    Daytime awareness
    Meditation
    Determination

I am driving and thinking about a conversation I had with someone. MP's (from work) husband had a baby with another woman and I feel bad for her because her religion wont let her divorce. While I am driving and have some quiet time I quickly do some awareness. Suddenly, I realize that it is supposed to be late at night, but the sun is shinning brightly. I think this must be a dream and instead of doing my usual nose plug, I pull back on the steering wheel.

The car lifts into the air and I know for sure that I am in a dream. I see that I am on a country road and continue down in though I am hovering several feet above it. I start thinking about goals and for some reason I repeat from my last dream. I think I need to find a DC and at that moment I spot a farmer in overalls on the side of the road next to his pickup. He seems to be messing with a gate that leads into a pasture. I go too fast and pass him before I can stop so I try a hard U-turn. The laws of inertia seem to apply here and I hover sideways a bit before getting the car around. I quickly get to the farmer and, instead of my usual car phase I actually use the door. The act of physically getting out of the car seem really taxing.

I ask the farmer, "What is the nature of reality?"
He immediately starts saying random words that don't form any coherent sentence. It sort of reminds me how I sometimes do that to help me fall asleep.
I ask again and this time he says, "Hyperdimensional continent."
I am not sure this makes any sense so I ask, "Can you put reality into another word?" I really meant to ask a deeper question about reality and see if I can get and idea of what is behind it all. At the very least, I was going to ask him to tell me a story and see what happens.
Anyway, he replies with more nonsensical reply than before, "Presidential candidate." Then he suddenly he lets out a moan of pain, "Oooooh!" I look down and notice that I am rubbing my thumb into the backside of his elbow. This spot is hurting me in the dream and I truly think that I have been massaging my own pain while we were talking. I apologize and explain all this to him. I start to turn away from, but the dream begins to crash. There is darkness, then a few random and fleeting images, some voices, then I wake up. I have a really tough time recalling the dream for several seconds.

This is really cool. Xanous. I've noticed that if I try to ask DCs "higher order" questions (concerning dreams or whatever, that imply I know this is not real), they tend to have mini freakouts. I've wondered if this is because there is already an established narrative they are following, and the questions break that narrative too sharply.

This guy was determined to make no sense.

This is cool, congrats on the lucid! I'm enjoying the outcome of you asking your DCs some serious questions. Hopefully you'll manage to ask one of these questions when interacting with one of your super-smart DCs and you may get a truly amazing answer.

Oh yeah? How's this work? Is this your main insomnia cure?

I ask again and this time he says, "Hyperdimensional continent."
Hey, that's sort of a tantalizing answer! I'd love to see what happens if lucidly traveled to the "hyperdimensional continent"!

@ThreeCat. I have no idea. Trying to understand DCs is way too much for me right now. Though I am looking into it. The subC is just really fascinating.

@CL I always have fun talking to them. I never know what I'll get. It seems like in this dream I was a little less coherent and maybe at a lower level than I'd like. Maybe this was reflected back at through the DC.

Oh yeah? How's this work? Is this your main insomnia cure?
I think I have talked about the insomnia cure. It was taken from Jeffs Freefall whatever guide. It was supposed to help with WILD but for me it's a sure way to pass out cold. lol.

I know I should have dug deeper there but like I said. I wasn't thinking straight.

That sounds interesting! So this is from a wild guide, must check it out for the insomnia benefits.

The first answer this farmer DC gave you was cool, it's a pity he tried to change the subject to politics.

Cool, Xanous, thanks for the idea! I am always looking for good insomnia cures to cycle through. I feel like these are great for helping to extend WBTBs without fear of being too awake to reap their dream benefits.

Do you have anything to add to what's in Jeff's Freefall WILD guide? I think that I found the relevant section. As well as tons of stuff about actively trying to induce "SP".

Once you start noticing illogical images and patterns (only the illogical ones signals the cue to move on!) making its way into your mind, then you’re ready to move to step three because at THIS point, your body is going to sleep and the part of your mind that deals with logic and reasoning along with it. Any sudden thought that, with conscious logic and alert reasoning, does not make sense is considered an "illogical thought"; and for understanding purposes, the term chaos refers to illogical images and random thought patterns. If you’d like to speed up the free-fall into chaos process.. try free-falling "with a weighted jacket on". You can do this by creating illogical images and thoughts yourself. This essentially speeds up the shut-down process. After 5 - 10 minutes of doing this, you should have effectively triggered the neocortex/frontal lobe to begin hibernating, thereby tricking it into creating illogical thoughts and images now on its own accord, without your assistance anymore. I only recommend speeding up the process if you're good at passively observing your thoughts and have no problems catching yourself before you fall too far.
      Here's where I found it: http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...technique.html

Is that more or less what you do?

      Thanks for posting this, CL!

Hmm, I think I maybe understand this illogical thoughts process, but in my case they are not quite illogical. It's more like thought dreamlets that pop up randomly, but they are usually normal sentences that simply do not follow my thought process from the moment before. Like hearing someone say a comment or explain something or my own thoughts mixed up with fake memories relating to the thought/story. Is this the same for you guys?

In order to speed up the process, do we just insert random sentences or make up totally meaningless stuff? One thing I've played with before with some success is repeating each word in a sentence, which kind of messes up the thinking process and produces a clearer mind eventually.

Good thoughts, Nyx! I was thinking that I'd just send my thoughts in a dreamlike, freeform direction, jumping freely from one concept to the next. I was thinking I'd just make sure they're completely random and free of the constraints and worries of waking life.

      That's the theory anyway.

I'll bet that one nice effect of this is simply to crowd out worry and organized thoughts which may activate our minds too much, increasing sleep latency.

We should report back on our different versions of this and how they work! I'm always looking for good ideas to make it easy to get the mind prepared for sleep! Comes in handy over and over.

Agreed! I've added this to my goals list. Looking forward to experimenting with this and hopefully falling asleep with greater ease.

"What is the nature of reality?"
That sounds like the kind of question I ponder when I'm trying to fall asleep.
Maybe I need to try your illogical thoughts method sometime, too.

It's really exciting that you're interacting with your DCs in this way.
I look forward to seeing what else they say!

Wow! I didn't notice the conversation here.

NyxCC and CanisLucidus... Yes, this is pretty much it. Usually I just start with a random word and match it with something that rhymes. Harry, scarry, blarry, larry, starry. It doesn't have to be real words even. Then it usually branches off into random images and ideas and next thing I know I'm gone. I should probably try to figure out how to hold on to my awareness when I do this.

Thanks ~Dreamer~ I have been really interesting in my DCs lately. I've had a few more experiences since this dream but I think I'm getting bored with it for now.

Interesting you start getting images from this technique as well. I did two decent trial nights with some interesting results. First one posted here:

There may indeed be some potential of this technique for wilding too.

Well it is taken from Jeff777's Free-falling WILD technique! I think I may give his write up another thorough read.
