    1. 29 Jul: Dying tortoise and salvaging stuff from a market

      Some place with a large table in the middle of a garden. It has pots and plants and all sorts of clutter and then I spot a large tortoise almost looking like clay, in the middle of it. I realize it is a real tortoise, but she is so dehydrated, she is turning brown. I open up a path through the stuff on the table to access the critter and immediately it moves toward the edge of the table and plunges her head in a tall vase with wated that is below the table. The tortoise drinks tons of water, seems to regain some vitality. I wonder who trapped the poor bugger in there.

      On a bus returning from a day on the beach or something. Seems one of my childhood memories when I used to go with other kids on a kind of open summer camp, in which we returned home at the end of the day. I am accompanied by my school friend Mara and her nasty brother. I am taking a ride home with their mother who is picking us up on her van. While we wait, I find a box with some used sneakers by the side of the dumpster. Ricardo mocks me for picking it up but I tell him I sell hundreds of items like these every month and make a buck from it. He doesn't seem to believe, but he shuts up and goes away. Then I notice that there are a couple dumpsters full to the brim with pairs of shoes, used and new. I wish I could pick them all. Then their mother arrives and I ask if she has bags on her van. She has a blue plastic trash bag and a blue IKEA shopping bag. I ask her to wait for me while I fill them up. Then someone points out that there is a street market just behind the dumpsters and someone just abandoned an entire workbench with new and unused baby clothes for anyone to take home. I go grab them first and stuff the two bags with it. Then my mother appears out of nowhere and tells me my friends had to go to the toilet at a café, so we can spend a bit more time here. She also finds another abandoned workbench full of handmade bijouterie and artwork inspired by cottagecore and elves, fairies, etc. The bijouterie is all in large boxes and she stacks them in order to carry it all to the van without bags.
    2. Conversation and a Trip

      In the first dream I remember a new guy moved in who was a newly enrolled student of the nearby university. The apartment building had only one story instead of two. As he walked out he door I offered to help him carry stuff to the dumpster. I thought I would give him good advice about college but instead I just talked a lot about dumpsters and gave him stupid advice about dumpsters like "If you get to the dumpster and it is full, just empty out the stuff, put it on the ground, and put your stuff in." Then after I went back into my apartment I felt stupid for talking so much about dumpsters.

      Then there was a fragment of me with my dad waiting in line at a store.

      Then I had a dream about talking with an old friend. I don't know exactly who he was but in the dream he had been my former friend. We were listening to Pandora radio, which was playing mostly rock songs. My friend said the title at the beginning of several consecutive songs and would be like "Yea I like this one." He was would write stuff down every once in a while, maybe song lyrics, and I said something like "Are you taking down notes about life?" While I was talking to this guy, there seemed to be a former girl friend of mine telepathically communicating with me, telling me about the love between her and her boyfriend. I said out loud to the guy, "Yea. I know him." And the guy responded normally like he was the girl talking about her boyfriend but it was my guy friend.

      Then I was on a trip with my boyfriend, his brother, and a girl. My boyfriend's brother was driving, in some kind of large truck. We had been driving for over a hour when we realized a piece of the truck was missing, a black plastic vent like thing that fit into a hole below the right rear view mirror. Although it didn't seem like a necessary part of the truck, my boyfriend's brother seemed disgruntled as he turned back to go get the missing part for the truck.
    3. The Royal Australian Navy

      This is the second dream from a pair of lucids that I had last night.

      Lucid #133: The Royal Australian Navy

      I'm outside helping my friend "The Schwartz" throw a bunch of random junk into a dumpster by an apartment complex. We heave a big box of rusted old crap into the dumpster "Are you sure they'll take all of this stuff?" I ask.

      "Sure," he says. "This dumpster's always moving around to different places in the city. That must mean they come to take the garbage out of it." I nod, accepting this. But when I look into the dumpster, I see a shipping pallet that I'm planning to bust into pieces next week (in waking life.) I can't understand how it would have gotten mixed in with The Schwartz's stuff. I nose pinch reality check and
      become lucid.

      "This is a dream," I tell him. The Schwartz frowns thoughtfully and nods his head. For some reason, I decide to give him a password as if this were some kind of shared dreaming experiment. "I'm going to give you a password."

      "A password?"

      "Yeah." I consider explaining but decide not to. I no longer even know why I'm doing this. "The password is butterfly." He nods again, not particularly interested.

      Okay, time to get out there and do something with this. I look up at the sky and see a huge, awkward bird flying by that looks like a pelican. I try to fly but for some reason I don't budge.

      I notice that the pelican flew right by a cluster of very weird objects floating in the sky -- the cab of an 18-wheeler, a barrel, and other random objects like that. I focus on the objects, expecting myself to rise, and this time it's no problem. In a few seconds, I'm about a hundred feet in the air.

      As I look out over the landscape, I expect for there to be an ocean nearby. It works better than expected -- there's a huge, sparkling sea laid out in front of me! It's packed with military vessels, probably about two dozen destroyers.

      Each of the destroyers has an emblem of the American flag on its hull. I think that this flag should be Australian for Australia's Task of the Year. The flag changes as soon as I think this, switching to what I believe at the time is the Australian flag. (But is actually the UK flag, oops. )

      I'm amused that the flags changed to be "just so", and I'm laughing as I fly past the ships to the open sea. I want to start the Great Barrier Reef task, so I plunge straight into the water at high speed. For some reason, though, my vision goes black when I hit the water. I can still feel myself swimming, though, so I keep paddling "underwater" in a pseudo-breast stroke. I probe at my body while continuing to swim, but eventually the feeling of water subsides. After a while,
      the dream ends entirely.
    4. Red-Haired Singers, Troll Hunting, and Books

      I've been awful at writing down my dreams for the past couple of months, so I'm trying to get back into it again. Here are the last three dreams I've recorded:

      Dream #1:

      Really brief dream which I don’t really remember. Something about watching an interview with some singer or something. I think he has red hair. And he talks about how he likes to hang out near dumpsters.

      Dream #2:

      I’m part of a group of kids and we are all troll hunters. We are summoned to a town that has some kind of troll infestation. We have special troll-killing weapons that we always refer to as “troll-floggers.” These weapons are basically just sticks with a spiky ball at the end. So, I guess they’re kind of like flails.

      Anyway, we go into this one house that looks like my grandparents’ house. And then we’re like, “Oh no, we forgot our troll-floggers! … Oh well, we can fight the troll with our bare hands.”

      But then we get to the bottom of the stairs (we’re walking downstairs for some reason … I guess the troll is in the basement or whatever). And the troll there is SUPER GIGANTIC. So we’re all like, “Shiiiiit!”

      Then one girl in the group jumps over the banister holding a hammer and I guess she’s going to use it to kill the troll. But then, the troll turns into a glass measuring cup. And she keeps smashing and smashing it. And then it like … turns into a dog … and she stabs it in the neck. I don’t know, it doesn’t make a lot of sense.

      Dream #3:

      I'm in a room with my sisters. There's bookshelf in the room and we're all discussing books. I see a book I've been meaning to read on the bookshelf and I'm like, “Oh, I didn’t know we owned that book. My mom must have bought it at the used book store.” And then I'm telling my sisters about a series I'm reading. It involves a bear and a dog who are friends, or something. There are four books in the series, but each book is actually made up of several shorter books. I'm trying to convince my sisters that these books are good, but they don't believe me. (It's kind of like trying to make them read books in real life...)
    5. Digging through Trash

      This is a dream added from a few months earlier.

      I've never picked through garbage before like some homeless people do. But last night, I was doing precisely that.

      It was probably the middle of the day, because the sky was light and blue. I was outside a bank building made from slightly worn red bricks; the sign of whatever was inside the building was navy blue but the name and logo of the company was skewed, so I couldn't remember what it was like. There was an alley in between this building and another one, and I was looking for stuff. I wasn't homeless, but I guess I was just randomly searching for trinkets. I walked towards a rectangular green dumpster in the alley and opened it up.

      There wasn't anything garbage-like about the items inside. There were brand new articles of clothing, neatly wrapped up in plastic bags, and new toys still in the box. I remember seeing a yellow remote-control race car and something that looked like a Barbie doll. I dug around a bit more and saw some sort of silver coin, around the size of a nickel, sitting on one of the other plastic bags. I held it out and showed my sister, who happened to magically appear while I was looking in the garbage. "Look, I found a coin!" I told her.

      "It's just a coin," she told me, rolling her eyes and turning away.

      "I know, but these are worth a million dollars nowadays!" I told her, trying to persuade her that I wasn't crazy or something.
