I happen to be in the middle of one of those all-nighters, and I was thinking about wilding. Here's my thinking:
If one doesn't sleep for 24-36 hours or so, they create a massive amount of sleep deprivation that will ultimately make the brain anxious to get into REM sleep to make up for the lost time.
In theory then when one goes to bed they should be able to reach dreaming sleep fairly quickly, but will be too exhausted to maintain the necessary concentration for lucidity UNLESS they have a Rock Star or two, let's say, to boost his mental alertness.
It could be tricky to avoid either being too hopped up to sleep or going into a massive sleep attack, but is it a conceivable theory??

this has already been discussed try searching i think it was
New Teqnique might die
or something like that
I must say I've attempted to do something similar a year ago. Pretty much I couldnt sleep one night, I decided to stay up the second night. All together I think I was awake for like 75 hours straight. I was extremely cranky and started experiencing bodily hallucinations, like something was shifting/waving inside of me :D Well, then I hit the bed and blacked out for the couple hours. No WILD or anything. after 2 hours I woke up and couldnt drift off for quite a long time... Again, no WILD.
Overall, it's a very unpleasant experience, I was very cranky uncomfortable all that time

Sure, you might slip right into REM after all that time, but just try to stay conscious enough to wild. Fat chance!
and most likely your brain would keep you out of rem sleep because your actually using like the same amount of processing power in rem as in waking life, it would stay in that stage where absolutely nothing is happening so as to rest as much as it could, or you would go so absolutely deep that you would never even remember your dreams
or you would just start to hallucinate and hallucinate yourself through a wild into a lucid dream duno

Why bother when you could sleep a few hours then wake up, and have such a high success rate. That cant be good to consume caffiene when deprived sleep. That can take a toll on ones body. It seems a lot of people think thier body is thier own personal lab rat. But its your body I guess.

You're right, it is :D
However, I stumbled upon an interesting phenomenon (sp?) in Psych class. It's called REM Rebound, which I am sure has been discussed also. Considering that the above idea sounds like it sucks and would just cause my body to get pissed off and if I was extremely active during my waking hours it would take it's sweet time in Stages 3 and 4. However, the NEXT night it may compensate me with like 5 hours of REM sleep. Plenty of time to see a dream sign I think.
I know, I am an idiot, but I am young and can get away with torturing my body.
