    Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid

Lucid #237: I Melt with You
I'm standing high up on a viewing platform, looking over a view of the sparkling ocean below. Wife and my son E are standing nearby, looking silently out over the water. I realize that this is a dream.

I look back and E has disappeared. Wife doesn't react, and I tell her, "Don't worry. This is a dream."

    She nods, smiling slightly. "Mm-hmm..."

I look out at the ocean again, resting my hands on the metal railing, which is cold to the touch. The sand of the beach down below has been replaced by a formless gray. I look back. Wife is still there, but a big chunk of the ocean is missing now.

I move toward Wife, cutting my eyes around the scene, more and more pieces falling into gray. Even the platform goes to gray. Soon there's nothing left but Wife and a vertical strip of ocean and sky to her left.

I wrap my arms around Wife and start intensely kissing her. Before long my vision goes entirely gray but I can still feel the sensation of kissing her. I run the fingers of my right hand through her hair, following the moment through until
    the end of the dream.

      Such a beautiful scene!

Quite interesting that on this occasion the void was grey or maybe it was some sort of incidental dream photoshop-like effect?

Thank you both! I'm glad you liked it. This wasn't a terribly long or stable lucid dream but it was one that I really enjoyed. Something about the moment was just perfect.

Good point, Nyx, about the gray! It's funny... I had some "gray" void experiences in my very early dream experiences. My second lucid is an example of this: Flashback: Lucid Experimentation - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

There I described it as a "milky gray". It's interesting that this was the color my mind assigned to "formlessness" this time around too. I think that even the void is just what we make of it! Kind of like how we can transform it into a new dream scene with the right attitude.

You may be right. I can understand the blackness as being the default color of the void due to closed eyes and at night, but people get other colors including grey or brown and Xanous even got a white void! For me this still remains one of the mysteries in dreaming/lding. Also, as you said, I think it's a place full of opportunities as we slowly learn how to make the most of it.

Ah yes, thanks for reminding me of Xanous' white void experience! That was an amazing one! And do you remember how he hit it WILDing in right from first sleep? Pretty cool stuff!
