I used to play nintendo games at school during class. :) They even locked the computers so you could only use certain programs, but I found a way... I also had the school district admins password. I could edit transcripts and whatnot. I did change mine... then then changed it right back.

I used to do that! Some kid asked me to get up pictures of women...Then another kid screamed out "OMG! STEVEN'S LOOKING AT PICTURES OF NAKED WOMEN!". The IT teacher came running down the room to see if that was true, and I'm sat there whacking the keyboard screaming "ALT F4! ALT F4!"

I am one like you both.
School security is lax.
I'd say more, but sometimes I go to this site at school... And evidence would just be sitting here for ever, seeing how this is a forum.

School *SECURITY*? What's that?
I was in like...Year 7 (I'm in England, so I've no clue what grade or something that is...it's the start of high school, anyway), and I broke/hack/worked around the filter after 5 days of being there. Unfiltered websites for all. :P
Some kid logged onto the IT teachers account one day, with the password, and started posting all these messages over the network. And because every single computer was linked up to the network, every single person had things like:
"F*** U"
"PORNO @ www.fsjoifgjs.com"
"<teacher> is in love with <teacher>"

im a freshman *sighs* in highschool. but anyway, our schools do morning anouncements on the tv in the mornings, and in middleschool if you were a part of the "news crew" you had access to everyone's number password, the password to turn fullproof off(keeps you from messing with the computer, turning the sound up or down, looking at porn etc), and tons of other stuff. I knew people that went into other people's folders and deleted stuff and also, people changed the school's server to an elemantary school, and were looking at their younger brothers stuff!! computer security at school is a lot of bull*&^%. One more thing, at my school you can t search "Images" at google.com becuase it automatically thinks your looking for porn. It doesnt matter what word you put in either !!! lol

Hacking is easy, if somewhat illegal. I mean, it was by mere luck that the RM computers at my old school didn't start up the filters, and I ended up changing the time to 3 o' clock in the morning.

my bf used to hack into his friends computer and set it to where the screen saver would start every .001 seconds or something...so he had to keep the mouse going to do anything!

hey, all i was doing was telling how cheap(unfair) the computer security was at my old school, but you could still hack at my highschool, probably.

Memories of browsing through some personal folders of my middle school principal... Collections of angry documents to his ex-wife
More memories of browsing through my high school principal's folder and finding the police reports for me and my friends... And the logging of "The Site"...
36 hours of cracking a root password hash, 3DES.
I'm an exploratory kind of kid, not one to pull a massive Denial of Service attack against our router or anything like that...
Editing the cron-tab and implementing an Applescript to run on startup, or on X-date and time...
SSH'ing computers... Reverse tunneling, port forwarding, etc. Sending alerts and messages, taking screenshots, talking to the user...
Gradebooks folder's... Not like I would ever need it.
Terminal and the command-line interface, Java compilation, Applets, VB programming, trojan viruses, warnings from the administrators...

I used to get into the root drive that all the students hard drives spanned outwards from. I used to get into the teachers accounts and get the lists of everyones internet passwords, and invade other kids accounts and take the pictures they had of themselves on their drives and edit them.
The internet passwords were useful, because everyone had a certain amount of time to use on the internet then you had to pay for more (Cheap bastards) So when i ran out of time i could use other peoples time. I was never mean enough to use it all just bits from here and there so no one really noticed.
Someone ended up noticing something was going on, and they beefed up their security but i just kept getting around it. So by the time i left there you couldn't even right click anymore. They diabled the address bar in everything except internet explorer but you couldn't enter anything with a "http://" in front of it so you had to go to sites by just using "www." the file menu in almost everything was disabled too. It ended up being almost a pain in the ass. :? What they didn't realise was that the insert picture menu in word worked just as well as any explorer window, plus they weren't watching it for entries into C:/ or anything.
Fun Nazis....

One time, i downloaded a picture of the head principal in my old highschool, in the picture he had a goofy ass smile, and then i drew him with a huge black beard and mustache...right after 9/11...and then i gave it to him; he loved it.
