliff, down steep slopes and off another cliff. A few seconds later, the female DC in the truck arrived back to where I and some group were; on the road.
-2(L)-In this epic dream, I got to play Splatoon in live action. The map I started at was very tiny. The first weapon I picked was the Splattershot(I think). Once I was dropped in, I thought that death meant actual death. But then, I got shot with ink and exploded, triggering a respawn. (During this, I was dream-blurred) I died again, walking around the rectangle, trying to get a shot to an opponent on the other side of the net. [Skip] Next, we walked to the adjacent map and got ourselves ready. I was wondering what weapon I should use. After a couple seconds, I picked the Splattershot Jr., but then I noticed a green gun that I had never seen before.
      |The gun was shaped like a cone, tapering off at the front. Then, the game started. Shots came out of my gun at roughly 150 rounds per minute. It shot a straight line of ink a very short distance. It also had another firing mode: one that shot a constant line of ink an even shorter distance. I was under the impression that, at point blank range, it would kill very quickly and efficiently. Instead, it did nothing besides make some electric particle effects. |
Shortly after the game began, 3 inklings were sitting down, lined up, and doing nothing. I tried to shoot them with the “laser rifle’s” 2nd firing mode, only for it to do nothing. So, I pointed the ink beam at some TV monitors nearby.
Also, during the game, it was announced that, for a very short time, Splatoon and Xenoblade Chronicles X would be available for $13 each.
I counted 7 LDs in this DEILD chain.

    3. Known Key Symbolism 2018: Common Liminal Space Settings (1)

      by , 01-09-2018 at 04:41 PM
Afternoon of January 9, 2018. Tuesday.

Three common waking space settings (in my fifty years of dreaming history since earliest memory) are as follows:

      Porch

      Parking Lot

      Store checkout

(There are many more, which I will provide information on in future entries.)

The fallacy of “interpretation” (often incorrectly referred to as “meaning”) works like this: A random member of society (even an “expert” or “professional”), who almost always lacks the understanding of what a dream actually is (or what is occurring unconsciously), will see one of these three settings and pretend it has a concurrent meaning related to real life, in the pretense of nebulously “indicating” something about real life. That would be a good trick since the above settings have occurred on a regular basis in my dreams for over fifty years, typically in the last segment of a dream sequence.

When rendered as settings in a dream, these elements are typically symbolic of the dream state itself and the waking transition, and as such, often have nothing to do with “interpretation” or waking life. I know this from having continuously studied my dreams for over fifty years. There is no doubt in my mind, especially as I am aware of my own dream self and its viewpoints as I move through such waking transitions, with the actual understanding (though subtle) at one level, of what I am experiencing. That is, I am otherwise (though vaguely) lucid enough in waking space to understand the symbolism. (For some reason, just as with other common factors of my dreams, the majority of other people do not seem to experience this. Consequently, from a very young age, I have believed that much of society is either missing a major part of the thinking process, or, using the example of mathematics; people simply are not interested or consider it too difficult or unfamiliar.)

To quote (verbatim), the first text that comes up on Google with a search relating to liminal space: “Liminal spaces, such as waiting rooms, parking lots, stairwells and rest stops, make you feel weird if you spend too much time in them because these spaces exist for the things that come before or after them. Their ‘existence’ is not about themselves.” However, this is not entirely true. In contrast, “The Beach as a Liminal Space” (chapter 28 of “A Companion to Tourism”) and “Porches and the vocabulary of liminal spaces” (Ruth Walker) relate the positive factors.

“In anthropology, liminality is the quality of ambiguity or disorientation that occurs in the middle stage of rituals.” (Wikipedia.) Certainly, a dream could be viewed as a type of ritual in its waking process and the symbolism that represents the waking process, as a person is between dreaming and waking. This is what such symbolism actually means in contrast to the belief it has an “interpretation”.

Are there specific differences in meaning regarding whether my dream ends on a porch, in a parking lot, or at a store’s checkout? Is it just incidental to the nature of being unconscious and the mind trying to make sense of the shifts in unconsciousness during the sleep cycle? The only time I have validated any sort of connection is when my dream has a prescient thread as such. (Still, prescient threads are most commonly linked to the known symbolism of the dream state itself, something I have found peculiar since childhood.)

I could note that, while a parking lot is often considered an open space (excluding enclosed or multi-storey car parks), a porch and a store’s checkout are usually enclosed spaces. (A carport, originating in my dreams from the years I lived in Cubitis, also represents typical waking process symbolism, especially when that house’s door was used as my dream’s liminal space divider or purposeful exit point, though a carport is more open than a typical porch.) However, the dream state perception (irresolvable by my conscious self) sometimes presents the essence of being indoors and outdoors at the same time, which is different than when I feel the essence of bilocation based on setting dynamics. Even so, this ambiguity so present (and dominating) in some dreams does not occur at all in other dreams. It depends on which neural patterns are active in the waking process.

A store’s checkout as a preparatory symbol in leaving the dream state has an additional factor in some cases. Such a waking process is sometimes more focused (depending on my dream) than other waking transitions. For example, it sometimes has the additional feature of a wallet, which symbolizes the transition of the temporary fictional dream self coalescing back into the conscious self during the RAS mediation (as the cashier can be understood to represent the preconscious in such a scenario), because a wallet “holds identification”. However, porch scenarios also often include RAS mediation or a dominant preconscious “intrusion” (though not in every case, as it depends on the stage of the sleep cycle and whether it is the first or last dream). A parking lot, other than in certain childhood dreams, is less likely to have RAS mediation, resulting in a less dynamic waking process. All three settings occur in different stages of sleep, which validates their connection to the dream state itself in most cases (again, other than when there is a prescient thread).

There are also forms of liminal space of which are perceived as mobile, in which case vestibular system symbolism links to the RAS mediation, which may depend on sleeping position, though is typically more about temporarily ambiguous perception of the physical body while unconscious (especially as the dream self does not have a real physical body). For example, an elevator would be a waking process symbol, though as with other types of liminal space settings, it can also serve as induction (as it is deliberately used in some forms of meditation and hypnosis as such), that is, deeper into the dream state and sustaining it while also vivifying it.

In other entries (at least on my main site), I will go into more detail about known symbolism (of which I am absolutely certain about). I will relate more about how I have been able to understand most aspects of my dreams and sleeping anomalies since childhood, though still present alternate possibilities when they might feasibly (that is, intelligently) exist.

    4. Dream - Find My Dream Guide

      by , 01-09-2018 at 12:27 PM
Date of Dream: TUE 9 JAN - 2018

Dream No. 260 - Find My Dream Guide

I don't remember how the dream started. From where I do remember, I entered some pharmacy store where I saw Murray in the entry way as he appears in Sly 4. I asked him straight away “Can you please assist me in finding my dream guide?”. He looked like he wanted to help but he didn't know what to do, so he told me sorry.

I continue to the back of the pharmacy where I see this guy that looks like he works there. At first, I go ahead in asking, “Can you please assist me in finding...”. I stopped suddenly as I thought about the possibility of the dream kicking me out for an undesired dialect from me. I firmly affirmed to him “I just need some assistance”, to fool him into thinking I just wanted something from the shop. But then I changed my mind again; this man had such a pleasant look about him with no underlying creepiness. So when he asked “What do you need assistance with?”, I told him, “Finding my dream guide”. He gave me the widest, friendliest smile and actually transitioned me onto the next scene.

I found myself amongst all these well-trimmed, rolling hills of grass and peaceful greenery and in the distance was some sort of mansion. As I got closer, the land became flatter until I was on the actual property block. It is then that I saw Dreamy WB approaching me but she was not human. She was this really dark, nearly black but not quite, metal alloy figure in the shape and carved features of the human.

She had absolutely red glowing eyes and her figure was surrounded by a layer of the blackest, void-like shadow. Now you'd think she looks absolutely terrifying but I wasn't phased at all. It's like my mind was set to the fact that the dream was keeping her prisoner, so I knew that the dream could take over her mind and make her anything. The only negative emotion I had in me was a sense of doubt, internally asking myself, “Is this the true Dreamy WB?”.

But then what stayed consistent was this feeling of that familiar warm energy. And then Dreamy WB spoke and that's when all sense of doubt was removed. I forgot what she spoke about with me to begin with but she led me into her “backyard” and introduced me to a little girl who was also under the effect of the voided shadow veil and piercing red eyes. I studied her enough to see that her nationality was Asian and she would have been about 5 or 6 years old. I was thinking to myself, “the dream's making Dreamy WB have kids?!”.

Eventually, I mentally came to the conclusion that she couldn't have naturally had that child because the race of the child would also be African if that was the case. Dreamy WB was talking to me about many things but I forgot what about specifically. She eventually took me to a trampoline, which was supposedly in her backyard that wasn't fenced. Me, her and the kid were lying on this trampoline while she continued to talk about things. After a fair bit of a conversation, the dream moved scenes again.

I was in this unknown room and my brother was supposedly doing piano practice; my mum was sitting on the side listening. I don't remember all the exact details of this scene. I was sitting as still as I possibly could but sometimes, my bones would uncontrollably make a noise. Every time that would happen, my mum and brother would tell me to be quiet even though I wasn't making a noise vocally. At one point, a bone in my knee cracked and so my brother stopped playing for a while.

I ended up getting frustrated that no one was taking me into consideration, not excusing for the uncontrollable bone pains. I got up and walked out of the room but that's when my mum got really angry at me and start heavily storming towards me. I had made it to my bedroom before she came barging in through the door to scream at me. I told her, “It's seems like you only care about NB and not about me”. She was trying to cover up her action with all these different reasons but I didn't believe her. When I gained the capacity, I whispered to myself, “It's time to report this issue to Dreamy WB”. That's all I can remember about this dream.

      Dream Trophies Achieved:

      - None

Dreamy WB's appearance was nightmarish; typically expecting an instant wake up. But I was completely calm; it's like I focused on what was on the inside rather than her looks. Appearance-wise, the dream got her feature shapes correct, so her figure was accurate, just not fully human.

    5. Prepping for the End

      by , 01-09-2018 at 12:11 PM
It's an unspecified apocalypse. There are giant rocks falling out of an ominous sky, and the first zombies are starting to spread. Shit is going to get very bad, very soon. I'm focused on gathering supplies and getting out of the city, and am leading a small group.

People are already fighting in the grocery stores, which have almost been stripped bare. I focus on raiding unattended stores and gas stations, houses that look empty. In one house, there are canisters of supplies, guns and ammo, food. As we grab the canisters, a little +10 or +5 appears in the air like when you pick something up in a video game. That almost tips me off that I'm dreaming, but I get distracted with my mission of gathering supplies. There's a nice rifle with a scope in the basement of one house, I'm the first one to spot it, and I lay claim to it by announcing "That one's MINE!". Morgan disagrees and grabs before I can, and I tell him I'm willing to fight him for it. He's being a total dick, the kind of person who gets people killed, and as we fight, I regret not having any of those knives I scavenged on me.
