The media sux, today they did a story about how cats may no longer need to use the kitty litter, as there is a new product out that allows owners to put on top of the toliet. There was a picture of a cat sitting on the toliet. I did not consider it informing me about world affairs, I consider they were insulting all of us, by half advertising half serious, actully considered this world news.

The final image was a paw reaching out and flushing the toliet, will the comment. "he might even learn to flush.

Following the story was a bar that that was made completely out of ice. And how you might want to put on your gloves.....

The new reporter interegating the poor guy at the bay saying. Australian ice not good enough? His made the excuse there is a water shortage we try to do out bit and order it from canada.

ofcourse I don't consider either storys newsworthy.

Finally, they had a bunch of people dressed up in police costumes, playing christmas songs in a band. sitting behind the wether reporter. (tim bailey and the emergency services band) The other reporter even asked what the police are doing, and he said they are not police. and that he was spoiling his show.

The wether reporter commented on the wether while the police band sat behind him now and then playing sound effects. to varies things he did.

He also made several mistakes. And yelled out I made a mistake. and they even played a sound effect for this twice....

It was funny but I am also concerned for australia........

not even going to mention channel 7

Channel 10's "news" really is abysmal. Even the timeslot ("first at five") gives it away - most people with normal jobs aren't home at five, leaving a key demographic of unemployed people. I can't even imagine the bizarre world view of people who use this tripe as their primary source of news. Still, pointless trash is better than some of the alternatives - e.g. Fox News, the propaganda channel.

I think you can tell a lot about a person by which channel's news they usually watch.

Agreed.

I would hesitate to tell anything about a person who watches any kind of mainstream news though, as its all pretty sad and we don't have that much of a choice. But yeah fox news is one of the worst. I watch the news and read the newspaper sometimes just to see how they approach it, and realize they are not reporting things properly.

I feel bad for those in the media industry who are honestly trying to do something, as its pretty ruthless industry, and difficult to survive if your doing the actual job description of a journalist. Generally in this industry there is no values whatsoever, regarding how they go about coverage. It's just get the money and where done. The good guys are left behind.

You know they are just trying to find the most interesting or entertaining thing, as long as it grabs peoples attention thats all they care about. Unfortunately what grabs peoples attention is mostly what is not of the main concern to us.

Well, I guess we could be glad that at least they're not all "Everything's diseased and blowing up today!" like some times. :P

I quit watching the "news" for 3 months. I turned it on and the samething as 3 months ago just different spin. In Iraq blah blah blah, Concern In Iraq, Trial In Iraq. Congressman indicted. 30 Killed guess where? In Iraq. To other news. Oil companies post record profit. blah blah.

I would rather watch the cat on a toilet story to be honest.
