      by , 01-31-2021 at 12:30 PM
      31st January 2021

      Fragment:

I am in the kitchen. It's a day like it has been lately, kind of cloudy, a sort of desaturated natural light. Out of the kitchen's window it's not like how it should be, it's more like there's a driveway and there's a big van parked there but still it doesn't block much of the view or light somehow. There's a similar van parked over at next door's too.

I open the cupboard where we keep the glasses? I grab and take out one of the blue ones, put my upper lips over the edge and sort of feel it melt a bit; the glass still feels rigid like glass but as I start biting into the top rim, it's a soft chew and there's something pleasurable about it. I get erotic thoughts somewhat unrelated to the glass itself but related to the sensations and M/M themes.

      Fragment:

I'm with someone, perhaps T? We're riding on the back of a winged creature, flying high in a somewhat mountainous area. There's an MMO feel to things but it feels distinctly real too. I see us in third-person for the most part.

Using a long gun-cannon thing, I am shooting at a somewhat generic 50ft reptilian below past some ridges and canyons; he is otherwise engaged in combat with other humans down there, in a semi-flat area. The shots I fire are highly explosive and I aim for vulnerable parts of the head, trying to "break" them, like if this was the game Monster Hunter.

As I was about to break a part of the rear of the head, someone else does and I don't get credit it for it, and become annoyed. This happens once more on another part of the creature's head. I then aim for the eye instead and get credit this time, but at this point there's little left of the head apart from the lower jaw. He still lives somehow and is still in combat with the humans.

      (gap)

I'm going through a mine-shaft like tunnel on the side of a ravine, parts of it are enclosed by rock, others are open to the outside. I am trying to go to a place that will let me head down, to an area like where the creature was.

      Fragment:

Something about WoW. I'm in a large city and I have some kind of Honour points I can spend. The place reminds me of a mix of Dalaran, Exodar and Shattrath and it is flying in the sky as Dalaran would be. I come to a central hall of sorts, there are energy bridges and energy surfaces that I can walk on. I approach an NPC and see what PvP equipment I could buy with what little honour I have.

      Fragment:

Something about being in Brazil or some other South American country. There's a distinct feel of advanced technology throughout the dream. High-tech structures and such like, though I don't remember seeing much of it. I am or was at some sort of resort or house away from everything, in a hilly and mountainous area overlooking a large river.

I remember little of my own presence in the dream. The dream plot focuses on a serpentine creature, it is red and its scales are small relative to its size. It has been dormant for untold years and it wants to ruin all of the technology that has been brought about. The dream implies that it's not the first time this has happened and that it's part of a recurring cycle.

The creature's size is comparable to the mountains in the area. I remember it could communicate telepathically or something.

      Notes:
      - The order is not chronological, the first fragment was the last I had this morning.
      - One of my right hand fingers is particularly sore because of an injury and I was unable to write any initial notes for any of these fragments because of it, bits of recall just remained and came back as I wrote.
      - The fragment in the kitchen is reminiscent of how I come to certain creative ideas sometimes, often through some physical sensations.
      - The day in the kitchen was remarkably like what it was like when I actually went in the kitchen for the first time today, though I think it looked less messy in the dream, more normal.
      - The red end-bringing serpent and the cycle seem to be a somewhat obvious but less literal Ourobouran reference.

Some more snippets. Lots of snakes this month.

I mean to go and visit a friend, but the route to his house is blocked by a swamp of crocodiles. I am with some people who become quite alarmed when they realise that there are snakes right nearby. I am not frightened, and neither is my cat. The snakes are not scared of us. The larger one is a slate-grey colour with dull yellow rosettes along its left flank and steel-blue rosettes along its right. It coils around in front of us to show that it is comfortable in our presence. The second snake is much smaller. Its scales were a rusty red-brown and it had a rattle on the end of its tail.

      --- --- --- --- ---

Earlier in the dream, I had used my phone to take a photo of someone I had seen. I would do this occasionally in dreams, and even though obviously the camera was fairly useless, it would help to mark a moment to focus my recall on when I awoke. I was walking around in front of the state library in this dream and came across an array of items that looked like they had been abandoned by someone who had come this way before me. There are clothes on the ground, along with an ice-cream tub with only one scoop left. In the tub there is a photo of the tub itself. I shake my head and continue on.

      --- --- --- --- ---

We're running a con or playing a game, I am not sure which. My friend is trying to impersonate a man he's never met. He's wearing a bright magenta suit. I don't think he's going to be able to pull it off, but I'm keen to watch anyway. Mid-way through our gambit, a person rushes over to us.
"Wraith! He's an astral wraith!" the person cries. I walk over excitedly.
"Really? You're an astral wraith?" I don't know what it means, but I'm intrigued. He looks over, an unimpressed expression crossing his face.
"No, no. You just misheard." He says to me. The dream fades.

      --- --- --- --- ---

I am in my parents' front garden. There is a small green snake here, warming itself in the sun. The visuals are very clear and distinct. Blisters have broken out on its skin and smoke is rising from the wounds. It seems to be doing this intentionally, the warmth of the sun purging the toxins from its body. I reach for my camera, but am suddenly teleported high above the Earth and the scene is lost.

      --- --- --- --- ---

My friend and I are battling a huge zombie. We all leap through the air towards each other, my friend firing an assault rifle while I swing wildly at the zombie's head with a blackjack. It is taking damage, but not nearly enough. It lunges towards me, coming closer than I would like.
'I'll stab it in the eye,' I think to myself. Everyone stops mid-air.
"Woah, dude," my friend says, taken aback.
"Yeah, that's a little bit excessive," says the zombie. "Calm down."
I look around at them, uncertain myself. The GM steps in.
"You've already decided upon your action. Roll damage."

      --- --- --- --- ---

I dream I am with two of my real life friends, a couple I know. In the dream, they are bickering constantly. I take them outside and sit them down. I haven't done couples counselling before. I begin to talk to them about the issue, but they seem confused. They don't see it as a problem and am unsure why I do. I'm confused myself now, have I missed something?
The next day in the waking world I catch a tram with them both. They spend the entire tram ride bickering. One is trying to organise something to do together for the other's birthday, but the other is being very tense and resistant. I observe and say nothing.

      --- --- --- --- ---

"Your ears are full of wax," someone says. I am lying in my hammock, talking to someone over my right shoulder, but I cannot see them. The hammock is full of rocks and they are digging into my back.

      --- --- --- --- ---

An episode of hypnagogia. I'm lying in my hammock again and hear a voice from over my right shoulder. They are speaking to me.
      "An illusion," I state.
It's voice sounds like it is smiling. "Glad to know that's how I come across," is it's only reply.
"Who are you!?" I shout out with some desperation, but there is no response, and the episode fades away into sleep.

      --- --- --- --- ---

I could see my self clinging to a sinking boat, half-submerged in the ocean. The boat was not mine and it was full of explosives, and yet I clung to it still. A woman towered over the horizon. An explosion went off behind her, as though in the same room, yet I was very small in the world below. She glanced over to check on it. I was angry at her, but I didn't know why. I was plucked from the ocean and rescued. My friends rushed over, attempting to heal me, but I suspected that it had been the woman who was responsible for my safe recovery. I was indebted to her, but felt very conflicted, and didn't even understand why.

      --- --- --- --- ---

"I'm just going to pay for these in the next room," I tell the man, items scooped up in my arms.
"Sure," he shrugs, regarding me with absolute confusion. I'm always the craziest DC in my dreams.

    3. Rakshis and the Serpent

      by , 09-01-2015 at 11:00 AM
This dream was fun, and one of many that featured friendly serpents.

      --- --- --- --- ---

One of my friends was looking for information on Rakshis. I assumed that she was referring to Rakshasas from Hindu mythology, and I excitedly suggested that I may have a book about them in my library. She pointed to a book in front of us, and we flicked through the pages together. This book featured information about the Egyptian pantheon. We looked through for information on Horus, or 'Hortet' as he was called here, but found very little that was specific. I turned to look at the cover, and the title illustrated that the book was about the esoteric significance of sexual love or energy as it was expressed between different mythological figures. Interesting enough, but not what we needed. I did have a book that would be more useful to my friend, but it was not on this plane, so I shifted us both over.

We appeared in a vibrant, high-detailed world. We were in a a great, high-ceilinged, conical, brass structure. Grated metallic platforms lead over a bubbling stream which ran through the building. It was lush with vegetation and sun-kissed pond life. We were standing before the exit. Light poured in through the opening, and the stream flowed gently out and down the hillside beyond. Forested hills rolled away towards the horizon beyond. My friend knelt before the book and scanned through it. I recommended she find what she was looking for as soon as possible as we could not stay in this place long.

Already, I could see the spiky backs of crocodiles bobbing in the stream, waiting for their moment to emerge. I told her to run back through the building and leave, and she obeyed without question. I was now there with my friend the Sentinel in the form of a dark slate-grey serpent. The enemy was approaching now and we were in danger. I scooped up the snake and ran back across the platforms to the elevator in the centre of the conical building. It would return me to my own world. The elevator was quite open, ringed with ornate brass bars to keep the occupants from stepping off the side. I dashed inside and closed the gate behind me. I wanted to take the serpent with me, but after I released my grasp on him, he slipped through the bars of the door. I felt anxiety rising that he would be crushed by the mechanics of the elevator and that I would only be able to look on helplessly. Despite my fears, he was perfectly fine, slithering around the bars without difficulty.

The enemies approached as the elevator descended. I knew they were there, but I could not see them. As I slowly descended from view, I saw the serpent coiled and reared up, cobra hood open, defending my path from our pursuers.

I am in a church and it is night outside. The lights are out and the large building is lit by thousand of small white stick-candles. There is a long white table splitting the center of the room and many empty chairs around. The pews flank the table and there is a stage in the front with a podium and many stairs leading up to it. For a time there are other people within the church, all speaking to one another and a preacher preaches to the crowd. Soon afterwards I find myself all alone in the building and the candlelight dims. There is an odd breeze inside the building, and there are no doors or windows open and no ceiling fans.

Before me, along the walls of the church, and encompassing the entire sanctuary, slithered an enormous serpent. It resembled an unnaturally large Burmese python. It was brown with dark spots and longer than a tree. Its head could swallow my body whole ten times over and it had a rattle along the end of its tail. It hisses at me as it slithers forth and comes to the center of the sanctuary, making its way to slip over the table and snake across it towards me.

It tells me, in a voice I remember vividly, "I know you are afraid." My body was shaking and I was sweating. The serpent continues with, "I tell you, you will fail to spread the Word of God." I deny this and begin shouting at the serpent, angrily. Nevertheless its power increases and it stands up on its tail and continues to hiss and bare its fangs. It sprays venom on me, yet I am unaffected. I tell it to be gone, and it disobeys, saying, "You are worthless."

I give another shout and unsheathe a sword from thin air, miraculously, and threaten to strike. The sword was white and gleamed like fire. It illuminated the entire room and the candles had vanished. The snake dissipates like sand in water, bursting apart and becoming thin air. I am left to stand and wonder... what had it meant.

I was going to give you some back story on Saja and Liam, but it seemed incredibly stupid when I typed it out. I often become Saja and almost every time I have a lucid dream I go looking for Liam.
      Lucid
      Non-Lucid
      False Awakening
The layout of my house is huge. It also seems to share something of the more important houses I have lived
in. It is also, in part, Lowe's. I'm making my way down a wide hallway with cream-yellow walls and dark walnut trim and flooring. This part looks a little like my house in MA. I take a right at the end of the hall, the next one has a heavy dark walnut door with little lanterns on either side. I open the door and outside is the Lowe's parking lot. There are racks of flowers on either side, and then standing placidly between them is a team of horses hitched to a small wagon. It's a string of six. Well, I guess they're ponies. They are all paints, and only one of them is black and white, with black flecks all across his coat. I look at that one fondly. All the others are variations of chestnut and white.
I decide I want to ride one. I almost choose the last one in the train but he's tethered at the back of the others,
so I pass him by and walk to the less pretty first horse. This one is mostly chestnut and has very little white aside from a diamond marking and some white in his mane. The top of their heads are even with mine, making them fairly small.
I'm pleased by how small they are because I'm short, and I can climb onto his back without standing on something. I straddle the pony and grip his mane. He starts walking forward. The dream feels more vivid here, like before I was just on the edge of lucidity and now I've found it. I start experimenting with control, using my mind to change his path since I don't have any kind of reins. The parking lot is cold, there's some snow on the ground, and few cars. I lead the horse back toward the door and slide to the ground. I pat his neck. Something startles me, and I can't actually remember what. I run inside and slam the door, then take off down the hallway. Hoping that they didn't see me, and that if they did I'll be too far into the house for them to know where I've gone.

There's a lapse, I'm in the same building but this time it looks more like Lowe's. The aisle is also open
to the outdoors. A co-worker is talking to me. I stare at the wall behind him trying to figure out what's different about it. What's there that shouldn't be?
"....Did they put a bathroom here?" I ask, a little incredulous. This is one of my aisles after all.
"Why yes, it looks like they did." He says. I stare at the blue wall, which is just like the stalls in the bathroom. I can see the
      seams now.
"There's no handle on the door, must not be finished."
Somehow I know this is the Women's stall, and there's a Men's room a couple aisles over.
My co-worker wanders off outside and again I feel like I'm on the edge of lucidity, then pushing into it. It's a beautiful day out, and suddenly I wonder what the exterior of the building looks like. I run outside, feeling unnaturally fast. This section is actually a second floor, set higher than the main part of the building. The concrete is new and yellow-white. I run along, rushing past my co-worker who says something I can't remember. I fling the door open and run inside...

Another lapse and I'm in a hospital-like section. I'm here for tests? I think? I need to go to the bathroom
first. I walk down a long, wide hallway. It feels deserted. At the end is a bathroom. I can't figure out what's weird about it, despite the fact that there aren't stalls and there are just chairs by the sink. At first I think the chairs are toilets, until I sit down on one and realize it is, in fact, a chair. The cushion is yellow, wider at the front lip and more narrow by the back of the chair. I frown at it, I really need to go.
The room is kind of C or [ shaped. I go further inside, it's all white-pink tile with pale pink stalls. Finally!
The bottom of the stall panels are tall enough for me to duck under. I go into the first stall and am disgusted to see flecks of urine on the seat. I hear someone else come into the bathroom, and I'm suddenly embarrassed. Even as I'm doing it I wonder why. I duck under the wall and go into the next stall. And then into the next one. Which...puts me in a kind of mail room. It's dimly lit and there are bags as tall as my hips full of mail, with people rushing in and out. An old man with white hair is directing them.
"Trying to find the bathroom?" he asks.
      "Yeah.."
Behind him I notice the wall is the side of a stall. He gestures to it. I smile and duck underneath. It puts me on the far side of a
string of stalls. When I turn the corner I'm walking with a tallish black girl, wearing a green t-shirt, her hair is pulled back into a fluffy bun. I feel a moment of vertigo. I hear myself say that I'm Saja and that 'd been looking for her everywhere. What had I just been doing? Something odd happens here, my vision doubles and I'm standing a couple feet from the black girl and a slightly taller willowy woman with long brown hair. I've separated from the woman, like I'd just been inside her. I can see the back of my head, the wavy black hair. I've become Saja.

"Hey!" I call after them. The girl in the green didn't hear me, but the other woman tenses and when I call
after her again she glances at me, whip quick. Then pretends I don't exist.
"Hey, I KNOW you!" I say. She looks extremely uncomfortable and leaves as quickly as she can without breaking into a run.
The girl in the green looks startled, and suddenly I become real to her. The woman had been pretending to be me.
"Who are you? What just happened?"
      "I am Saja."
      "Do you know her?"
"Yeah..." I say something I can't remember. I look up at her. I'm little next to her, she's almost a head taller than me.
We walk out of the bathroom, next to it is a kind of study with a long table. It's dim and cozy, dark red walls, a banked fire, bookshelves lining the walls.
      "
Can you use magic?" She asks me curiously.
I smile a little, walking over the threshold behind the girl. "I am magic."
There are people gathered around the table. A male dc sitting across from us is trying to influence the dream by telling them all 'my' story.
"How do you know anything about her? Your family is broken, disgraceful. Thieves and murderers, all. Why, your father could
come in here right now and murder us all--slit our throats where we sit." I can feel the others start to believe him, but what's the benefit of being lucid if I can't change anything.
"That sure would be a trick, wouldn't it? Considering he's dead." The man is staring hard at me, and it takes me a minute to
realize that I'm lying. "I killed him myself, murdered the bastard in his sleep."
Another moment of vertigo, the man is smirking at me, like he wanted me to say all that. "No wait." I amend. "That isn't my story at all. You want to hear my story? All of it?" He rolls his eyes and leaves the table. The green t-shirt girl and a few others sit down. I remain standing.
"Have you ever heard of the Serpent?"
The all give me blank looks.
"Alright then, I'll tell you about It." I try to decide where to start. I try to tell them about Ru-em, the province I'm from in
the Midlands, and how our culture developed, how we learned to plant and harvest. Then I shake my head, trying to clear it. That's not where I want to start. "There is a creature, on the edge of existence. It moves from world to world, consuming all in its path." Someone rolls their eyes at me, bored. The girl in the green t-shirt is rapt.
"It's massive, as big as the sky." I can see it, the purple-black scar against a clear blue sky. How the world shook. "Ancient.
It crashed through our reality and into the earth, and down into the Spirit of our world. Which it would eat until nothing remained."
I move around the table, to a smaller one in the corner. The girl and a couple others follow me. I sit down and they take the seats across the table. There's a small spiral notebook.
"It wasn't really serpent-like." I pick up a pen and begin to draw. "More...like a--" I think a slug, but decide not to say that out
loud. "Like a whale and a manta-ray and--"
      "And a worm?"
      "Kind of like that, yes."
She stares down at my small drawing, the ridges by the tail fin. "It looks scary."
"It is." I pause, thinking that no one wants that horror to visit their door. I look down at the paper and decide I want to write
something down. I open a pen and write "Saja is magic."
It's clearly legible, actual words. The ink is a little thin, but I can't have everything.
I tug at the cap of a marker and worry for a second that this effort is going to wake me up. The dream wavers as I pull off the cap and settles again when I set marker tip to paper.
"Liam is alive." Instead of black, the words come out pale translucent green. The tip has split so the letters, while I know what they are, blur together.
I try to write it again, but the tip is still messed up. I stare at the notebook and smile. What am I doing here, playing these little games? I could be off looking for Liam. I leave the table and then the room, when I reach the hall I start to call out for him.
"Liam! Liiiiiaaaam? Are you here?" I call out several variations and my eyes are drawn to a window. For some reason the blinds
are on the outside. 1" aluminum blinds. I see blue eyes and then a smile through the slats. My heart pounds with excitement. It's never been so easy to find him! The man opens the window and I rush to meet him. I pull up short as he's trying to dip inside. It's not Liam. Not even close.
He's scrawny, medium-height, with gray-brown hair and sharp blue eyes. His teeth are crooked and yellow, he's dressed all in black. Skull-cap, jacket, jeans. All black. I frown at him.
      "Who are you? Where's Liam?"
      "What d'ya mean 'where's Liam', Liam's dead."
Panic grips me for a second but I refuse to believe him. "You're lying, he can't be dead. I would know."
"Wooould you?" He has an accent, faintly Scottish. "From all the way over here?"
      "I would."
"I don't know what to tell you, swee-heart. He's definitely dead. Been dead a long time."
"Stop saying that!" I yell, twisting my hand into a fist in his jacket. "He isn't dead!"
"Suit yerself. Don't say I didn't warn ye." He laughs at me, I hate how amused he is at my expense.

I'm in my bed. I can hear talking in the other room, thinking my boyfriend is watching something on his computer. I get up, decide to ask him if he wants something to eat. The voices get a little louder and I distinctly remember hearing them on the episode of Revenge I watched before laying down. I approach his door, which is cracked open. I wonder if he's watching Revenge, something he never watches. I go inside. His bed doesn't look right, it's all gold and red. There's a woman wearing blue striped shorts and a white tank top curled up along his legs near the foot of the bed.
What? I frown at the form huddled under the blankets. He turns restlessly and it's not my boyfriend at all.
"God damn it, I'm still dreaming." I say, surprised. The man blinks awake and startles into a sitting position.
"What are you doing in here?"
Before he can even finish the sentence I glance to the wall behind me. It has a wide window, I recognize it as one of the rooms from the building. I grin and run to it, open it and shove the screen out. I throw myself out and land in the hallway down below.

I land at the foot of a concrete staircase. At the top is a door with a sign above it saying who is broadcasting inside and has radio station numbers.

I can hear them through a speaker by the door. "Just like Jack and Ron except, me, obviously like Jack, doesn't have a problem clearing the saliva from my throat." It makes his voice sound less thick. A man comes outside and notices me listening, he tips his hat to me but my eyes kind of slide around him. He's tall, wearing a black ball cap a dark green t-shirt and black knee length shorts.
A tv screen on the wall at the top of the stairs flickers to life. It features a short blonde woman who looks vaguely like Amanda Bynes, wearing a bring pink uniform and hat, standing under a spotlight in a black room. She is trying to act out their radio show and is getting mixed reactions.

I frown, what am I doing? I was looking for Liam. I find I'm standing in front of the tv, I head back down the stairs. The hall there ends in a glass door with a metal bar across the middle. I push it open and rush outside, calling for him. The dream feels brittle, like it's about to fall apart. The walls are...papery. Thin. A man on a motorcycle rushes past me and stops. He flips up the visor and for a second he looks exactly like Liam. I rush to him and him to me. He pulls of the helmet. The closer he gets the less he looks like Liam. It takes me a second to realize it though.
      "Are you him?" I ask.
He looks puzzled. My heart sinks a little when I realize he's a stranger. "No, you're not, are you."
      He smiles apologetically.
Wouldn't he be here if he were alive? Maybe he really is dead. The man from earlier moves up beside me.
      "I told ya."
      "Stop it." I snap.
"Tried to warn ya." He says. The buildings to either side of me are beginning to break apart, like sand in the wind.
I realize I am close to waking and I try to focus to hold it together a little longer.I ignore him. Even from here I can see muddy black waves crash through a line of structures, tearing them to shreds and beginning to flood the parking lot from 3 sides. I stand and observe.
"What do you think will happen if I let it have me?" I ask, I feel a little hopeless and wrung out. What's the point of anything if
      Liam is dead?
      "Likely you'll die."
I stare at the water. It's consuming the building closest to me.
"Here, step on that." The man shuffles a large thin piece of blue foam board at me. "Fat lot of good it'll do you."
He then escapes back the way we came. The water lifts the foam board, it starts to float away under a black truck. I step onto the corner, and it rises with the water. Water takes the path behind me, it's too late to run now. The board won't last me long, there's no way it can stand up to the raging water. Cool air blows the hair back from my face. The board is swept from under me and I remain in the air. I flap my arms like a bird and rise above the water, deciding I'm not quite ready to die. People beside the front of the Lowe's/Hospital/House are pointing up at me in awe. The water is receding, leaking away from the parking lot. I see a small group beside what looks like a...firetruck shaped like a four wheeler. I direct myself toward it, the police officer there is tall and fair skinned. He has bright blue eyes and I can see a little red under his hat. He holds his hand out to receive me as I alight on the top of the ladder extending from the top of the four wheeler. He helps me down. The top of my head barely reaches his shoulder. He looks strikingly like Liam but I know it isn't him, this man is only an echo. He knows exactly who I am though.
"You look just like him, you know."
He takes it as a compliment and smiles a little. "Thank you."
The police officer/Liam Echo turns away from me and speaks to the small group of survivors.
"Let's head inside where they are waiting to treat any injuries." He touches the brim of his hat when he glances at me, and then
his eyes rest on a legless woman in a wheel-chair with an IV drip. He says it's a miracle she survived. Given her health problems, the quality of her existence, I wonder if it might not be kinder if she had died. I'm not mean enough to say it though. He leads them inside, there's an emergency room bay just over the threshold.
Beside the door is a table. I walk to it. I notice there's an egg sitting in the middle of it. I pick it up and it slips from my hand, cracking against the table. It makes a noise like breaking, like it's boiled, but when I shake it I can hear the yolk. I test it between my hands and cracks spider out from the palms of my hands.
Now I'm curious. I throw it at the ground and the shell breaks away, but the yolk remains egg-shaped. Tough but still obviously a liquid. I begin to laugh, the revelation hitting me like a stone. I'm extremely delighted.
Of course, this is the message my subconscious wanted to send. Though the egg looked fragile, it could never actually have been broken.
I pick up the yolk, thinking to show the police officer. He seemed like he would enjoy a neat epiphany like this.
"Hey! Check this out!" He turns to face me and I throw the yolk. He isn't expecting it so he misses entirely and it breaks in
the most awkward spot. The crotch of his pants.
"Oh...I am so sorry! I just....wanted...to show you the egg!" I start laughing again, he looks a little amused and bewildered
and embarrassed. I leave, my last view of him is him trying to brush away the yolk. I decide it's time to wake up.

    6. The Ordeal- A vampire feud.

I wanted to share this dream from last night, this is what I wrote in my journal at about 6am this morning:

      The Ordeal

2 French Vampires, very similar in looks come to live in a big white house with a host of other characters, several working people. One man enjoys playing games- he is a hunter, but enjoys all sorts of games from pinball to card games etc.

The Game-Man steals weapons that are hidden in the house, straight-razors and flint-lock pistols. The Game-Man is bound to the house by work & duty. The Vampires are bound by something else- their cursed nature.

As guests of the house the Vampires are somehow captured within it. If they reveal themselves and their true nature, they could be in danger, so they keep their vampiric nature secret.

Both Vampires have white hair and white skin though one is somehow 'darker'. The darker vampire finds the Game-Man's hidden weapons and uses them to kill the Game-Man. This strengthens the vampire and somehow gives him more freedom. At the same time, it transgresses a law- the hospitality of the house.

As a result of this transgression, a rivalry begins between the two vampires. The 'light' vampire is constrained by his obedience to the hospitality of the house, leaving the darker brother more powerful. The two attempt to kill each other quietly, without raising suspicion amongst the other members of the household, but their attempts to kill each other are futile- they are immortal and cannot die by straight-razor cuts. They cut each others' throats, but it is pointless since neither of them breathe.

As other members are gradually drawn into this feud, the entire house becomes tied up in a bloody conflict of futile betrayal.

Finally, the darker brother is able to escape the house- I'm not sure if it is because he has become more powerful, or because he is so despised that he is forced to leave. He leaves the house in the middle of the day, it is sunny, but it is raining. He flees across a courtyard toward a cathedral, discarding his black dustcoat in the meantime and feeling the sun on his skin. He is purified by the sun/rain.

He enters the cathedral to find all the members of the house waiting to meet him. There is an uneasy truce between the vampires.

We realise that this is all a film- there are light stands and bounce boards surrounding the 'cast' and a behind-the-scenes discussion begins amongst them. In the course of this discussion, we find out that in the beginning of the story, the dark vampire had been 'in love' with a sea serpent, and the film is called The Ordeal.

      Then I woke up.

      'bout goddamn time...

      Two fragmentary parts here;

One was that we were some sort of either guerilla organization or holidaygoers. You couldn't buy aspirin in the town, they filled it with artificial colouring. When we got back to our housebase, it had been turned into some sort of private school. I tried to get in, and there was a canteen, and the kids saw me; and then some teachers saw me, and this was bad because they were evil, and opposed to our cause. Also I was a sea serpent for some reason at this point

(WHICH AS AN ASIDE I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO DO WELL EVER SINCE I CAME HERE AND IT FINALLY POPS UP IN A NON-LUCID WHAT THE HELL)

and so I dived out the window when it became clear there was no other direction in which I could go, with lots of shattering glass and hiding in the shubbery on the side. There was a precarious drop down to the river and so I was hanging onto a branch, looking at the people searching on the lawn for a few minutes. I felt I must've been really obvious, but it was a while before they noticed me looking out of the bushes. When they did, I just let go and tumbled down a slope to the river. In the river, I realised - I didn't need to follow any cause. I was a sea serpent; I could just go eat fish and live happily.

But then in the river some people came to pick me up in a hovercar. I was unhappy but then they didn't actually take me, they took someone else who sort of looked like me. We'd exchanged some part of our souls in a complex dance; so I was now a sea serpent, and he could morph into a cat. So I could be fine here forever. :3

      ---

Lisa and Bart and an older Bart from the Simpsons were going to a water park. You had to do this water thing together, like step on one square on your side and the other person could get through. So the younger Bart was not very good at it, the older Bart just rushed through without any regard for Lisa, and I didn't see Lisa, it was sort of a third person camera view like in video games. But then she was crying afterward and the younger Bart came to console her while the older one just made offensive remarks.
