View Full Version : Is a LD an LD if you can't freakin' remember it! :-/

Around 4:00 am I had the first of 4 episodes of hypnagogic imagery (HI).

I always get so excited when HI first starts that I instantly feel my heart start to pound. I tried to calm my heart and not concentrate on the HI but it stopped and I fell asleep.

I woke up and the HI started again.. I tried once more to not focus on any particular image but it stopped.. again. :(

I fell asleep and woke up a THIRD time and the HI started again! Sooo here we go.. little blobs of color, images coming and going, yada yada yada and... we're fading out... :?

By now I'm really getting tired and I'm not sure I even have the strength to try for lucidity when the HI starts yet again! I lay there for a minute trying to figure out what to do when I decided to try a reality check and it failed!

Hot diggity I'm dreaming! :yumdumdoodledum: I roll over and stand up. I decide to go through the ceiling and I think "up". I float towards the ceiling and its covered in a bluegreen goo that's about 6 inches thick. I start clawing at the goo and finally think I've broken through but underneath the goo is the actual ceiling!

I start punching the ceiling and finally break a hole through it big enough for my body to fit through and think "up!"

I shoot up like a rocket and think "higher". I fly straight up and feel the wind whipping my face and hair and feel the drag on my clothes.

I recall thinking that this was going to be a good LD and that I want to remember this.... but NOOOOOO!

I woke up scanning my mind for a trace of something/anything that would bring some or all of my LD back but there was nothing there. I felt/feel so cheated!!

I recall only that it was a long LD but nothing past my getting out of the house!! I do unfortunately remember most of the long NON-lucid dream that I slid into directly after my lucid dream!

What good is a lucid dream if you can't remember it?!?! :hrm:

I guess I need to really stress to my subconscious that I must wake up after a lucid dream so that I will be able to recall it.

Has anyone else experienced the loss of a lucid dream? :morecrying:

Of course sweetie!! Man, you really have to relax. I know it can be exciting at first, but when you get yourself all worked up like that it's hard to have a substantial LD. First when you realize you are really lucid you might want to try something before taking flight, like....look at your hands and focus on them and say "increase lucidity" so that this will make you even more lucid and help you to remember the dream later. Also, I have too lost many lucids do to the fact that I don't remember them because I just go back to sleep or fall into a non-lucid. Practice makes perfect though. At least you remember the first part of your LD...progress!! ;)

Of course you're right Nina! The one thing that I've never done is to try to stabilize my lucid dream before I take any action.. I'm sure that would help tremendously!

Thanks so much! :)
