    Hit the snooze

Every morning, I attempt to get up out of bed after my alarm has gone off the first time. I hit the snooze, fall back to sleep, then wake up about half an hour later. During this ritualistic awakening, I usually have some very vivid and bizarre dreams. (Must be some credibility to the WBTB method) My wife and I are walking down a road that is surrounded by trees on both sides. Every now and then, a fence emerges from the woods and we are able to make out the shape of someone's property. Most of it is very overgrown, but we come across a fenced-in field that has mushrooms growing all over the place. This should have triggered a LD because I have numerous dreams where the mushroom is a signal flare to dreaming. These were also not any ordinary mushrooms as they were growing out of absolutely everything and were a lot larger than normal. We continue on down our journey - the snooze alarm goes off and I hit it again.

I am in an older country style house, very rustic furniture without being "YEE HAW" Texan trash. My boss is there watching television in her room. We are talking about some of the conversational errors that I have made in the past and laugh it off. Sometimes I feel like I am a bumbling idiot when I am trying to sound professional. This has to do with this. I am assuming it means to not take things so seriously around here, because as serious as she can seem, she is probably not so out of touch with reality like I make my bosses out to be. The conversation continues and we start talking about Italians for some reason. At this point I think she might have made a move at me, which is very odd and I cannot even remember it because it would be so far beyond the point of reason that my head would melt into nothingness if such a thing did happen. She mentions something about offering payment, which I refuse, then politely I leave the room.

In the next room, there is my entire family gathered around a very small piano. The piano only has about twenty keys, and they are looking into the back part where the strings are exposed. Jenny points to a very small gecko that is being chased by what looks like a larger lizard with a snake head. The lizard catches the gecko in its mouth, then slowly starts to eat it. The sound of the piano strings being plucked by their little claws is maddening. I look away, out to the window, and realize that the field we saw earlier is the property we are on.

I hate missing the chance to LD. I know that understanding the dream signs and being able to notice things that are so incomprehensibly strange are crucial to learning the skill, but I am making slow progress. I have been trying to have a lucid dream for the past several months, and now that school is coming to an end for the summer, I feel like I will be able to give it the practice it takes to have them.

Have you had a go at the WBTB technique properly? Or is it just hitting snooze every time?
