Lo everybody  .

Ok I've been reading around on the internet for a while about lucid dreaming and more recently WILD's, and had my first lucid dream about a month ago. At this stage I have picked up all the info about WILDing that I can find on the net and know im ready to start trying properly.

Today was my first attempt at trying and I got kinda confused. I used the breathing relaxation method as in Seeker's "The Five Phases of WILD" tutorial. I kept focused on breathing out for I'd say about 5-10 minutes until I felt relaxed, but during this I didnt experience any hypnogogic imagery or dream fragments. Anyway, then I started counting "1. I am Dreaming.......2. I am Dreaming......etc.". After somewhere between 30-50 my face started twitching and I started blinking fairly rapidly. None of the rest of my body was vibrating just my face.

I kept this up for a while I think I reached around the 90 mark but the twitching etc. started getting less intense. I thought to myself maybe I was in the dream and I just needed to open my eyes and do a reality check so I did. I opened my eyes and looked at my hands for about 10 seconds and I didnt see them melting :( , then I try to float upward just to make sure but nothing.

If anyone has any advice or pointers to give it would be greatly appreciated  .

Oh and thanks for for your time in reading this fairly lengthy post :P

I use the counting method myself. I find that like most LDing techniques, it's hit or miss but I've had some great WILD/OBE LD's using it. I usually add in a few MILD affirmations also so I might have a DILD if the WILD doesn't happen.

Usually, as soon as I start counting or shortly after, I start seeing HI, colors at first and then images, which increase in intensity to a climax or peak. At the climax, one of two things has happened... Either I know that I'm lucid and dreaming while I am lying in bed OR....I'm basically awake and have to start over. I know if I have become lucid because I always get an adrenaline rush when it happens. Great feeling!

I've used the HI to become lucid. The last time, I ruined a chance for a unique lucid dream because I panicked. I saw a rocket taking off in the imagery and all of a sudden, I was on the rocket, going up fast into space. I wish I had gone for the ride but instead I looked for ways to "eject"...I ended up spinning which took me to a false awakening and a new lucid dream.

In your WILD attempts, if you find yourself dreaming, lucid, and still in bed, you might be having an "OBE". You'll know when you try to get out of bed. I feel like I'm moving in slow motion. I usually give a quick look at my bed to see "myself" sleeping and then I leap through the bedroom window and fly off somewhere.

If you've only tried to WILD once, don't worry, just keep doing what you're doing. The more I learn about Lucid Dreaming, the more I realize that your frame of mind and mental attitude play a tremendous role.

Be positive and know it's going to happen and it will.

Yeah I know what you mean about the counting being hit or miss. I tried again a few more times and sometimes the HI came after counting for a small while but sometimes it just wouldnt come. I still dont know what the facial twitching thing is about though lol. Sounds kinda funny. :chuckle:

Thanks for the advice though :goodjob:
Il keep trying :okbyenow:

Hmm... you said that you were blinking a lot? well i thought when you do WILDs your supposed to keep your eyes closed..or was it like your eyes were closed but your eyes felt like they were blinking?

Well either way i'm not an expert on lucid dreams, but i'm pretty sure you close your eyes in a WILD..
