    1. Ambiguous Boat Ride

      by , 04-30-2017 at 10:30 AM
Morning of April 30, 2017. Sunday.

I presently have a cold, and when this happens, my preconscious band expands into wider, unfamiliar patterns, likely external (as it always was with Zsuzsanna before I met her). This preconscious shift sometimes transforms the emergent consciousness precursor into a completely unknown identity as here (which may be a biological factor relating to being in need of more threads from the collective unconscious due to illness), though likely also based on all the news about North Korea.

I am on a ship (a common water induction beginning, water symbolizing sleep and its dynamics in real time as it has for over fifty years for me on a day to day basis) which seems to be a North Korean cargo ship (or so I assume from recent thoughts).

There is some sort of situation which I am not directly involved in. It is something about an unknown male following a female around (and curiously, they are both Caucasian), even into the shower area (water induction within water induction - but not fully a dream within a dream, only composite distortion of the ship seeming bilocated with a house on land and my dream being vivified by the additional association). She seems annoyed but the matter does not concern me.

I look in a mirror and see that the right side of my face is bruised very badly, from my forehead down to my chin, mostly red and purple. I consider that it may relate to my illness and something related to blood circulation. It is mostly covering only the left side of my face (possibly a greatly exaggerated subliminal thread of sleeping on one side).

Again, because I have a cold in real life, my preconscious band is skewed. When I look in a mirror, I am a Korean girl of about sixteen, without the slightest awareness that I am an older man. I am focused on my face quite clearly and consider telling someone about my medical condition though I do not fully recall it as being a cold.

    2. Abraham Lincoln’s Teddy Bear

      by , 04-28-2017 at 10:28 AM
Night of April 28, 2017. Friday.

I am in a distorted liminal state of semi-lucidity, yet it is not active enough to have viable memory, including historical knowledge, though I am mostly aware of my present life status and conscious self identity. There is a couch in a fictionally-placed location that faces the foot of our bed (west), though this is more like typical bilocation as it seems to be a different house partially integrated into ours (and with the common dream perception of being in two places at once).

Abraham Lincoln is sleeping on the couch in the semidarkness a few hours before dawn, his head to the north. He is dressed in a suit and mostly on his back but partly on his right side. I find myself picking up a teddy bear and feel that I should give it to him, but I do not want to wake him. I seem to recall that he always sleeps with a teddy bear (though this is fallacy as teddy bears did not exist in Lincoln’s time). He remains sleeping. I have no awareness that he had been a president or that he is deceased though I also do not see him as an imposer.

Of the fifty solid years I have closely studied dreams, Abraham Lincoln has only directly appeared in a few of them, always as the (potential) emergent consciousness precursor symbol but never as the actual emergent consciousness factor. This may be because I (subliminally) do not believe my conscious self identity could “fill his shoes” so to speak.

In one of my last Lincoln dreams in 2014, the personified preconscious, as a young female, kept saying “Lincoln lied about that”, lastly saying “Lincoln smiled…” and again followed by “Lincoln lied about that” (which may or may not be a dream sign as a play on lying down).

Basically, this is a second-level “threshold” type due to the fact that the “doorway” was not literal but still directly implied as being between where my wife Zsuzsanna and I were sleeping (in reality) and the other room (our kitchen in real life but somewhat featureless and undefined in my dream). It is possible that the emergent consciousness precursor did not activate simply because I was near the beginning of the sleep cycle rather than coming out of it.

    3. Puzzles and Pills

      by , 04-28-2017 at 10:28 AM
Morning of April 28, 2017. Friday.

In the first part of my dream, I somehow lift one side of the mattress, which is near the wall, while I am still kneeling atop it. Under the bed are two rows of model cars of the type that were put together from a kit. The rows are nearest the wall. (Neither side of our bed is near a wall in reality.) This involves some sort of false memory that dreams create so often, and it is even like a sense of nostalgia. I pick one of them up, from about the middle of the second row out, and it seems to be somewhat like a dune buggy though somewhat angular all around. It is a bit longer than the length of my hand.

I later find myself with what turns out to be at least three jigsaw puzzles on top of each other. Originally, I try to keep them together as I am moving them, but they fall into pieces on the bed. They all seem to be some sort of manga “movies”, or rather, are linked to some sort of soundtrack that I hear in my mind by taking a couple white pills, which have somewhat of a sweet flavor and are associated with the puzzles. Because the puzzles are not together, the dialogue is in random parts. I am not clear on what the female voices are saying because of this. Again, the spoken words are only heard in the correct order when the puzzles are complete (although each puzzle is only one large picture).

I find this unique even though it is straightforward. Being in bed in my dream is a subliminal awareness that I am actually sleeping (and obviously in bed) at the time. The Puzzled State is a recurring level of dream self existence during the waking transition. I was first aware of this metaphorical association from a dream from when I was only four years old. It is metaphorically linked to the temporary dream self suddenly relearning the conscious self identity, which is “in pieces” in the dream state prior to waking, thus an incomplete jigsaw puzzle symbolizes the transient nature of liminal space and puzzlement over shifting consciousness. The pills might be related to an association with “The Matrix” with finding out the dream state is not real (though this is only a wild guess, as I do not take pills or any type of medication in real life).

    4. Water Birds

      by , 04-26-2017 at 10:26 AM
Morning of April 26, 2017. Wednesday.

There were previous scenes at a different level of consciousness, but I more vividly find myself walking in an unfamiliar area. It seems as if it might be some sort of low-set bridge. I am not focused on where I am going. It may be to the shopping mall. There are no buildings around. There is a large expanse of water to my left. It is daylight out though I am not sure of the implied time. It may be morning.

Eventually, I notice one other person about half-a-block’s distance ahead of me. Getting closer, I see that it is my wife Zsuzsanna’s sister Judy. She seems wary at first, until she realizes who I am, but keeps walking.

My attention falls on the water. There are a large number of birds that are mostly all the same, mostly a mix of dark gray, black, white, and blue. Some of them are on the surface of the water, somewhat duck-like (though I am not sure what kind of a bird they are). About an equal number of birds, I can see under the water, their heads upward just to the underside of the surface. This imagery continues as I walk at least the equivalent of two city blocks. I find it curious, even somewhat peculiar, but it is a beautiful scene. The birds under the water do not move that much but may be feeding on the same food source that the birds above the water are looking for or eating. Thus, there is a vague sense of ambiguity.

This is a curious liminal space transition (especially as I seem to be walking on some sort of bridge) that mixes water induction (with subliminal awareness of being asleep) and the anticipatory (yet also subliminal) consciousness shift symbol (the birds). I find it interesting how nearly identical imagery seems to be rendered in each area of the water as I walk along.

    5. Encoded Food

      by , 04-23-2017 at 10:23 AM
Morning of April 23, 2017. Sunday.

I am not sure of the location. Even though Zsuzsanna and I seem to be home from shopping at a grocery store, there is also a cashier or unknown female from the store present in the scene.

Apparently, we had bought bowls of food that were already prepared. There are a few different pasta dishes and at least one item in a small cardboard package. Somehow, I cannot eat from one serving as if there is some sort of force field. The female mentions something about the food needing to be decrypted or decoded prior to eating. One has to use a certain herb or spice in a decryption packet to make it possible for the food to be edible. I do not consider how absurd this concept is.

Instead, I am able to get one of the packets and put it over the top of the bowl of inedible pasta. I am then able to eat some of it, because it has now been decrypted (decoded).

Encrypting and decrypting food as one would encrypt and decrypt binary data such as a document is one of the oddest ideas that has occurred in a dream in recent memory. The bilocated essence of being in our house and somehow still being in the grocery store though, is typical of my dreams.

Update on Thursday, 4 May 2017: I had temporarily forgotten about a dream from 1988. In that dream, I had to use the bathroom. On the front of the toilet tank was written “ENTER PROPER ACCESS CODE”. This was so hilarious (as I had been working with computers most of the day) that it woke me up with the urgency to go in reality. (The dream was a “3” on the lucidity scale, but I was not wholly creating it with my conscious mind.)

    6. Giant Flying Mermaid

      by , 04-22-2017 at 10:22 AM
Night of April 22, 2017. Saturday.

I am on a ship out at sea though unsure of the time (though there is daylight). It seems like an older wooden ship as from a movie, though there is also a large fishing net set up on a pulley, seemingly at the front of the ship. The men are dressed somewhat like pirates but do not seem rowdy or aggressive.

A giant mermaid, with the face of a young Zsuzsanna, and about fifteen feet in length, rises up from the ocean at the (I assume) front of the boat. For a moment, it seems that she may be partly entangled in the net. She has unusual fins around her shoulders which also seem somewhat like wings. There seems to be no threat to me, but many of the men are gathered up in the net by her and she just holds it up. (This seems to happen at least a couple times.) It does not seem she will hurt them. She is also at the side of the boat (port side) at one point. She does not seem angry at any point, just curious and amused. The men are let go and roll across the bow, some whose feet are still caught in the net.

    7. Unlikely Visitors and Dream Signs

      by , 04-22-2017 at 10:22 AM
Morning of April 22, 2017. Saturday.

I am in one of the King Street apartments; one I rented in real life; the northeast one (on the second floor). However, it is also integrated with our present bedroom. As usual, this unique composite does not register as such with me. My wife Zsuzsanna is present but in another part of the room at first. An unfamiliar young black female is in our bed on her back with the sheet fully over her. There is a presumed backstory that she is staying with us, which has something to do with her husband, who is a dream journalist on the Internet, who is somehow “missing” (or to become missing?). (He has posted on that site since January of 2015 on a very regular basis, sometimes on a day to day basis, and now is not - therefore I must mark this dream thread as precognitive as there was no hint his posts would stop, even for a short time. All of my longer dreams have precognitive threads but I do not always document or update their status as such online.) We are having a conversation about what he has written and how he might be helped, though I do not recall all the details of the conversation.

Eventually, Zsuzsanna becomes annoyed (and I guess wants to go to sleep or just for us to have privacy) and tells her to leave.

Soon, there are several (unfamiliar) people in the room, almost as if it was some sort of reunion. The door remains open. A Tahitian girl (of about seventeen) and her white-haired mother enter the room, her mother on the right (from my viewpoint). They are dressed the same, in short bright floral dresses, and they are the same height. The girl has some of Zsuzsanna’s essence. I somehow recognize her and I feel almost like a child again. I go to hug her. When I hug her I look up and realize that she is about seven feet tall. It is extremely vivid, as other dream endings of this same nature are.

A standing and hugging event such as this, when it does occur, always occurs in the last moments of a dream or consciousness shift into an offset dream (only when lucid in the latter case). It symbolizes coalescence with the emergent consciousness in real time. What I find very interesting is how vivid in terms of proportions it is here. On one level, it seems probable that it is based on the memory of the size-orientation of being a child and hugging an adult. On another level, it is probably a reversal of Zsuzsanna and I in perspective, though exaggerated.

    8. “Finding Nemo’s Girlfriend”

      by , 04-21-2017 at 10:21 AM
Morning of April 21, 2017. Friday.

I am watching a movie which is supposedly a sequel to “Finding Nemo”. It may be called “Finding Nemo’s Girlfriend” or at least that seems to be the main plot.

The movie seems to be in an advanced form of CGI. The fish speak and seem very “real”. The search is on for Nemo’s girlfriend (though it does show her in certain scenes where the others are not aware of her location). After a time though, it is revealed that there are people in very unusual costumes with mechanical attachments that create the animated fish in the movie. This includes a smaller robotic fish (or another ocean creature in robotic form) attached to the top of each person’s head, as well as attachments to their arms and some sort of cylindrical form around their body. They seem to be on break and sitting on chairs in a semi-dark studio. There remains a vague (but mostly subliminal) association with being in the Cubitis living room. For a moment, I am confused, as if they do not care about Nemo’s girlfriend or properly ending the movie, but then I realize it is just the making of a movie in progress and the fish characters are not real beings.

What a curious way to validate fish as symbolizing lower levels of the conscious self, submerged in the dream state, playing a role in real time.

    9. Overpass with Railway (with Zsuzsanna)

      by , 04-21-2017 at 10:21 AM
Morning of April 21, 2017. Friday.

My wife Zsuzsanna and I are walking somewhere that seems modeled (in conscious afterthought only) after an area in La Crosse, south of the overpass near Loomis Street. As we walk towards the overpass, I see an unknown male to our left, who had apparently been walking over the overpass and is going in the opposite direction.

The setting is odd and not based on any real-life memory of anything other than the overpass itself. There is a set of unusual railroad tracks over the overpass to our left (which was never there in reality), which takes up about half of the width. There are no cars seen. Looking back, I see the man completing his trip over the overpass, which seems to be a very difficult path to walk over.

Instead of railroad ties, the continuity of the railroad track design is based on pillow-shaped black “rocks” (though more like large lumps of tar), which are about as wide as the tracks and a bit too high for the rails themselves to be feasible. Additionally, there are a few telephone-pole-like features, a couple car lengths apart for each, on each side, but only a very short distance from ground level (only slightly higher than the pillow-shaped “rocks”). It seems that it might prove to be difficult to walk in the area. Still, I tell Zsuzsanna that I could walk through that area, though we keep going north on the sidewalk.

Soon, as we reach the peak of the overpass, still walking but slightly floating in midair at times, I suddenly decide to use our “car” to go the rest of the way. This makes no sense, as I can easily push it and we are ready to get in, and yet it is invisible, and it would be ridiculous to assume I had pushed it up the overpass with it being no wider than the sidewalk, yet that is the “sudden false memory” that is rendered prior to waking.

This dream, like most of my dreams, is extraordinarily easy to decode in meaning for what it actually is in real-time dynamics (rather than nonsensical faddish or superstitious “interpretation”).

      • The unknown male going in the opposite direction is the personified preconscious transmuting back into the personified unconscious. There was no confrontation as I was already on my way to the passive waking stage.
      • The overpass is a direct metaphor for waking. Zsuzsanna is walking with me on the sidewalk as we are in the same bed in real life at the time.
      • The railroad tracks lined with the “pillows” are a “vaguely disguised” first-level dream sign that validates the path of the preconscious back “down” into my dream.
      • The “stunted telephone poles” represent my lessening connection (and potential communication) to the dynamics of my dream state. This of course is only a liminal space transition, as my unconscious mind is far more accessible to me when I am awake in whole consciousness.
      • Our “invisible car” is a mental “vehicle” of pretense in assuming my dream setting has physical dynamics in the very last moments of waking, almost like a comedic afterthought, yet not hypnopompic.

    10. A Spider in a Taxi (hand mobility)

      by , 04-17-2017 at 10:17 AM
      1 minute 36 second read.
      Monday morning, 17 April 2017.
A Spider in a Taxi (hand mobility)
      Dream # 18,382-03.

I am riding in a taxi with family members (including Zsuzsanna). I sit in the back seat on the left. After we reach our stop (Hinkler Central shopping mall), I notice a sizeable spider on my left.

The spider has long legs. I do not know the species. I move away from it but turn around to crush it with my wallet when it is on the seat. It takes effort as I become more aware of my hand’s physicality and mobility.

After I exit the taxi on its right, I close the door quickly in case the spider is still alive. I am the last one out. (In this dream, I am unaware of the cab driver as I do not look in their direction.)

Spiders in dreams (depending on the narrative) correspond with the human hand for several reasons, including my lifelong association with “The Eensy Weensy Spider” song (or “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” and other variations) and its accompanying hand motions that model a crawling spider. A spider also serves as a somatosensory phasing indicator. (Spiders, bugs, and insects have associations with crawling on a person - a tactile association - not symbolism in the conventional sense). They do not always have negative associations. Spiderweb correlates with REM atonia (physical immobility while sleeping).

In this case, probable additional influence is my annoyance at high cab fares (and handing a cab driver money).

    11. The Classroom Beyond

      by , 04-17-2017 at 10:17 AM
Morning of April 17, 2017. Monday.

I find myself wandering through an unfamiliar school, the very large expansive building implied to be of one floor, it seems. (It may be modeled after my old middle school in Florida.) For some reason, I get this impression of a backstory where I had been seeking special classrooms that teach adults. It relates to physical education, I think, and possibly martial arts, but the details are not that clear. It may be that I am, under pretense, just looking for “hidden” areas in the building.

I talk with an unknown male who is walking in the hall. I tell him about having heard rumors from people (and this is by deliberate pretense, as it seems I am just making up the whole concept to justify my exploration) about a hidden or secret classroom near the back of the building that teaches adults. He denies that there are ever any classes held beyond the hall we are in (which really is not logical, though I do not question him - though it may just be that the rooms are being renovated presently).

I continue towards the back of the school building. I eventually reach an area where there seems to be a class being held to my right (which means that the other male was either lying or was unaware of it). The door is open and I can see that the classroom is full. It seems that it may be sixth or seventh grade. I think about talking to the teacher (who is unseen, as the door opens to the back of the class) but I do not want to disrupt the class. I notice an unfamiliar girl who has a light freckle-colored pattern over about half of her face and neck.

Soon, all of the students start singing “The Bear Went Over The Mountain”. They sing very harmoniously, and the song goes on for quite a while. (I get the vague impression that it is for my benefit, though this is not certain.)

I go back to the other male to tell him about the class and he seems puzzled. Soon, I realize I had absentmindedly had my leg in a bad position, pressing down on the surface of a table I am sitting on. He tells me that I have a medical condition, saying what it is (though I do not recall the term). I say “I don’t care”, as when I move my leg, the condition apparently resolves itself. There is a diamond-shaped hole in my right leg; inward, in about the middle of my lower leg. Soon, my skin rises up to the correct level to match the rest of my leg and I clearly see blood filling the area under the skin, which changes from the white diamond shape to normal appearance.

“The Bear Went Over The Mountain” seems to be redundant of the nature of the dream itself, and also seems a play on the “subconscious mind” myth. Even though I supposedly go beyond a recognized area of the school, I simply end up on the other side of the school, though I suspect there are additional meanings (such as similarity to the phrase “over the hill”, though only by society’s nonsensical beliefs).

Update Wednesday, 3 May 2017: The unfamiliar girl was a precognitive thread as I suspected. For their privacy reasons, I will not go into detail. On a side note, the “medical problem” might be a loose reference to my vagus nerve (though it is not life-threatening), but that is only assuming it was not a reference to a real-time physical position (in sleep) concerning my leg. On an additional note, the “subconscious mind” myth continues to baffle me, especially considering that nearly all dreams (other than the precognitive threads) are entirely erroneous in nature. The school setting is simply the result of being unconscious and the critical thinking skills of the conscious self being temporarily lost as a result and the dream self seeking to relearn the state of wakefulness. (As I have often explained before, I only use the term “subconscious” to designate the dream self as the “personified subconscious”, only to distinguish it from the unconscious, preconscious - especially when personified, the emergent consciousness, and whole conscious self identity.)

    12. Snakes, Snakes, and Snakes

      by , 04-16-2017 at 10:16 AM
Morning of April 16, 2017. Sunday.

This dream has various disconnected scenes featuring snakes. Its vividness grows then lessens several times. In this dream, our house seems rotated in orientation as well as with a few other changes. For example, the wooden cupboard in the bathroom directly faces the bathroom door rather than being perpendicular to it. (Despite the fact of having carefully documented and studied tens of thousands of dreams for over fifty years, the same setting, regarding its layout and overall appearance, has never occurred more than once in a dream other than in resets during the same sleeping period though even then there are differences.)

There are a number of snakes that appear over time. It starts by me noticing one in the “living room”. The living room is ambiguous as there is a vague awareness of being indoors and outdoors at the same time (a very common perception in my dreams since early childhood). The floor, for example, is somewhat like dirt, and one snake crawls up out of it. I am aware of how dangerous the snake is.

There is a scene where I catch a snake and its head is close to my face. At this time, I suddenly become incorporeal but the “other me” (who is now a different unfamiliar male) is bitten on the face by the snake. The snake then apologizes (in a human male voice) to the man. I see that it has somehow removed its fangs (perhaps spit them to the floor). It tells the man it is going to remove the venom by sucking it out. Each area where the snake’s teeth were is somewhat like a sucker on an octopus tentacle and this will apparently aid in the sucking out of the poison. The man’s life is saved by the snake that bit him.

After catching a number of large deadly snakes, I put each one, apparently dead, into a small box (which is somewhat like a white gift box of the type that would hold a wristwatch). By this point, the snakes (only the ones in the box) are only the size of small earthworms. It seems I am sending them to a herpetologist for a special study, perhaps for payment. Each snake is different. I catch a white one with purple polka dots. There are layers of tissue in the small white box that separate the snakes. I look to see if any of them are still alive but I do not see movement.

I have a false memory as Zsuzsanna speaks. She “reminds” me of the time when a dangerous eastern brown snake (said to be the world’s second-most venomous land snake) was in our bed. I recall the event clearly (even though it never actually happened, either in my dream or real life).

I go into the bathroom and close the door. A large snake is behind me just outside the bathroom door. I feel that I have no choice but to crawl up onto the top of the wooden cupboard (which as described above in the first paragraph is in the wrong location). I see its head come out from under the door. I start throwing toothbrushes, razors, tubes of toothpaste, combs, bottles of shampoo, and anything I can get my hands on. Each time I throw a bunch of items, the snake backs away, sometimes going back behind the bottom of the door, but I soon see it appear again each time. I throw items at it at least ten times or more and it gets very annoying to see the snake coming back under the door each time. Finally, I decide to climb down and make a run for it. As I am leaving the bathroom, Zsuzsanna calls a different snake a “coral snake”. Apparently, it had also been in the bathroom (perhaps in the bottom part of the cupboard). It is banded red and black and another (unknown male) runs from it (though I do not question where the other male comes from).

I then start picking up all the razors, toothbrushes, and other items that I had thrown so that I can put them back on the top of the cupboard. There are some other scenes with crawling snakes and another scene where I climb up onto the top of a tall bookcase, but my dream fades. The bookcase seems to be in the living room of the Loomis Street house, facing directly out from the doorway of the northeast bedroom and blocking it. As usual, I do not regard the fact that the bathroom is from our present home in Australia (though altered) yet certain other rooms are from the Loomis Street house in America. I have decided this may be a form of sustained doorway waking symbolism. The snake is seen as crawling under the bathroom door (thus there may be a subliminal awareness of needing to wake and use the bathroom), but in the last scene a bookcase is blocking a bedroom door. (Books are associated with an increase in neural energy and emergence of more viable thinking skills.)

All my life, (regarding non-lucid dreams) I have contemplated why settings are always different and rarely based on any correct memory of a real location. Although the “subconscious” can never get anything right, even the most basic detail, my theory is that the setting is rendered from the concurrent dynamics of the dream based on economics and convenience. For example, if the incorrect layout of the bathroom had been correct, I would not have had the open view of the snake coming under the door and I would not have as easily been able to target it by throwing items directly at it. I would have had to fling them at an unusual angle down close to my left (while having to lean more over the edge). There have been many dreams where the incorrect nature of the setting seemed directly based on the flow of my dream’s situational dynamics. It makes perfect sense, as that is how waking thought works. (For example, when you have a particular new thought, the exact same sentences do not manifest each and every time forever afterward, or there would never be a new thought, thus dream settings are skewed by thought continuity, not based on static memories of real places.)

    13. The Same Marks

      by , 04-14-2017 at 10:14 AM
Night of April 14, 2017. Friday.

There is a quickly perceived backstory of two unknown men. There is an awareness of each man being dressed somewhat as Zorro (though this is not fully perceived as such in my dream). It does seem that a couple masks are quickly removed prior to the last part. One man is at a table in a restaurant, though in semidarkness. I do not seem directly involved.

The two men look nothing alike. One is much slimmer and taller. The slimmer man enters the restaurant and stands near the table. As the slimmer man looks down with his face very close to the one sitting at the table, he exclaims, “What the h— is this?” with both puzzlement and mild anger. Both men have identical sets of symmetrical and parallel scratches on their face (as if the marks were made on purpose), some coming out diagonally (and upward) from near each eye, some mostly horizontal on the cheeks, some down around near their mouth. They look at each other curiously, each perhaps thinking one is impersonating the other. The marks mostly look like cat scratches, and about half are still red.

This is some sort of odd coalescence factor, probably the preconscious and the emergent consciousness personified in an oddly projected or secondary way. (I did get the brief impression that I was looking at myself even though neither man looked anything like me.) (There is possibly influence from Balthazar in “The Scorpion King”, a 2002 movie, though the appearance is very different.)

    14. The Tiny Man and the Apocalypse (with Gregory Hines)

      by , 04-12-2017 at 10:12 AM
Morning of April 12, 2017. Wednesday.

In the first part of my dream, I have the ability to “do anything” and I am clearly aware of this (even though I am not lucid at any point), of which becomes a focus on an unfamiliar Solntsevskaya Bratva boss (reminiscent of an older Mikhail Baryshnikov though more like Semion Mogilevich in the last moments of the scene, though Mikhail is possibly the man at the teacher’s desk and near the tree in later scenes) and his younger associate wanting me to find gold. Semion is at a desk in the last scene of the first segment. I explain that I will only find the gold that is not in a secured location or kept by others. I tell him that there is at least one large gold nugget twenty-five miles away. (This indicated that my dream would last twenty-five more minutes as gold typically represents emerging consciousness as well as sunrise). To me, this seems like too long of a drive, but he seems to be interested in getting it. I explain that I could find gold coins that had been lost (symbolic of subliminally seeking conscious self identity), but the focus remains on the gold nugget. No events related to this scenario occur after this.

In another scene (which seems to be the same unfamiliar room as in the first scene), I get two chocolate Easter eggs from my mother (having no memory that she had died years ago). They are like Kinder Surprise eggs (and with the same wrapper imagery) but about twice the size. When I go to eat one as I am lying on the floor (on my side), there seems to be one inside the other, as I end up eating at least half the foil from the one on the inside (but I do not spit it out). My mother is present and I mention this. She says that she had forgotten to unwrap it (and the second egg is probably like this as well). This does not really make sense, as how would one unwrap a chocolate egg that is fully inside another one? The toy inside the plastic “egg” (of which there is only one inside the second wrapped layer) is hard to discern. It may be some sort of tiny plastic outrigger model, the pieces attached in one frame (and I see the small strip of paper with instructions as well).

There is a tiny man, only about three inches high, who I talk to several different times throughout the rest of my dream. There is interest in where he may have come from. I ask him where he lives, naming about three locations, finally asking him if he lives under tree roots and he seems offended. He talks to another male (of normal height) at a desk.

The other male asks me something about receiving a check. The layout of the room now reminds me somewhat of one of my high school basement classrooms, with a square column on each side of his desk. I notice that I am in pajamas and as it is the middle of the day I feel slightly embarrassed. (I do not wear anything when sleeping in real life, though this is just a first-level dream sign, that is, a subliminal non-lucid awareness of being asleep and dreaming.) I take them off and put a shirt on, but then I see that I already had a shirt on (even though I had not actually put the first one on) so I am now wearing two shirts and notice that they are different colors (blue and pale orange I think, the blue on the outside). I think about whether I should just button up the second one but consider that it may be too warm.

Eventually, it is seen that the tiny man actually had been living in a small cave under a large tree (just as I had first thought and asked him about though which seemingly offended him), accessible via a tiny doorway between the tree roots. I see two tiny women dressed as fishwives standing just outside the door. They seem to be wondering where the tiny man went. I want to talk to them, but they are wary of human beings of normal height. A group of other people, some of them relatives, curiously approach the tree (including Tina, which is possibly the first dream she has ever appeared in - I see her full name on a small piece of paper near the tree with a couple other names I do not discern). They seem to question whether or not tiny people really exist. One unknown male (Mikhail? - though vaguely like my brother Leonard) places about six or seven odd plastic animal figures near the door as “bait”. They are not to scale and include a frog, cow, horse, dragon, owl, and other animals, all about two inches tall. The tiny women somehow get the figures inside and the figures come to life. The frog tries to eat the cow but fails. Other figures try to eat each other in a chaotic scene but the scene changes. (I am viewing this as if the scene is magnified and I am perceiving from within the tiny cave, though this viewpoint changes in the next scene.)

The tiny man returns and goes inside the cave under the tree. I had wanted to talk to him more. Soon, a young Gregory Hines (February 14, 1946-August 9, 2003) is present. Apparently, he is the ruler of the kingdom of the little people even though he is of normal height. He now plans on eliminating everyone but the little people (and himself). As such, he calls another copy of himself to aid in the end of the world.

A sketch of Gregory Hines “slides” down a miniature skyscraper (though which is still about ten feet tall) that has the external surface of a flat disco ball. I watch as it nears ground level, each square shifting as the parts of the drawing “slide” down the side of the building. The drawing becomes three-dimensional and soon becomes the second “real” Gregory Hines but he is dressed differently than the first - in an unusual vertically pinstriped (dark gray and white) dance costume. I pick him up and throw him over my right shoulder (his head in back of me) and he kicks his legs. The first Gregory Hines looks on with annoyance. I am not sure what to do. I do not want everyone to be killed but I do not feel like carrying the second Gregory around or hurting him.

This is the first time that my preconscious and emergent consciousness (not fully coalesced but still physically touching me and over my right shoulder) were both Gregory Hines. The two shirts event seems redundant of the concentric chocolate eggs event. It may relate to layers of consciousness within the sleep cycle or an unusual waking transition metaphor that requires a second prompt for coalescence (as I was in the dream state much longer than usual). The personified unconscious was the tiny man (validated by the fact he lived underground under a tree, a tree being analogous to the human brain only in some cases). This dream is atypical with regard to the miniature people factor. Most such dreams trigger lucidity and extreme vividness but not in this case. The high school basement classroom is a factor of the unconscious. The fall (or “slide”) down the outer wall of the disco ball building (also a “moon cessation” factor symbolizing the change in circadian rhythms) seems to be the otherwise common precursor to the “fall” of the emergent consciousness and vestibular system correlation.

I explain this dream type further in “Dreams of Type PRECONAV-VSCPCEL, 01-15”.

    15. A Logic Puzzle

      by , 04-10-2017 at 10:10 AM
Morning of April 10, 2017. Monday.

I am aware that I will be doing some sort of test or writing assignment (as apparently I am still in school) and I go into a store to buy a pencil. The cashier is Patrick S, my foreman (from Northern Engraving) who shot himself years ago.

There are three rectangular display wells on one side (in a connected sequence), with at least the middle one having several pencils in various conditions. I pick out a new yellow pencil that is not sharpened and which is featureless at both ends (that is, with no eraser on either end). I am thinking that there may not be a way to sharpen it (after being back in the classroom) in order to do my work. The cashier tells me that it is ten cents. As I pay him, I see that the pencil is now sharpened but is barely long enough to hold onto but also has an eraser. It seems odd but I do not put it back. The lead (graphite) is somewhat blunt and partly covered by the wood as well. Still, I do not complain (as I may be able to write with it as is) and take it with me back to the unfamiliar school. (I have a brief thought that the cashier might say something about the condition of the pencil but he does not.)

Back in the classroom, I see that there are already suitable sharpened pencils for the students, one near each empty seat, so I take one to use as I sit down. The teacher sits at my table, directly across from me. Oddly, he is also Patrick S (though implied to be a different person than the cashier). I do not consciously notice this impossibility. We each have some sort of workbook. The teacher (not having the answer at hand) is also to do the work at the same time as the students. He tells us that the work is on page 164. Even though we all go to page 164 in our own copy of the book, I notice that the number is 154 when looking later. (Still, I stay on that page.)

The task involves finishing a logic puzzle with a fishing theme. The entire page is filled with clues in the form of sentences, yet none of them relate directly to the solution other than one of the last clues (second or third from the bottom), which mentions catfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and a weight value (of the catfish). The entire table (with at least six events, perhaps eight) is apparently to have (at least) the person’s name, the kind of fish they caught, its weight, and the location it was caught. I look it over and find it rather strange. There are no names of people or places that I can discern in the clues so how would one be able to complete the table?

The teacher cheerfully mentions to me that there is more on other pages. I notice a couple blank tables on the next page but I do not know if it relates to the task at hand. Perhaps he means that I can do a different puzzle on one of the other pages, but I do not say anything and mostly regard the fishing-themed one.

What am I "fishing for" here? My transient temporary dream self (a different incarnation in each dream, often which has no association with current conscious self identity), also known as the "personified subconscious", does not really exist, thus I am in the puzzled state (which does not occur in all dreams), seeking the return to my conscious self identity (otherwise known as waking up from sleep, literally). The part where the pencil changes has the essence of non-lucid dream control.
