    Contrast of Narratives

Two dreams that had a similar feel to them. They had a strong narrative structure and cast my dream self among the main character. Although I was not 'in control' of my dream self, but was simply observing my own exploits in a way. It was sort of like watching a TV show about myself.

The two narratives have some interesting contrast.

This country's government had been overthrown by some kind of supernatural thing, some kind of demon or something the country's secret program had been meddling with. I was in charge of escorting the princess, one of the few surviving family members, to a sacred mountain where she would be safe with her father and be able to help coordinate a counterattack. I just remember that she looked like Weiss from RWBY.

Pardon my language, but this was the biggest bitch of a dream character that I think I've ever met. My god was she annoying, and these dreams were narratives, so I didn't even have to interact with her directly. I remember we had to hike through some woods and mountains to get to where we were going. Dream time meant that it felt like hours of hiking and her whining. I remember at one point she complained that her feet hurt from the walking. I took her shoes and broke the heels off. Then she complained that I had ruined her shoes, she refused to walk anymore and told me that I had to carry her.

We had to make camp for the night. She refused to gather firewood because there were bugs on the logs. She refused to eat the fish I caught because it smelled funny and was served on a stick, but complained that she was hungry for half the night. She complained that her dress got dirty. She complained that her hair looked bad.

I eventually got fed up with her and opened a lecture on toughing things out more. She didn't want to hear it, and tried to slap me. She just became increasingly frustrated and decided that she would be better off walking to the mountain herself, in the night, alone.

    *Kzzht! Laser guided karma inbound.*

Some of the demons captured her in the night. (Though I swear they were the beetle drones from Samauri Jack.) I remember she had like a fencing sabre type sword like Weiss too. She managed to fight a few of them off, but got captured.

In the morning, I awoke. I realized that she had been captured (don't know how I knew that.) and somehow made my way to the location where she was held captive. Apparently the antagonists were trying to hold her hostage and try to get a ransom out of the kingdom. I found my way there, a rocky tundra above the treeline. I ninja'd around the enemy camp and found her in a jail cell. I told her we were going to get her out. She said that she didn't need my help. So I started to leave, but then she confessed that she did need my help and broke down crying.

She managed to alert the baddies with her petty groveling. A whole horde of the beetle drones surrounded me and I fought them all. I let her out of the cell and surprise surprise she was mad at me, apparently because A.) I didn't come to rescue her fast enough. B.) I didn't let her out of the prison cell to help fight. She tried to slap me again and I blocked it and slapped her.

I basically had to scold her like a small child. (I swear her character became younger looking at this part too.) I told her that she was a princess and one day would probably be queen of her country, but she was such a disgustingly disrespectful person that she would never make a good leader. Whine Whine Whine I'm a princess everyone should care about me, the whole world revolves around me! me! me! me! I told her leaders don't just have respect by birthright, they have to earn it through noble actions.

Her father showed up. The dream broke down there or I just forgot what happened. I just remember what the father character looked like, and that he rode around on a white and gold zeppelin. He was a man of small stature, not much bigger than my dream self. He had black hair in a comb-over and a blue military outfit. He had a mustache and a sword like his daughters'. Unlike his daughter he seemed really nice and I think he told me a joke but I forgot what.

    ...

I remember the second dream was centric around me and Manei (my dream guide for anyone who's new). The story was that there was this forbidden Aztec temple that was said to have a treasure at the top of the pyramid. Supposedly the pyramid was cursed and someone would only be able to get the treasure if they were pure of heart or whatever.

The curse had other rules, like that only parties of two could get the treasure. If a lone wanderer came, they would be killed because they had nobody to help them, and there were some video-game style collaborative puzzles (Like two people have to pull levers at the same time to get to the next room and stuff.). If a large party came, then members would be killed off at random until there were only two left. But there was also a rule that the party of two also had to be in competition with another party of two. So actually four people were on the pyramid at one time. But they were two teams of two trying to get the treasure, climbing up from opposite sides. (Good god this is some convoluted Disney magic or something.)

I remember that the teams had signifies. Manei and I wore red and the other team wore blue.

I don't remember much of the dream, but there were three phases. Phase 1 was navigating the city ruins below the pyramid. I don't remember much of this. Pretty basic booby traps, and I think giant jungle spiders. Made it through here without any trouble.

Next we had to climb the pyramid. This part was actually a lot less challenging. I think there were big pipe holes in the side of the pyramid that boulders came out of, but (like with all aztec pyramids) there were stairs up the sides, and boulders would never come down the stairs. I think one of them rolled on its own into the side of the stairs and broke them loose.

I remember the environment shifted and the steep stairs became more like a cliff. I grabbed Manei with one hand and the rope with the other. (I don't know why we had a climbing rope on stairs, but I guess its a good thing we did.) I pulled her up. She asked why I was so committed to saving her, and I told her it was because I knew she would do the same thing for me.

We got to the top of the pyramid. Phase 3. There was a temple that we had to climb to the top of. Apparently the treasure was some gold or crystal object at the top of the temple on top of the pyramid. The temple wasn't nearly as tall but the whole outside and inside was covered in booby traps.
    (Hehehehe booby)

I suggested we stop and rest, but Manei insisted that we press on and just get the treasure. I told her we should probably climb up the outside of the temple. It looked dangerous, but there was no way it was AS DANGEROUS as going inside. She agreed and we started climbing the outside.

I swear the narrator said something about how Manei thought that being six foot four would help her, but apparently in this case it was a hindrance. I remember I was climbing and darts shot out from a trap in the side of the temple. I avoided them, but fell off and down about three or four stories. The platform on top of the pyramid opened and these traps opened and started catapulting rocks onto me. It was then that Manei saw she was just out of reach of the treasure, but the other team was about to get it. But instead she had to swing down on the rope and save me by disabling the trap somehow.

I remember a scene that went on for awhile. I was facing away from her and my hair was long and ragged. I turned around and said we should leave the cursed temple in a very serious tone. I remember when I turned around one side of my face was injured from the rock and it caused my eye to turn from blue to brownish orange.

Hangon; let me get this straight: My mismatched eyes, one of the most significant dream symbols I've ever had was caused because of something as mundane as a malfunctioning booby trap that threw a rock at me?

Anyways, we ended up walking back down the stairs that had been replaced. Apparently it was the nature of the curse that while people were leaving no traps would attack them.

I then remember it showed the competitors. (I swear they looked like DreamCafe and Dawn, so I'll call them that.) I remember DreamCafe look-alike took the golden balls off the top of the temple. (Thief and the Cobbler reference? Really?) But when she did they upset her balance and she fell off the temple. The weight of the golden balls she was holding crushed her and presumably killed her. They then rolled down the side of the pyramid and right into the back of a very out of place pink pickup truck. Dawn was crying but he was rich with his treasure. Apparently this was also a part of the curse. One of the people from the group would die getting the treasure and it was undecided who.

The dream went back to focusing on Manei and I walking away. I remember there was this Indiana Jones type character who wanted to go into the temple but a big waterfall pushed him out.

Narrator: "But it was then that they realized discovered the greatest treasure of all, the treasure of true friendship."

    *Wakes up*

Well okay, that is the most cliched ending to any dream I think I've ever had.

Wow, that princess was really messed up to you in the dream but at least your character managed to pull through in the end. Even with all those nuisances.

o.o And I thought the princess was messed up.

I had a feeling something like that was about to happen.

lol There were some pretty screwed up deaths in that dream but on the bright side you guys learned a lesson and got out safe and sound. Even if it was cliche.
