Alright listen up,

Lately I'm just getting sick of people hurting eachother, arguing out stupid stuff that should eve be argued over, people getting agitated, people calling eachother god knows what, people showing intolerance and disrespect for eachother and so on.

There is enough of that in the world, don't bring it to this forum damnit.

I'm really getting sick of it, so many stupid bullshit lately, and to be honest the forum used to be alot nicer. I, and Im sure everybody here wants to have that old, respecting, accepting, nice, tolerant forum the way it was back. I used to think damn this is nice forum, never saw such a community. But over time this idea is fading away, and Im not saying I am a saint but everybody needs to work TOGETHER to make this a better and nice place, to put up to its reputation of nicest forum in town!

Not just me, not just you, not just the christians or the alternative religions EVERYBODY

I was feeling this way for a little while but I gues what Lost Soul was feeling(caused by this forum) was just the last drop. Look at it now, she no longer feels welcome here, I dont blaim any person or group but for gods sakes lets not forget about the damn rule..the rule that once so important.

Maybe its just, but if this forum no, Im sorry ice, its not the forum of course, its us, if WE go any further down the hill I am going to leave aswell.

PLEASE ANY COMMENTS ARE WELCOME AND ALSO SUGGESTIONS, AND PERHAPS PUNISHMENT FOR THOSE WHO DISOBEY THE RULES OR DISRESPECT OTHERS, NO MORE WARNING, THERE IS ENOUGH NEGATIVITY IN THE WORLD, PLEASE!

(Oh Willie sweetie Im sorry I used your name now..but out of all peopel you are the last one I wanna see hurt or feeling unwelcome)

I REQUEST THAT THIS TOPIC SHALL BE MADE STICKY(ICE,SERI,SEEKER)

i wholly agree! If LS left, i think i might too...i, too, came to this forum and stayed as long as i have cause it was just such a nice warm welcoming haven...but as of late i've regulated myself to the Senseless Banter portion of the forum cause of exactly this (among other things)...lets put an end to it

Yep, Im a noob to this forum, but by the welcoming I got, I know I probably will never leave, I love listening to your all of your opinions, especially because you accept my opinion as well, Lost Soul felt strongly for a subject, we should have let her have that, because we all eel strongly about SOMEthing. If everyone else is ganging up on your opinion, you feel lost, and rejected. I vow right now not to tell someones opinion is wrong, and not to gang up on anyone in this forum... I don't know whos with me here, but thats my contribution so far. I extend my apologies to Lost Soul.

Also, thanks for accepting Me in the forums, it IS the internet, but it does make you feel good...

I've felt this way for quite a while and b/c of that, I'm not posting as much any more. I also thought about putting a post on and talking about how I'd be a life time member here. Something has happened. I've seen it during my time here. When I first came, I was just blown away at how great this place was. I'm still blown away, but in the other direction. I try to watch what I say and how I say it, but I'm only one person. I do my best and hopefully everyone else will too.

This all makes me very sad...
I've always loved this place...and though I don't contribute as much as others, I have been here awhile, and always planned on staying a regular. Maybe I'm masking myself too much...but I only seem to have time for the passionate topics I want to be a part of - it's difficult for me to just hang out here and chat. But I like everyone to feel close, like they can come talk to me without reservation...
I've always said I enjoy smaller communities better, and maybe it's unfair of me to make this connection, but as soon as this board's popularity began to explode...I just knew something was going to go downhill. Granted, only a fraction of new members become regulars...but, all-too-often this is exactly what happens when communities get a little saturated with conflicting people. I'm not blaming anyone or anything in particular...it's no one's fault and I know there's not a lot that can be done to alleviate this...but we can all start by vowing to abide by some curteous conduct.
I have yet to come across what set Lost Soul off...and that's part of what I'm talking about. So many post so rampantly that certain posts are lost in the midst of fervid "opinionism." It's this hyperactivity that has almost isolated me as a n00b because I don't take as much time to visit as some. I know I sound like a complaining piece of s***, but I miss the days when I could casually stroll through all the boards and never miss a thread...I've lost the sense of feeling like a part of this community. Anymore it seems as though my posts only exist for my personal satisfaction, and nothing else.
I think we should all make sure we respect and acknowledge one another, rather than just waiting for our turn to talk.

WerBurN
03-04-2004, 12:54 PM
so maybe we should come up with some guidelines...like what we need to all stop doing...cause while this thread is great, it deosnt give a clear cut set of things that are causing this degredation...

will.i.am

Echo, you're NOT a complaining piece of shit and your posts are NOT just for personal satisfaction. I learned from by psychology of esteem class to not say, "I know how you feel", because it makes the other person seem less important. I truely don't know how you feel but I can try to understand your point of view through these types of discussions. I agree with your statement on community and size. I too like a small community, its much easier to be in. But it truely hurts ME to hear you say that you don't feel welcome in this community. Whether or not I'm to blame for this, I still apologize. As a group we need to take resonsiblity for eachothers actions whether or not they are correct and even if they go against your beliefs. There are things said on here that I don't agree with, but I'm still here to listen. It doesn't matter what side we are on, we need to still back eachother up. I try to live my life like this. I do fail from time to time, but I give you my best. I'm not perfect in anyway. I really wish I was the official newbie welcomer, just so I would be able to set the mood. I'm not saying that the welcomer right now is doing anything wrong, its just that I'd like the job. If there is anyone out there who needs some one to talk to, I'm here for you. I'm here for all of you, and my hope is, you're all here for me too.

Love ya guys!

Very true, Lucius, there have been people with different opinions.
I'm fairly new too, I lurked around these boards for about a week before I signed up, I've read most of the old threads and stuff, and there has been a change. There's a tad more senseless banter, and recently alot of discussion which some people took very seriously.

I dont know really what to do to counter this, making several types of discussion forbidden would be like cutting the rotten flesh away but ignoring the disease.

I remember a thread about religion that I saw when I first came to this forum. Everyone there really tried not to offend anyone and apologiced if they wrote something, anything, that could be interpreted as offensive. I have checked a few of the "new" threads about religion and I don't think they're at all the same. So what happened? I don't know. What shall we do about it? Not sure about that either, but a start might be if we all tried to remember that there are real people behind the usernames and actually thought about what we write, and how others will take it, before we post it. And lastly, just remember the golden rule.
I really don't want this forum to be like so many others.

You guys are right, I love this forum because it is a small confortable community, and the people here seem to be really smart or wise. We have our senseless banter and all, but most of what we post has some sort of purpose and is not just complete and utter shit like in other forums. Plus, people are also very friendly and care about the other people in here. I really love this community, and would hate to see it spoiled....

Well first I want to thank will for that very nice post...I really appreciate it - thanks so much! Basically, my grief isn't neccessarily that I don't feel welcome...I think it's just my disappointment that I'm not very able to invest the time I would like to. Before, it was enough time to hang out and be one of the hive...but I haven't been able to adjust for the growing size of this community and suddenly my time doesn't go very far.

It's interesting what Stalker said, too. I anxiously took part in that first religious discussion, and like Stalker said, it was a nice debate. But I've made a conscious effort to not set foot in any of these discussions as of late that have been upsetting a select few... not that I'm the epitome of what we should all be doing, but I could see where some of those topics were heading; and I'm only saying that these problems are affecting even me - someone who doesn't visit as often as some and also hasn't even been a part of the most upsetting discussions.

It's too bad we're having this problem - there once was a time when all icedawg (or ANYONE) would need to say is our 'golden rule' - "be excellent to one another!" I'd hate to think we need more than Bill and Ted to remind ourselves to not be like all the other dead-sleepers in this world that take for granted everything good in this world.

OH! and yea, I'm here for ya, will...I'm here for everyone! Everyone should feel like they can be here for everyone...and talk to one another unconditionally! :goodjob2:

I think we can all even change the question what can we all do to change, to what can "I" do to change. This forum is special, and the people are nicer than any other forum I've been to, seriously. This forum is a family. And I think some of us ( I'm guilty on a few accounts) need to realise it's not the quantity of the posts, its the quality..

Although I don't fancy dirty insults (especially if you mean it), we can definitely start by re-assuring all of us not to take anything personally.

Really, if anybody is attacking another verbally, the logic is that they're attacking an idea, belief, behavior...etc. Nobody can really attack YOU, but an outward characteristic which prompted them to do it. We are all the same at the core.

I realized that when you get to the bottom of it, nobody can really hurt you verbally. If you wanna be ok, just don't attach your ego to your beliefs. So ya, don't take things seriously.[/i]

People are gonna argue and insult on an internet message forum. This place is nicer than most forums I have been on and I think that is because the users here have a personal connection to share; our experiences in lucid dreaming.

You can't take things personally and you shouldn't implement a gazillion rules to keep everyone in-line, people should be allowed to say what they want and if they want to make a bad impression of themselves by insulting and slander, so be it. Thats my 2 cents.

Sorry, I don't have much to contribute to this discussion, but I have heard a few mentions about a rival Lucid Dreaming messageboard which there have been some disputes with. Could someone please tell me what this board is? The reason I ask is not because I want to desert or anything, its just that I'd like to share and learn about lucid dreaming with even more people. :)

Of all the messageboards I've visited this is surely the friendliest by far. 8)

As far as improving the world goes, I think the best way to do that is to help others to understand that the only limitations to life are the ones people impose on themselves. We must eliminate all doubt and all fear, and must understand that our choices determine our fate. Those that surrender to the world and blame their circumstances for their problems, have CHOSEN to do so. So lets start taking some responsibility and live as if things we do actually mattered!

Also I think if everybody read about existentialism, it would improve the world. 8) :D

I spent 30 minutes browsing SeaLife the other week, and to be quite honest, its too weird for me!!!

Maybe I just don't understand it, or maybe I'm not an experienced enough lucid dreamer, but they have been trying to do things that I just don't believe are possible.

There's a project on SeaLife to create a 'meeting room' on the astral plane. As I said, weird! But cool if you believe in that stuff i suppose.
