    1. 16-07-22 Return to LA, Nazi Holocaust

      by , 07-22-2016 at 07:53 PM
I was back in Los Angeles. I've been there on holiday a few months ago. My brother was there was well. For a moment, I thought how weird it was that I could afford this. I have lost my job since then. Anyway, I was playing a console game in my room. My brother was going out to meet someone, and I think have dinner as well. He suggested I come with him. I didn't feel like it. We squabbled over this, he said I was a lazy bum and stuff like that. He eventually left by himself. He told me the street address of the place, something something Avenue. Left alone, I started to feel regret for not coming with him. I considering going after him, but his car was already out of view.

I was in a room with a bunch of other people. The Nazi's were going around and killing people everywhere. I remember seeing a pile of people, stacked up and then shot dead. Blood everywhere. It was gruesome. I hid, hoping the SS guys wouldn't see me. At some point they did find me. I ran outside, bashing past the Nazi's outside and fleeing through the city streets. I reached the "city gates", where I saw a strange monument. I heard the voice of the Führer, saying that if "he did not appreciate his new world, he should leave and never return", or something like that. Clearly referring to me.

I think the next scene was at a gas station (I think) outside the city (continuing the previous dream). I saw two older women, driving a bizarre kind of buggy. They were seated one in front of the other, like on a motorcycle, but almost laying down instead of seated. Weird. They were pretty oddly dressed, too. I almost suspected them of being trannies. The one in the rear had this weird "mutation" coming out of her chest. A small appendage, almost like a tiny arm. She was very self-conscious about this, but we nervously laughed it off. I asked for a ride, and they motioned that I had to sit on the rear one's lap. We drove back to the city. I remember the car having some kind of pole (?) sticking out (straight up) of the vehicle, and struggling to drive through a tunner or door (!). For a moment, I wondered why on Earth I wanted to go back to the city. It was Nazi-infested after all.

A half-dream, half-hallucination right before waking. I saw Nazi's violently forcing people (Mexicans?) into concrete rooms - gas showers.

I saw Jupiter, Mars, and Earth in one shot - obviously not to scale. Only Mars wasn't the barren red planet we know - it looked terraformed. I think I saw a continent on Mars, that looked like the Americas.

      More fragments/forgotten dream.
    2. Los Angeles, California

      by , 07-07-2016 at 12:25 PM (Journal #86)
The dream started when I rode in a car to the house of my late grandmother (mom's side) who passed away six months ago. From there the telephone rang as I was told that I had a dentist's appointment soon. A week later in the living room of my dad's house, I sit in the recliner in the living room asking my dad if he had any money to pay for a plane ticket, as it was all the way on the West Coast in Los Angeles. Dad had his TV tray with his big laptop on the table and his female friend who visits was sitting on the couch.

A few weeks later in the dream, I find myself in Los Angeles...but unfortunately, it looks like downtown Raleigh. I hear a rendition of Ain't It Fun by the band Paramore that is the work of British pianist Sam Yung (it's also on YouTube), and just as soon as the first verse ends (when he stops playing for a few seconds), the actual song's chorus plays with band frontwoman Hayley Williams' vocals just like it sounded on the band's 2013 self-titled album (which I enjoy, by the way), bass, electric guitar, percussion and all. I remember saying something about copyright. I also remember being on a bus near the back when I heard it. I suddenly have this feeling where there really wasn't a dentist's appointment in LA and that I may have been tricked. As soon as I heard Williams' vocals, I jumped and felt a funny feeling in my right leg and stomach. (I think this may have been my first lucid in a while.)

I remember dreams I've had from 2013-15 where towns and cities in southern California (Los Angeles (twice), Hemet High School, but one scene later) look like places in North Carolina that I may have been before (dentist's office in 2013, downtown Raleigh in 2014 and a random section in Wal-Mart in 2015 that looks like none of the stores I've visited in the state), leading me to think the two states are fighting over me and/or my writing works. I've also had Paramore dreams before, but Williams' hair has been different colors than the trademark red or orange.

(I credit the Carmen Sandiego series of computer games (I saw the game show on PBS first when I was younger) for inspiring me to do research on the two states in 1998-99 in the 7th grade.)
    3. Water Slide

      Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid

      Lucid #118: Water Slide

I'm walking down the central aisle of an airplane when I hear a voice to my right: "Hey [CanisLucidus]! Check out this view!" I look to my right and NewArtemis is waving me over and pointing at the window. "Have you ever seen Los Angeles from the air before?"

"[NewArtemis]!" I take the middle seat and say something about the last time I flew into LA. I talk about how it's been a long time since I was there and ask her what she's doing in LA.

"Same thing you are," she says. "The gymnastics conference." I feel like this is totally unexpected and don't know how to respond. Why don't I remember this? Since when do I care about gymnastics? Art points out the window again. "Look, that's the Staples Center!"

As I'm checking out LA through the window, a flight attendant makes an announcement that the plane will be landing shortly. Art stares at me pointedly, not saying anything. "Am I supposed to be doing something?" I ask, not following what's going on.

"Are you just going to leave your son all by himself while the plane lands?" Now I'm sure that my 2-year-old son "R" is all by himself several rows back. Panicked, I run toward the back of the plane without saying goodbye. When I get back to my row, I see some guy in the window seat and R crawling around freely on the middle seat. The guy turns to me and says something odd, and I wonder whether this is all a dream. As soon as I ask myself the question,
      I know the answer.

I look out the window again, and the plane is on the ground now. Passengers are starting to stand up at their seats and in the aisle. I stand up in the aisle myself and say, "[NewArtemis], come back this way. I'm going to Angel Falls." Almost immediately she slips past some guy standing in the aisle and appears near my row. I start narrating partly to her but mostly to the dream itself. "Okay, this plane took us right to Angel Falls." We walk through the doorway of the airplane and down a short set of stairs covered by a canopy.

"Can you fly?" I ask her. But I correct myself: "You can fly." And she floats past, bouncing along the canopy ceiling before reaching the end and floating up temporarily out of sight. Now I hear the roar of a waterfall and I'm feeling really excited. I start flying, too, and I wind up bouncing along just like she did before I break out into the open.

The waterfall is there, but it's really just a waterpark slide sitting on an open stretch of runway. The ride's about 30 feet tall, quite steep, and looks like fun. It's got a banner stretched over its exit with its name... something like, "_____ Raging River _____", with a couple of words I can't recall. Art and I fly over to the top of the slide, me just slightly in front. It's 4 "lanes" of slides right next to each other, and I take the 2nd from the left. I think that Art wound up further behind me in the same lane. I reach the bottom, zooming past a couple of portly kids in lanes #1 and #3.

As soon as I hit the bottom of the slide, I hop up again, expecting Angel Falls to be in front of me. And indeed, in front of me is the top of a huge waterfall. This one's got a banner stretched over the top of it, too: "Angel Falls". But it's still some kind of ride, not the real waterfall. It's close. A very impressive, realistic (almost scary) ride, but still a ride. I shout something back to Art about how this probably doesn't count. She says something I can't remember and indicates she's still here.

The dream still feels really stable and vivid, but I'm reluctant to waste any time, so I leap over the waterfall feet-first. Immediately I'm drenched and in freefall. After a few seconds of that, I land smoothly on some kind of big, steep plastic slide and travel along it for maybe another 20 seconds before things flatten out just a bit and the slide takes me underground. I'm still moving at a good pace but no longer at the crazy speeds of before.

The slide flattens out and broadens, and I slide past a few other riders that I'm sharing the slide with. When I feel myself slowing down, I find that I can sort of spin on my butt and gain a little speed. One DC that I pass asks me how I'm doing this and I tell him that I'm having a lucid dream.

After a while, the slide narrows and finally ends. There's a long line of DCs waiting to exit the "ride". I think about whether I should wait in line, then remember that I need to still find the real Angel Falls. I'm thinking about how to do this when
      the dream ends.
    4. Short LDs

      Old Dream from 4-22-07

      Dream 8:

I was standing by a car on a street in LA where my best childhood best friend lived. I could see kids all playing outin the street. I wondered in anyone would recognize me.

Then they started running and one shouted at me "The bandits are coming! Hide in you car."

I looked down the street which was no empty of children and saw these guys on motorcycles coming down. They had guns and were shooting into the houses. I knew my car wasn't the safest, but I knew if I ran toward I house at this point would justmake me an easy target.

So I got in the car and ducked down low.

I suddenly realized that my car was moving down the street. They guys on motorcycles were following me.

We got a a big intersection and were about to turn. I distintly remember thinking, "I can just watch this as a movie. I don't have to participate."

      That thought made me LUCID.

I realized that I didn't have to stay in the car and be chased by the guys with guns. I could make them all go away.

I wanted out of the car. I remembered a recent thread on DV about how LDs could be dangeous if you do things that could kill you in real life. So I decided I didn't want to just open the door and jump out--I might be starting a bad habit.

But before I could figure out a solution, the car door opened on its own, so I flew out. I flew up to the top of a building. I landed and thought for a second about what I wanted to do as my Task for this dream. I thought about the coming Task for May. I debated for a moment on whether I should try it or not. I knew it was too early to get credit for it. I looked around. I saw a planter in the median that was planted with palm trees. I took a good look at that first palm tree. Should I...should I....?

But before I could do anything more, I woke up.

      Dream 9:

I was sad to have awakened so quickly from the LD I had just barely started so I willed myself back to the dream. The next thing I knew I was back at that intersection and very lucid. It was now dusk. I looked back down at the palm tree and decided not to do that Task. I decided instead that I wanted to make a Star Wars Character appear. I decided I would be happy with either Luke or Anakin. I hoped that they would have their light sabers with them.

But I woke up again before anyone showed up.

    5. Baby Raccoons and the End of the World

      by , 12-05-2011 at 04:45 PM
      Today's dream:

I was at Marie's old house. I was talking to a little girl. She showed me a raccoon that they had found. I went to get my camera, but before I could get a picture she had let the raccoon go. I was disappointed. But then I saw that the raccoon was still on the porch. In fact, I saw that the raccoon had babies. They were falling out of a crack in the wall.

I think there was a problem so I picked them up and put them in my purse. I then saw that I had my pet mouse in my purse too. I was a little nervous. I didn't want it to get out and lost.

[There is a big gap in the dream that I don't remember.]

I was then with Jeff on a small boat coming into Los Angeles. There had been a big flood. We heard on the news that people had been calling this the "end of the world." At first I thought they were overreacting. Then I looked and realized just how bad it was. The water went all the way up to the downtown area. The large buildings were all abandoned and some were leaning or floating in the water. Los Angeles was almost entirely destroyed. Of course this was "end of the world" stuff!

At some point I got off the boat I was on and swam into a building. I saw a guy there taking care of an animal. I went closer. "Is that a ferret? " I asked. "Yes", and he told me how he had been taking care of it since it was the only living thing left that he knew of. I then pulled my purse out and told him that I had raccoons. But I wasn't sure how they had done because I had been in the water and I hadn't checked on them for so long. As we talked our voices had an odd surreal quality to them. I wondered if this was how all survivors of the "end of the world" sounded.
    6. LD: Flying Kayak/Car

      Lucid Dream

I actually don't even remember how this dream started because it was sandwiched in between two non-lucids.

It started like I was watching a movie. There were all these flying robots that were flying over LA to do something. I was seeing them as if I was flying through the air with them.

For some reason I became lucid (probably the flying). I was sitting in this small flying car that was a bit like a kayak because I was out on top holding on to the sides using that to steer.

I spent pretty much the whole dream just flying around in this little car enjoying the ride. At one point I thought, "Now what were next month's tasks?" Then I remembered it was not next month, and I shouldn't worry about trying those just yet.

I tried to focus on details as I was flying. I could feel the wind through my hair and hear the wind in my ears. Very very real. My mind did a great job of making the wind stronger and louder as I turned and swooped.

Then I saw Disneyland in the distance. I wanted to fly there. I headed toward it. Right as I was getting close to the Matterhorn, I could feel myself start to wake up.

Now this is what I found most interesting in this dream. I felt myself wake up. I was even seeing what I thought was my real life (FA) but I was able to pull myself back to the dream, and focus back on the feeling of the wind and of Disneyland in front of me.

      This happened several times

until I finally got to the point where I thought I was fully awake and not able to go back to the dream. Unfortunately it was another False Awakening. But I was so intent at this point to run to the computer to write it down. I was surprised to find that my computer had been taken down (but not so surprised as to become lucid again.) and for the next few minutes of dream I was just trying to find a way to write the LD down. Because that happened, I don't feel I have the details on this LD as well as some of my other lucid dreams from the past.

In fact, I remember thinking that in the dream I was hearing music playing. But I couldn't tell you now what it was But maybe it will come to me.

      BUt anyway--another Lucid Dream!!

      Edit:

I need to write up the conditions leading up to this LD. This was a sleep in morning. I had awaken at my normal time of 6:00. I knew I didn't have to get up yet. I got up and went to the bathroom and got a drink...and on a whim took half of a B-6 vitamin (50 mg). I was kind of cold. I crawled back into my bed and got under my wonderful micro-fleece blanket and my also wonderful big down comforter. It was so wonderfully cozy that I was able to drift back into dreamland.

    7. 9th Lucid Dream

      by , 04-17-2011 at 12:03 AM
      8-3-06

I think what I said in yesterday's post is true. After writing in my journal and getting lucid dreaming back on my mind, I had a lucid dream. Plus my night was full of many other dreams that I remember quite well. This was my best night of dream recall in a couple of weeks--about the time I went away and stopped writing in this journal.

      My Lucid Dream

It started with me being in a room that I didn't recognize. Suddenly Jeff walks in with a kitten.

[Note: This is the same kitten I saw in real life two days ago. This was an odd thing, so I'll share it. I was walking in to Safeway and right inside the door was a little Native American boy 4 or 5 years old with a kittten. He was sitting on the floor and swinging this kitten around quite roughly by its front paws. I stopped in alarm and was about to say something. But I didn't have to because I had walked in the door at the same time as a German couple. They saw the same thing and started scolding the boy in German. Even though he wouldn't have understood the words, like me he knew they didn't approve of what he was doing. He stopped swinging the cat and held it to his chest. The German couple and I then slowly walked further into the store, wondering what this boy was doing without parents in a big store with a cat and no one seemed to care. It was really odd and I probably should have done a reality check. ]

Anyway, in the dream Jeff had this same kitten and it was quite injured. He had it wrapped in a bloody blanket. I took a closer look at the cat and saw that it was really cut up. Its abdomen was actually cut open and it looked like someone tried to stitch it up but did a very poor job because it was pulling back open. I realized that the cat couldn't possibly live. It was too hurt. I was about to tell Jeff what I thought when I looked back to where the kitten was and saw that it was suddenly a baby. A real baby. I was now quite alarmed. We had to get this baby to the emergency room now.

But then I suddenly stopped. I knew the baby had been a kitten a minute ago. How did it change? Could it be that I was in a dream. Yes! I was finally having a lucid dream again after I had not had one for a while. But I still felt this need to take the baby to the hospital. There it was in front of me looking so real and helpless. But I knew that if I was in a dream, then the baby didn't actually exist. So I pulled myself away and started to float. Yes, that was proof enough that the baby didn't need me. I floated higher, then suddenly felt myself slipping away. Dang it, I was about to lose my dream.

But I suddenly popped into a different place. I was now in my old house in Los Angeles where I grew up. I flew out the front door. I wanted to really enjoy this experience. I turned on my back and flew feet first, letting the wind blow between my toes. It felt so nice and relaxing, yet exilerating. I turned back so I was flying the normal way.

I looked around me the colors were so bright. I could see the details of the houses below. I saw the playground of my old elementary school as I flew over it. I saw some fog ahead I was going into it. I thought, "This would be a perfect opportunity for scenery change. I'll come out further across the United States so I can go somewhere I have never gone before".

Sure enough, when I came out I was somewhere I didn't recognize. There was a lake or bay. I could see a road below and I could see the cars driving along below. The flying in this dream was effortless. My arms were out in front, yet I didn't need then for steering. I felt the wind in my hair. I was going quite fast and high. This was the most realistic flying I remember ever doing in a dream, lucid or not.

But finally I realized I was losing the dream
and I woke up for real.
