Forget the PSP--it's definately not worth the 250 price tag, and unless you like to play the same game everytime you turn it on, I suggest you try something else. Besides Lumines and the new GTA, there isn't going to much else in terms of a "killer app" for it. Try holding out for 3-4 months and purchasing an Xbox 360. I'm sure you will have the four hundred dollars by the time spring rolls around, in order to purchase the Playstation 3. :)

K thanks! your right the PSP isint worth 250$ i will save up for the PS3 Thanks
yeah the psp is a nice item, but unless you want to use it for everything its designed for plus the mods and hacks that the hack team has figured out and designed (www.psp-hacks.com - great site) then i suggest going for a classic console.
I posted this way too late. *anti-flame gum*

I don't really like game consoles at all; never had one and never will. PC's do all of that...and they have super word processing abilites too! YAY!

Dont mind games. Consider all the food you can get for 300 dollars. You can stuff your stomach so many times! Think about that.... or candy... yeah candy definetly. Candy or food.... no candy.

I'm answering this topic for one reason, that's because it doesn't take too much thought.
You can find use out of either one you buy. But in my exp, a stay-at-home machine is much more worthy than a portable device. I'd rather have a PS2 than a PSP, desktop than laptop. Plus, they're more comfortable, and portability of a device defeats the purpose of getting out to take a break from technology. But i'm a hypocrite, really, since I am using a laptop and I own a GameBoy....
The Xbox 360 looks really awesome, at least, the trailers do. But I agree with Kaniaz on computer being the best console. controls are almost always better, and a lot more people are available to play with.

The controls are not always better; depending on the game, you might get screwed with the setup (example: Doom 3 for Xbox and PC, which can be compared for a while). And, mind you, ergonomics come into play very often with controllers versus keyboard and mouse.
There's always enough people to play with on Xbox Live, though I can't say the same for the Playstation Online service (and Gamecube doesn't have anything, really). With about 500,000 people (or more) on Live, this equates to about half--and maybe a little more--ofthe console online market. So while there's definately more people on PC, you can't deny that's there is a lack of persons.
The computer itself it not a console anyway--it's just that, a computer. And in many cases, it wins out because of things like free online service and the ability to point-and-shoot with a mouse (and there's an abundance [or over-abundance] of RTS games), but the consoles can hold there own. Besides, there's just nothing like sitting down on the couch a few feet from the screen for a change, instead of a few inches.
But I love all gaming equally :)
yes i agree with your points as well, yet the tied-down feeling of a console really sucks. Especially on a computer where the keyboard has limited movement and the mouse is limited to one plane... i think the perfect console would be.... *drumroll*
a handheld that has a huge-arse screen AND video output AND internet AND sound input (duh) AND reverse-compatibility AND customization.. (add to the list if you feel like it)
The non-video out was a big downer for sony in the psp... heck even the gameboy had video out (sold seperately, but better than nothing). Of course theres stuff like resolution and the 16:9 weidscreen thing, which both cancel out each other. bleh

Well, I forgot to list the drawbacks of a computer.
If you're getting a whole new computer for the sake of good gaming, then it's a big use of money, usually a waste.
Consoles are cheaper in general, and for on the go gamer, more financically efficient (unless you got peeps who have pirated copies of every game for both console and PC)
I still stick with that the games on portables are usually not as good as "non-portable" systems, unless they are exclusively for that portable system (...GO POKEMON!!!)
Sorry to say I have little exp with Xbox Live except a few Halo tournaments at a friend's house. I guess I found CS on PC a lot more fun, but that's my opinion.
