What? How is this forum considered offensive? Who determines offensiveness? That's news to me--the last thing I want is anyone to be prevented from seeing the forum.

My schools system knows it is a forum so it blocks it. The message is generic no matter the reason.
Idea. Try getting here through another site such as replacing the http the first site uses to get you on another site with ads.
http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/frame...views.com/forum (http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/framed.htm?parent=&url=http://dreamviews.com/forum)
I can get around auto-blocking email with this.--------------------------^

The magic filter, which has some rather erratic behaviour. It has filtered Dreamviews out as being "offensive", for some inane reason, and has also filtered out (among other things):
* A news website
* Ebay
* Information about Kenyan Upesi Stoves
[nah, our filters too clever for that one. Catches the 'use another website' trick]
[although I'm too clever for the filter and can circumvent it with a DOS prompt which I shouldn't get to but got to anyway]

Last year I spilled coke all over my keyboard right after the computer teacher finished giving us a twenty minute long lecture about not bringing food or drink into the classroom. It was even funnier because I got away with it.

We have a quota at school. About 15MB only, or something. Although because our security really does suck, I got access to the network drive and changed my quota to 1GB. I don't use it all, obviously.

internet filtering is the first thing all good students need to know how to get around:
1. On The menu bar click Tools->Internet Options
2. Click the connections tab
3. Click the lan settings button
4. Check the Use proxy server for lan checkbox
5. Click advanced
6. In the http & secure textbox and port box try the following (If one of these dont work there are plenty of proxy lists on the net):
212.253.49.32 port 80 ( this one is working 4 me at the mo )
If that one doesnt work for you when you try another proxy make sure that is uses port 80 as most school firewalls will block the other ports.
If it still doesnt work after trying several then download mozilla firefox and try them in that.

My school isn't dumb, they've made sure you can't change any options in Internet Explorer (or any other program, for that matter), whatsoever. They've also got a very precise logging system that gets the username, time, computer used and various other things for anything that might be deemed remotely suspcious. Connecting with a proxy server would get logged here.
Although here's some other "hacks" (well, really they're just common sense), you can try if you still can't get round the filters.
Access DOS Prompt And C Drive
Win95/98:
Open Notepad and type "C:command" (without the quotes) into it. Copy it to the clipboard.
Open a shortcut. If you have RM filtering, it will close the shortcut box again within a few seconds. This is why you have to be quick- press Ctrl+V and then Enter before it closes.
Run the shortcut. You now have access to the C drive, and, if you're lucky, all the other drives in the network.
Wait. This wasn't a hack for a filter. Oh well.
Bypass Filter #1
This may or may not work depending on how good your school filter is.
1) Goto Altavista.
2) Use Translate.
3) Select "French> English"
4) Type in the web address box dreamviews.com
5) Translate it. It may or may not come up.
Bypass Filter #2
Use a HTTP tunnler. If they've filtered downloading you have a problem.
Bypass Filter #3 w/ CGI Proxy
Try this (http://proxy.drkangel.com/nph-index.cgi/000010A/http/www.web.freerk.com/c/)
And this (http://www.bigate.com:8080/cgi-bin/bigate/b/k/k/http@www.web.freerk.com/c/)
And This (http://pdsg.cslab.ece.ntua.gr/%7Epefstath/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi/000010A/http/www.web.freerk.com/c/)
And if those don't work, try these
This one (http://67.83.84.187:905/cgi-bin/proxy/nph-proxy.pl/000010A/687474702s7777772r7765622r66726565726o2r636s6q2s63 2s)

And if they don't work, use these
Like this (https://nhuanet.com/cgi-bin/nph-proxyb.cgi/000010A/http/www.web.freerk.com/c/)
And this (https://vip.megaproxy.com/go/_mp_framed?http://www.web.freerk.com/c/)

my school has the most locked down system ive ever seen, ne where.
heres the stuff we cant do:
1.no right click(unless through using internet browser)
2.no moving desktop icons
3.no deleting anything
4.super internet filtering(cant go to www.bolt.com(its a freakin chat site!))
5.no downloading
6.no changing properties of the desktop(ex. background color, wallpaper)
7.the entire c: drive is hidden, and you cannot access the View tab usually at top of menu to change this.
8.about the only freedom we do have is a drive known as the J:/ drive. everyone has access to everything in it, but u still cant delete or move anything.
9.if u just open the j:/ drive by clicking the link on desktop, you dont have access to any of the tabs at the top of the screen (File,Edit,View,Tools, etc.)
10.As if this wasnt enough, Everyone has to log in with their username which cannot be changed and everyone has a 6 digit number password. (Example: John Smith would log in as .smithJ.04(04 referring to that persons graduation year))
11. Also, any file that you create and/or modify will have your name saved on it, so if you create sumthin bad you will get busted.
I have so far seen only a few ways to get around half of this crap and most of it is from this security program called Fortres.
Earliear in the year, a bunch of people(me included) found out the backdoor password to Fortres, so the school computer security was in havok for like 2 weeks, till they updated it. Now it just sucks... :(

The easiest way to get around filters is babelfish. Just translate the website from Korean to English or something.
I did independent study just fixing all the damn computers in the school last year, so I know our whole setup. Some neat things about our school network are:
1: The admin (and I did for awhile) uses a backdoor just for the convenence (sp?). The username and pass was "ddddd". He said he would change it after I got done with the class, and he did. After he did, I went onto a Win2k machine, and then tried to add user rights in order to see the list of all the users. I saw a username called "ddd", and guess what...!
2: We have a program called "CleanSlate" on all of the machines that is a real piece of shit. It it supposed to reset everything back to what it was on the hard drive when you reset it. It usually does do this, but it hits a bug about twice a year. Something will go over wrong, and it will end up writing crap where it isn't supposed to go. Usualy when this happens, we would reimage the machine (I heart Ghost). But in one case, all that happened was a corrupt registry (sp?) that would never get fixed by cleanslate, so it would be dumb to take the machine all apart just for that. A simple edit of autoexec and no more cleanslate!
3: You can print on the rival high schools printers across windows networking, enough said.
4: Most of the HP Laser printers are like huge ass servers with a printer attached, and are left with default passwords when installed. If you are skilled enough with pjl, you can get the printer to store small games, chat programs, emulators, ect... You can also get the printers to print something on top of every other page printed with that printer. Combine with number three for some uber fun!
5: Like the printers, the switches and some routers are installed with the default passwords still in use. One time I had this computer graphics class with a kid I didn't like very much. On every computer he got on, I would switch that interface off for the computer. It was great.
6: Net Send.......
edit:
7: all the usernames are in the format of first inital, then last name, like, "ddrums". And then the passwords are in the format of first than last inital twice, then first four letters of our student ID numbers. Almost all of the student ID numbers begin with "117". And then the password is like "dddd117n", where n is any number 1 through 9. This makes cracking logins really easy. I'm just glad I'm one of the few where my ID doesn't start with "117". (For me, cracking them doesn't matter much. I still have access to the whole list of students and their student id's.)

Well, thought I would share some about my present and previous schools computer systems, but first: What idiot school uses win95/98?
Anyway, in my last school we used NT 4.0 for all the stationary computers and later XP for the portable ones. The security was pretty bad, we had a small 10MB folder on a server but since we always used the same computer and had full access to the harddrive we just stored everything there. 10MB isn't enough anyway when you start using autoCAD and 3DS Max but they didn't increase it until a few months before we left.
The only thing we couldn't do that we missed was share folders over the network, however we managed to get around this because once we were going to try out some math-stuff over the internet and that required flash, which in turn required admin rights so a teacher logged in to all the computers with his password and voila: we shared some folders when he didn't look. Of course, it didn't matter much because later I cracked the admin password. Oh, if any of you ever go to Vägga, try "ppmr97" as the administrators password, I bet they haven't changed it yet.
A friend of mine once made a nice little program, it was an exakt (visual) replica of format with the tiny difference that it didn't matter what you answered when it asked if you wanted to format the drive. It started anyway, but it only looked like it was formatting it. Some students were a little nervous when they showed the teacher what had happened when they started the computer.
And, finally, never forget what happens when a student by accident change the 230V/110V switch on the PSU. Boom!

Because I'm bored, this subject is getting brought back up.
Another hint:
1. Make a VBScript to create a shortcut. (Can't remember code off by heart, just Google it)
2. Install a webserver. (Use the VBScript to open it)
3. Install PHP on this system. (Again ^)
4. Start a little forum about the importance of accessing sites which you shouldn't.
If, like me, you are logged in a seperate file from the other 1500 people in the school, log on as guest or something. I know of an account called "test1" which uses a temp login script I made for the school's new system, I also know of "Parent" and "Guest". Try that.
This works better with faster machines.
Random sidenote: It was smart of me to use MegaProxy in front of the admin (doh)

Well, since this has come alive again, another little story from my old school.
I made a nice little program that ran hidden on startup on the teachers computer (and some others...) and if I connected to it and sent the correct string it would go fullscreen and show a skull pointing a finger. Let's just say the teacher seemed a little surprised when he saw it.

update on my schools security even though schools out for the summer(YEAHH!!!!!!!! lol)
before this update was proposed and already applied to a few of the schools computers, we were allowed to access our 10mb h drive by opening internet explorer and typing H:/  we could then right click on our drives, and even give anyone we wanted all rights to the drive except the ability to delete it or make a new one. anyway the schools bitch ass computer security guy Mr. Faulk decided that this was a threat to the computer security since the hard drive could be accesed the same way as the H:/ drive. (the contents of the entire C:/ drive were hidden, but you could still type C:/windows/ and get there, even though u couldnt delete stuff.. :()
Anyways the way they are changing this is that u can no longer type any sort of drive map letter (Ex. C:/ H:/ J:/) to get there. you now have to open up the shortcut for that drive from the desktop, making it almost impossible to even delete anything because of the already top-notch security on these computers(read previous post further up page).
THe only way we can delete things, is to open up that drive from notepad, which already has it so that we can only open up the H:/ and student J:/ (everyone has access to this) drives. Any thoughts on what to do for this??? i still gotta go through 2 years of school at Port Huron Northern HS and i dont wanna have to deal with this since it will be applied next school year. Hopefully i can find a way to get around it before school starts up again.

Woo. I love doing that. In fact, I think I'll be able to coax some dumb kid into changing all the switches in a classroom. Imagine the scenario:
IT Tech: Turn on your computers.
A loud \"BANG\" emits from 15 computers at once, frying the power supplies.
IT Tech: A- oh. Crap.[/b]
Our school has some real, very good security (we actually have an IT Adminstrator who knows what he is doing). However, the IT teacher dosen't have a clue, and he insisted on having admin rights. He left his computer logged on right next to me once. It was a matter of just pressing the huge "OFF" button on the program called "RM File Protector", and I could of easily wreacked havoc with a format //SERVER1 or whatever. (But I didn't, because I feel nice).
Although I am planning for an excellent "I left school" present. I'm seeing about making some kind of annoyingish viruslike program that, when I deploy it in the school server, sits dormant until the day I leave school. On the day I leave school, it comes alive and starts playing:
"BADGER BADGER BADGER BADGER BADGER BADGER BADGER BADGER BADGER BADGER BADGER BADGER MUSHROOM MUSHROOM!"
And dosen't go away. Not even with a restart, format or anything else. (With the format, it's simple. If it's formatted and cleanly installed, another infected computer just says hi and infects it again).
But I'm making precautions to keep it *within* the school network. Can't have that all over the globe accidentaly. (like the CIH author did. It accidentaly got loose. Kinda cool actually, accidentaly running the virus. Imagine it, pummeling your monitor trying to get it to come back).

one thing that's weird with my school filter (i'm on summer break now) is that near the end of the year, the word "berg" was being blocked. Any website that had the word "berg" on it was not accesible. Heh, this thread got me thinking of a 'virus' I made for the school computers one time. Every so often, a huge picture of David Hasselhoff wearing nothing but thongs would pop up, covering pretty much the entire screen. It would stay there for about 30 secs, and the process would start over again. It was so funny to watch people's reactions.

A very simple way around filters is simply to make a .TK domain name for a website. It's pretty easy to do. I made one for DV. Just go to Dreamviews.tk (http://dreamviews.tk) and it should bypass any stupid filters.

I think you're from ld4all? Your avatar is pretty much the same as another folks from over there... I'm probably wrong though.
EDIT: After hours of tedious research (ie: clicking the \"view all posts by author\" button), I found out you've been at the ld4all forum for a year. Welcome :P
It's always fun to watch people reactions when things don't work. There's a girl in my school, her name is Michelle (I've talked about her before), and she is, to be frank, stupid. She dosen't like computers a bit. Example:
Michelle: SIR! I do not understand this stupid computer!
Teacher types out alot of work for her, taking about 30 minutes.
Michelle somehow manages to delete it all and replace it with a picture of a cat.
Michelle: ARGH! SIR! This computer is NOT WORKING! *hits the monitor*
Monitor crashes and falls over.
Teacher: How much pocket money do you get? Because you need to pay for a new monitor.
Michelle: Don't worry! It's okay! *picks it up and hits it again, and it somehow clicks back into place*
[/b]
There was one time she set fire to her house with a bunch of sausages then left the windows closed (it's a hilarous story, actually), but that's not important.

Yeah it sure is. I remember one time these two eight grade girls were working on some important project on one of the computers. And WHAM! David Hasselhoff goes fullscreen (btw, this was a modified version where the picture would never go away again). They were really devastated, they had probably invested a lot of hard work into it and everyting. Oh well.. It was still hillarious.

Was the David Hasselhoff pic control-alt-delete proof? Otherwise they were just stupid...
By the way, don't feel creeped out/flattered that Kaniaz spent hours doing research on you...he just has too much free time and to little to do with it

Reminds me of my days at school - pissing off the computer teachers.
Typical obnoxious computer geek I guess
This was back in the days of DOS and Turbo Pascal.
I wrote a 'TRS' (Terminate and stay resident program) that simulated a network failure at any time within 30 minutes of the computer rebooting.
On every PC in the lab.
This prevented even a single lesson to go by without every PC in the room having to reboot.
I really disliked that teacher, as you can tell ;) :D

www.proxify.net (http://www.proxify.net) Gets around all my schools games, forums, and bad word filters, even if they personally block sites.
Take the fight to the school, my friend goes to a large public school and he was smarter than the stupid techs and he ended up costing the school 100k in new equipment, security software, and a couple weeks 'around the clock' (over exaggerated by school) work. And he got expelled then they decided he didn't do it and let him back in. In the words of the dean, " a strait shooter" even though he has 10 inch liberty spikes walks around with a briefcase with latin all over it and wears a long black wool coat (not exactly a trench coat goes to his knees)
wow I dunno where that post was going
