Sorry for the down time the past week. Something caused the server to reboot and in the process Apache crashed, leaving port 80 open. In such a case it will not reload because it thinks the port is already in use; I searched the Internet and the only help I received was to try restarting the machine. Unfortunately, I didn't have access to do that, and iPowerWeb of course refused to help, because that's just not their style. The last time we had trouble, we were down for 2 weeks because again they refused to help; eventually they realized they had installed our account into the wrong location, which was the root of our entire problem.
Anyway, I've finally had it with the name-calling and insult-slinging that iPowerWeb refers to as "customer service," and I've gone out and found us a new host! We are now hosted with PowerVPS, which came very highly recommended by lots of people. I'm paying over twice what I was before, so I'm hoping this works out. So far they've been ridiculously fast at responding to technical support issues, which is not at all something I'm used to given iPowerWeb's "support."
There are a few kinks in the forum that I have not yet been able to work out, so we may have a little bit of trouble until I get things worked out. Please let me know if anything is not working properly. For instance, for some reason the 8MB limit for PHP is no longer enough for the index page; I've had to increase it to 24MB to get it to stop saying "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 12 bytes) in /forum/db/mysql4.php on line 235," and that's just not right.
