      Into the Wild

I am in Southern Oregon, in the Red Buttes wilderness, camping with some friends. It is a beautiful summer afternoon. Everyone is doing their own thing and I go to the campfire and see that the salmon steaks that are on a spit are almost done.

I go off to find everyone. They went down the trail that goes South. I walk down the trail and it goes over the summit of a mountain pass and then I am in Northern California. There are redwoods all around suddenly. I am with my friends now and we walk down to a beautiful mountain lake and we decide to go swimming. The edges of the lake have an underwater shelf or ledge so it stays pretty shallow for ten feet or so and then drops off into deep waters. This place is similar to my special place, but it is not the same place.

There we are, swimming in the water, all four of us. On the opposite beach we see four birds: A turkey vulture, an eagle, and two owls. If I were lucid, which I am not, I would look for Darkmatters. Maybe he is one of us four, but I don't know who the other three people are, just that they are my friends.

At the same time, the four birds launch and swoop into the water and swim towards the four of us. Raptors can't swim, can they? But they are swimming. When they get to us they reach out their claws and each one takes one of our hands and leads us back to the opposite shore where they were. Now they sit in the shallow water upon the shelf but they are one giant bird with four heads: an vulture head, an eagle head, and two owl heads.

We get out and explore and we find that there is a bunch of discount outlet stores here! Darn it! I thought I found a remote place in the wilderness where no people go. I tell my friends that the salmon is probably done and we should head back to our camp. But they think I am just making excuses because I am scared of the wilderness. They want to go shoe shopping.

      Another Into the Wild

I am kayaking in Alaska with some friends. We kayak up to the edge of a huge glacier. The ice is very beautiful - the way the water is lapping at the edges, making ice caves underneath the glacier at water level. The aqua-blue-white of the ice and the layers of translucents and opaques and the way the light plays with it and the water. So beautiful and peaceful.
      Spoiler for big pictures:

I look up. The top of the glacier was WAY up there. It was massive. It reminds me of the cliffs of the Na Pali coast in Kauai, but made of ice. So awesome was this mountain of ice that I became a little nervous should a chunk fall off on me. I did not want an iceberg to fall on me. Also I know how icebergs explode when they land in the water, the same way ice-cubes crackle when you put them in a drink. So I kayaked a safe distance away into the ocean. Then Lo! The Humpback whales arrive!!!!
      Spoiler for MORE BIG PICS:

A few times they have showed up in dreams past as harbingers of lucidity.

My friends and I get out of the water just past the glacier and park our kayaks. We knock on the door of some cabin/inn in this fishing village. A man answers the door and invites us in. He is a friend of someone in our party and we are to be his guests for the remainder of our time in this town. He looks at me suspiciously. We take our boots off and sit down and have coffee. Our host reminds me of Cliff's roommate (Cliff is an old friend of mine whom I worked for and his roommate was an asshole. He only ate redmeat, nothing else, and he claimed he was a master healer, but his place was filthy and smelled horrible and had flies all over it eating all the leftover steak grease).
I don't get a good vibe from our host. He gets it into his head that I am having an affair with his wife.
Spoiler for The cabin and the jealous guy:

I tell him "No way, man. Relax! I wouldn't fool around with a married woman, and I wouldn't betray your hospitality that way, and besides, I just met both of you two minutes ago."

He grumbles something and we all start making music. There are other guests there who are musicians as well. I pick up a guitar that is laying there. I am looking at my hands and seeing which frets I am playing. One song has these chords: C/E7/A minor/C7/F9/E7/A minor/D9/D9, F9/G+,G/C/G7. Just a blues song. Now I notice that I have chocolate syrup on my hands and I stop playing. I am confused, how did I get chocolate syrup on my hands?

The guy got up and grabbed the guitar and yelled at me. He yelled "THAT is my WIFE'S guitar and I don't appreciate YOU playing it without asking me." I look over at his wife and she obviously was enjoying the music I was playing. He shoves this homemade instrument into my hands to play instead. It looks like a broken piece of plywood with metal springs and things attached. He thinks that I won't be able to play it because it is a piece of crap, but if you know me you know I can make music out of anything. It sounds beautiful.

I am beginning to get angry with this alpha dude because I have no interest in his Eskimo wife. So I look down at my hands playing this fucked up kalimba when I suddenly realize that my hands, this instrument, this whole scenario is just a dream! I look over at this angry guy glaring at me and I felt such love for him and compassion because he is so threatened by me and insecure because he thinks that he actually exists separately from me; he doesn't realize that his nature is emptiness and he is just a part of a dream.

I knew he wouldn't understand it if I tried explaining it so I turn to CNDR and say: "Let's get out of here." I take her hand and we teleport to a tropical beach and there are the humpback whales in the water. Then I wake up

This is a dream from last year:
      Flying Cats
I am by a small tree in a meadow near the edge. I am sitting under the tree trying to figure out a rubik's cube but just when I am about to solve it all the colors are all messed up again. I notice a shadow fall on me so I turn around and look into the tree. There is an owl sitting on the branch looking at me. Then it swoops out of the tree and turns into half-cat in midair. As it lands it turns into all cat. The cat comes up and rubs against my legs and I pet it. It is purring. Then another owl jumps out of the tree and turns into a cat and comes over. Pretty soon there are about five owls jumping out of the tree turning into cats and jumping back, turning into owls and landing back in the tree. They keep doing this. As they land they roll around on their backs like happy cats when they get high on catnip. They are like little owl/cat griffins.

      Another dream from last year:

The Story Time Cafe Presents: A Night In the Faerie Kingdom
I am with Mieko one late full moon night in a park. I give her one of my magic potions. We share it actually. It is Datura and Mushroom tea I want to show her a little bit of my world, you know? Because she has never known anything out of the ordinary.

We walk around and we walk up to a large oak tree. There is a wooden door in the side of the oak tree with a brass knocker on it and a doornob and wrought iron hinges. "Watch this!" I say and I knock on the door. An old elf lady answers the door. She is about four feet tall and wearing a shawl.
"Come in, come in!" She says. Mieko seems apprehensive so I smile at her as if to say "It's alright, come on." And we walk in down a spiral staircase. The old lady is very happy to have us there. The stairway opens into a large living room/kitchen. It is dimly lit. She introduces us to her husband who is an old hippie elf. He looks like he had a hard life smoking pot so he decided to retire, relax and smoke pot, you know the kind? He smiles at us but seems too stoned to talk.
The wife offers us some cookies (elves make the best cookies) but I politely decline and I give Mieko a look as if to say "don't eat food from this world if you want to come back." The wife says that the cookies used to turn out better when they used wood to burn in the oven, but the park rangers made them switch to gas. I think that is funny that 1. the park rangers even know you guys are here, and 2. They could make you change from wood to gas.
Together the husband and wife lead us back to the staircase which goes deeper into the ground. I can see that there is a whole world down there! Or a whole underground city village full of little houses like this. The husband says "Won't you go deeper?" I want to go but Mieko wants to go home and fold laundry.
So we don't go. We climb back up the stairs and out the tree trunk and there we are next to the old oak tree again. The breeze blows the branch aside and a beam of moonlight lands on me and when it does, I see that really I am all alone burying a toad under the tree! It is kind of like in the first pirates of the Caribbean movie when the moon shines on the bad pirates you see who they really are: skeletons. But in this case I was really alone burying a toad, not with Mieko! I felt confused like I was having a Datura flashback.

Anyway, that lasts for only a second and Mieko and I go into town to a place called "The Story Time Cafe". This is a place parents can bring their children at night with their sleeping bags and pillows and leave them there while the employees read the kids stories all night so the parents can go out. All the parents are going to this concert so we go also.

At the concert I wander away from Mieko and run into the old hippie elf! He has some more hippie elf friends with them and they ask me to be in their band! They like the way I play music. I say "Well, I'll have to think about it. I don't think I can make it down underground for practice that often."
"That's OK!" said the hippie elf. "We can come up here to practice, but we will have to play shows underground." "Alright!" I say.

I run into Mieko again and I tell her about it but she says that I won't have time to be in a band because I have to mow the lawn everyday.

Then I am on the stage at the Story Time Cafe telling this to the kids. It was all a story I was telling! I am sitting up in a sleeping bag on stage.

THE BUZZING OF THE BEES TANTRA

I am walking down a path in the woods with some people. I am excited and want to show them something even though I don't know what it is. Then it is just me and this girl I know walking down the path and hopping over fallen trees in the path. We arrive at this old shack or cabin. It is old and barely standing.

I go inside, now it is just me and I'm naked. I go inside the cabin and the whole inside is one giant bee hive. All the walls are beehive. There is sun shining through the cracks in the slats illuminating lots of honey. The honey is dripping down the walls and from the ceiling I am eating it up! I am licking it and scooping it with my hands like a Pooh Bear. There are big happy honey bees flying in and out of the cabin.

Presently the buzzing gets real loud. A loud droning coming from everywhere. My body starts buzzing as if my atoms are turning into energy (too much sugar?). I am vibrating blissfully. It is quite a sexy feeling. I am getting turned on. And then I hear the sound of drums. There is a drum circle somewhere nearby.

I use my Xray vision to look through the walls and see that there are a bunch of tribal people wearing bee masks surrounding the hive and playing drums. I continue eating honey amongst the loud drone of bees and the primal beat of the drums.

      Made in the Shade

I am in a hot city with Spanish moss hanging from the trees. It is somewhere in the South. I am driving a car and I am wondering how the heck I got all the way over here. It is dusk and there is a lot of bars and music and nightlife.
Now I am walking by a river that goes through the city that is kind of underground, but open at the ceiling so I can still see the sky but there are pedestrian bridges going over the river. There are a lot of restaurants and bars outside so I don't know if I'm inside or outside. And drunk people celebrating joyfully. I can't tell if I'm in San Antonio or New Orleans.
I go around the corner and there is an old black blues guitarist sitting on a stool smiling at me. He has a harmonica in a harness around his neck, a tambourine under one foot and a rattle sticking out of his shoe. He has a hat on and transparent sunglasses. He looks kind of like Jiminy cricket.
He says to me: "Looks like you got it made in the shade!"
      Me: "Made in the shade?"
Him: "And having fun in the sun>"
Me: "Well, I feel like I'm too rattled to shake and too stoned to roll."
Him: "Well I'm gonna give you a piece of advice, but I'm gonna let it out slow and lay it on you easy, so you can dig it. You got it made in the shade but you don't know it. You gotta be like rubber man."
      Me: "Rubber band?"
Him: "You can be like a rubber band if that's your thing but don't stretch yourself too thin. Then you can bounce back."
The whole time he is smiling so much and looking at me over his sunglasses that it is contagious and I start feeling real good.
Him: "You see, everyone's got their dues they have to pay and you always pay yours on time, so I came here to spread a little sunshine for you so you can see your way."
He kind of sings this last line while playing his guitar and then he goes into playing "I Feel Good" by James Brown. And he is stomping on that tambourine and stomping his other foot with the rattle and it is some good music! Then he starts blowing on that harmonica.
Him (singing): "You're one of us now, so rise up singing. Spread your wings and fly!"
Later Dan Akroyd and Bill Murray jump out from behind a wall and they are cops. "Freeze!" Yells Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd handcuffs me.
"Hey! Aren't you Bill Murray?" I say. "Shhhh. Don't tell anyone" he replies and then he lets me go. It seems like they were only testing me to see if I would recognize them. We're all good friends and laughing.
I woke up this morning feeling all good and singing "I Feel Good" all day as I drove for 8 hours. I just got back home and now I write this down.

It all started last night as I lay in bed with my mind wandering like a tumbleweed through an old ghost town. After a while I start focusing my mind into a point while relaxing my face, my jaw and the rest of my body.
I start sinking into deeper levels of relaxation. I become aware that I am in a hypnogogic state when I notice I am watching a pickup truck driving down a driveway, kicking up dust. So I focus on my dream task, which is to dreamshare with CNDR.

I am on the verge of WILDing and I sense many possible dreams to step into all swirling around me. I am invoking CNDR's energy and feeling for it. Then I see glimpses of her: her arm, her hair, her silhouette against the moonlight coming through the window. I smell her and her hair. I hear her saying "Is it working?" or "It is working!" Or something very similar. Keep in mind I am not in the dream, but trying to completely fall asleep and enter the dream. But my monkey-mind starts getting excited and I try to calm it but the swirling wheel of dreams recedes a little. I can no longer see or hear or smell my dreams but I can still feel CNDR with my feeling sense. But eventually my mind comes back and starts wandering as the dreamtime slips away.

      Organic Mechanic
I go hang out with a musician friend of mine (Greg) and a friend of his at a hotel lobby. Greg's friend wants us to stay and watch Emerson, Lake, and Palmer play a show. I don't think that I will stay, it costs to much and I am not a fan. But Palmer is a good drummer.
I notice that Greg's friend is vacuuming my car. He is vacuuming pieces of broken glass and I notice my windshield has a hole in it. Damn! He tells me he saw some shady guy break into it. I take the car to an auto body shop and ask them how much it will cost to fix it.
      Mechanic: "What happened here?"
ME: "Some asshole broke my windshield"
Mechanic: "Don't worry about it. We'll take care of it. There's no charge"
They started working on my car. Hey that is very nice of them to fix my windshield for free! I am going to recommend this place to my friends. But how can they afford to fix it for free. Surely they will have to charge me for at least the cost of the new windshield. I get the bill back and it is $500! I start talking to the guy and he says:
Mechanic: "This is how much it would have cost if I had charged you. This is for my hourly rate, as well as the hourly rate of the guy who made the windshield and the guy who delivered the windshield and the guy who made the glass for the windshield. You see, when you pay for something you pay for everybody who had anything to do with it, and they are all taking advantage of you because they are motivated by profit. But if they all realized like me that there is no such thing as money, the world would be a great place."
Me: "Hey, thank you! I will definitely recommend you to my friends"
Mechanic: "I am the Organic Mechanic

      KAUA'I DREAMING

I am in Kaua'i swimming in the ocean! The beautiful tropical sun is tanning my body and the sea breeze is filling my lungs. I hear the sounds of surf and the smell of coconut and guava. The white sand beaches are brightly reflecting the sun. I am kayaking around the island with Kayak Kaua'i (In Waking Life I used to Work for Kayak Kauai). We are out on the part of the ocean that goes around the corner of the Kalalau valley into the Polihale.

      Kalalau:

      Polihale:

The current is strong here and the fish are gathering. I become lucid. The owner's son, who is one of the guys with us, is a real asshole, and has always been an asshole to me just because he thinks he is the shit because his Dad owns Kayak Kauai. So I summon a shark to get him. A shark comes and heads for his kayak. He starts screaming and I am laughing. But then I remember to love my DCs so I decide to turn the shark into a dolphin. Now we have dolphins all around our kayaks out there in the ocean. But I am feeling a little mischevious so I turn the dolphin back into a shark and the guy freaks out agian. Then I cahnge it back into a dolphin and the guy relaxes. But he had lost his oar! He couldn't paddle his kayak and he starts drifting out on the riptide. I throw him my oar and I use mind power to power my kayak. It is like a motorboat or a jet ski, but all mind power! I get very involved with flying through the ocean on my kayak with the dolphins all jumping and spinning and racing me! I love dreaming!

      Pickle Frog Song

A little while later, I am back on land in some Hawaiian town hanging out on the lawn in front of some grocery store. This is not lucid. There is a little boy singing a song and picking his nose. The song goes:
"Pickle Packle Peek-a-boo, Pickle Packle Peek-a-boo"
but maybe it sounds more like "Picko Packo Pee-a-Boo"
I really like the song. CNDR comes up and I say "He is singing about his pet frog!" And CNDR starts laughing and we are both laughing joyously. The kid is very cute, picking his nose while he sings. His sister comes up and they both are chanting "Pickle Packle Peek-a-boo"
CNDR and I go into the store to buy some pickles but the owner tells us that they are all sold out since those kids started singing that song.
