    1. 2013, July 3 or 4?; Lake of Fire

      by , 09-06-2013 at 11:37 PM
I had a dream similar to the Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb video game, After the Nazi was trying to kill Indiana; Mr. Jones was running around in a desert with the murder machine still after him, Running very fast (As if he was on ten bottles of Skooma, A drug from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion) on the crests of sand dunes. He then came up to a lake of fire and lava at the north end of the desert and I saw it from up high; There were towns all around and few had green in them. There was a false Jesus statue to the right near a lava river and later I ended up seeing in a building on the north side of the lake where someone may have been ambushed.

This reminded me of the Nirvana cover of the Meat Puppets song "Lake Of Fire" at the time.
    2. Raiders of the Lost Colosseum

      Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid

Lucid #120: Raiders of the Lost Colosseum

I'm an Indiana Jones type of character. I'm in a huge stone chamber, deep underground, sitting on a platform on the arm of some strange metallic device. The device appears to be some kind of scale, with two arms extending to the side, my butt planted firmly on the left arm.

There are square receptacles along each arm and I'm holding a square-shaped block. I'm somehow supposed to fit into the right spot in order to make the scale balance and unearth some kind of treasure.

It occurs to me that I might be dreaming and
I quickly decide that I am. I'm fascinated by this device, though, and want to keep playing with it. I try the little square block in a couple of different receptacles, which seems to lower and raise the platform I'm sitting on. After doing this for a bit, I blank out and go into the void. It's pretty sudden, and I lose track of my dream body.

Now I'm seated at my kitchen table, semi-lucid and slightly confused. There's a weird cord hanging down by the back door like something that would go with a set of blinds. I don't recogznize it, and I realize that I'm still dreaming.

I phase through the door into the yard. It looks like my yard, but the sky is orange and the fencing around my pool is missing. There's a strange ripple in the water of my pool, and I walk toward it to investigate. When I'm a few feet away, though, my vision goes black and I wind up in the void.

I'm determined not to lose my dream body this time, so I quickly lick my right hand, then rub my hands together. (Why lick first? Nobody knows.) I poke at my jaw, chest, stomach, and weenie. All are present and accounted for, and I'm satisfied that my dream body is intact.

Now I want to get to the Colosseum. I drop down to one knee and rub my right hand in the ground, expecting to feel Colosseum sand in my fingers. Immediately I do. Now I recall that in the past I had imagined a gladius (ancient Roman sword) in my hand and started swinging it around to transition out of the void. I decide to do this again.

I feel the weight of the sword in my hand as I whirl it around like a crazed chimp. I can hear the noise of a crowd all around me now and my vision's beginning to form. It's still blurry, but I know that I'm heading in the right direction. The momentum seems to give out at some point, though, and
      I wake up.
    3. Adventure time!

Once again I repeated to myself to become Lucid and have an adventure, right before I went to sleep. I continued to say it until I actually did fall asleep.

The dream was partially lucid. It was an Indiana Jones environment. I had on the outfit, leather jacket, the classic hat and even the whip. The location was a Middle Eastern town with off white building all around. I was just standing there holding the whip. There was a rectangle hole in front of me that look only about 12 feet deep, I could see the bottom. The idea was to use the whip on a metal pole and swing across the hole via Pit Fall style.

This is where it got cool. I was actually able to change the material of the whip. The dream went back and forth between what I was planning on doing (Swinging across the pit) and what I was actually doing (which was standing there).

I was mainly focused on if my weight would be supported by the type of material my whip was made out of. (Any time I hang from anything I estimated whether or not I can be supported). As I was thinking about the type of material my whip would be made out of I focused on the whip and the whip actually changed to what I was thinking about. I thought about a vine and the whip turned from the classic leather to what looked like a long think plant root shaped into a whip. For whatever reason I thought this was sustainable and used it on the hanging pole. As the vine whip latched on I woke up.

This was a great learning tool as I can feel the steps necessary to reach full lucid control. It's like I'm learning to walk or talk all over again, except learning this is ultimate for me.
    4. Indiana Jones and the TotY

      by , 01-10-2011 at 11:10 PM (Burke's Nightly Escapades)
Hooray! I got another part done! Did Indiana Jones this time

We were driving home form my grandmother and I fell asleep in the car. I had woke up to a light which my mom had apparently turned on and was a little dazed. I had looked out the window and couldn't see anything. It was snowing really hard and was a complete whiteout. I looked over and noticed my mom was now in the back with me (She was sitting in the front, but i didn't notice anything strange.) I looked down and she was reading a book. The letters were all kind of jumbled and didn't seem to make any sense. It was like they were in Arabic or something. This made me confused and i decided to preform a reality check just to be sure I wasn't dreaming, since i thought I wasn't.

It turns out i really was! I got so excited that I started to feel the dream fade, though it might've been a bump from the real world. I had realized that i was still asleep in the car and that the dream may start to shake every once in a while. I rubbed my hands together and focused on the heat. My hands started to get really hot and then caught on fire! I quickly blew them out and noticed my hands were kind of charred. Oh well, maybe it'll go away later. I thought to myself of what to do, and remembered the task of the year. I decided to do the indiana jones one since I had never seen the movie and wanted to see where my mind thought it took place. I closed my eyes and told my dad, who was driving, to take me to indiana jones and the ark of the covenant. He said okay and i felt the car start to go really fast.

I opened my eyes and noticed we were now in the desert, somewhere in egypt. I also saw pyramids in the distance. I figured that this was where my mind thought the ark of the covenant would be for some reason. It made no sense to me at the time but whatever, I didn't "consciously" pick it. My dad stopped the car in front of a pyramid. I got out and noticed it was very cold for being mid-day in the desert. It felt like it was only 50 degrees out and i was glad i had a sweatshirt on. I walked toward the pyramit and noticed a little indent in the wall and figured that this was where the entrance was. I pushed some bricks in and the whole wall started to slowly move. Then, the whole side of the pyramid just collapsed and i was buried in a pile of rocks and dust. I quickly dugged my way out and noticed some people running out of the pyramid, being chased by zombie pharohs! I was a little confused, but hey, they weren't chasing me!

I walked in a small corridor that the zombies had come out of and found torches on the side. I thought to myself, "How cliche... toches?" I grabbed one and started walking. I suddenely fell down this huge shaft and landed in a bunch of gold and artifacts. I climbed my way out and saw a large golden box with two angel figures on each side. I figured that this was the ark of the covenant, so i started to walk towards it. I thought to myself, "Wait... these things are always booby trapped." Bad idea! I was about halfway to the box and heard a quiet click. Acting quickly, I paused time, something I had perfected in another LD, and looked around. There were arrows coming at me from the sides! I walked over to them and lit them on fire with the torch. But when i un-freezed time, the arrows didn't keep flying. They just dropped out of the air.

I decided that i had enough with things falling on me, falling on things, and setting off booby traps, and just jumped over to the ark. A pretty fun experience since the ark was like 30 feet away. I pushed the huge top over and peered inside. It was hard to see, but i could make out a rectangular shape. I grabbed it and it was a thick book, about the width of a christian bible. I opened it up and just saw a bunch of nonsense. It was like a mix of all the languages. I saw some fmailiar japanese shaped, some things that looked like arabic, latin, and russian. I waved my hand over it and said out lout, "In english, please!" And so, it changed to english. I can't remember quite what it said (sucks, right?) But it was something like, "Religion is a hoax, the truth is yet to be revealed" or something like that. I didn't think much of it and decided to try and do another task, but I fast the whole world bump, and thought that the car was getting off the highway. I could feel the dream fading, and spun to try and keep it. Unfortunately, it didn't work this time and I
just woke up in the car. Turns out we were home already! The car ride was supposed to be a few hours, but whatever, i did part of the task!
    5. Monday, August 16, 2010

I'm actually kind of glad I didn't go lucid last night. I probably would have done something other than go through this totally awesome dream I had. It was super vivid and realistic...I seriously felt like I was there. And honestly, I might have been just a tad bit aware that I was dreaming, due to the car thing...but I'll just tell you what happened now.

It was a pretty normal day...to begin with. I had one of my video jobs to do that day, and it required a team of people driving from place to place all day long. We had it all organized and figured out, though, so it wasn't stressful or anything; just another thing to have to do for the day.

The first three film locations were easy and went smoothly. I got all the footage I needed, and everybody did what they were supposed to and did it well. We stopped back at the hotel we were staying in for lunch and planned out the remainder of the day--still normal. But when we were about to leave again, I went to the bathroom and on my way out discovered that everyone had left without me! I gathered up all my equipment as fast as possible and tried to run after the car, but they were already way too far off to hear me call, and it was impossible to run while carrying all that stuff.

Fortunately, a friend was driving by just then and he stopped to ask if I needed a ride. I got in his car (which was unnaturally small, and which I observed without gaining full lucidity, if any) and he took me where I needed to go. However, once at this final location, things would go anything but as planned...

I caught up with my team by nightfall. They were gathered in a dark alley, all of them evidently very scared.

"What the heck was that!?" I shouted. "Why did you guys just leave me back there with all the..."

      "SHHH!!!" They all replied desperately.

Then I saw what their problem was. A few feet away from me, out of the pitch blackness, a light turned on, and I heard the familiar sound of a Geth. Within moments, a million other similar lights turned on all around us, the same sound of communication echoed through the walls, and we knew we'd be dead in a few moments if we didn't get the heck out of there.

"Hey! In here!" I heard one of my team members shout.

We all turned around to see him at an elevator on the outside of one of the buildings. We got in as fast as was possible and rode it to the top floor, hoping to escape. But on our way up, we heard the chilling roar of a zombie, and soon witnessed several jumping down onto the glass roof of the elevator. Fortunately they were not too bright, and when they collided with it, they simply were thrown off from impact...but there were more where they came from.

We got to the roof and instantly looked for a door to get us inside and away from harm. We found one, but halfway there, I stopped everyone.

"No." I said. "We have to finish this!"

I clamped together the tripod legs on the camera I was carrying and tightened the camera itself so that it wouldn't budge from its position. It was a metal camera, and I figured it would make a great club.

      "We can take them."

My friends got the point and hurriedly threw together some makeshift weapons. Then we waited. Before long, zombies and Geth and headcrabs and other such creatures began climbing up the side of the building and trying to attack us. With a loud war cry, I swung the camera and tripod through the air, doing a spin move, and landed the camera right on the head of a zombie. It was thrown back over the side of the building and burst into pieces when it hit the ground (it was probably an 80-story fall).

It was a huge battle. We had to stop each and every creature from climbing onto the roof, or if they made it all the way up, we had to knock them off the edge immediately. My group and I were doing well, but it was only a few of us against millions of them. Even with my camera-club (which was by far the best weapon we had) and crazy attack moves we were slowly being pushed back.

I hurled my whole body against an oncoming zombie and threw him over the edge. The effort made me stumble and land on my knees right on the edge of the building just as another zombie was reaching up to pull himself to the top. I remember his face...skin totally white and rotted from death. His hands and arms had no skin left, just a bloody mess of muscles and bones. As I sat and watched this monster approach me, I thought for sure he would grab me and throw me over the edge before I would have a chance to do anything about it. And then...

The Indiana Jones theme began to play as the man himself burst out of the door behind us and start pulling off awesome moves with his whip and gun. Shortly after that, Lara Croft, Luke Skywalker, and Jake Sully (in his Avatar) showed up, too! We had a chance now, and with my renewed hope, I grabbed the face of the zombie with my bare left hand, ignoring how disgusting it was, and then bashed it in with the butt of my tripod. The creature screamed and then fell, defeated.

After that, the fight was an easy victory. The last thing I remember is peering over the edge and looking at all the bodies in piles below...

and then I woke up. But here's a funny little sidenote: all the moves I did in the dream with the tripod I can now do IRL! Hmm...
