View Full Version : Is this normal for a RC?

I'm fairly new to LD, and since December I've had only a hand full of anything close to LDing. Typically this has been because I haven't had a full night's sleep in a while. Last night I was very determined to do it, and I had as much time as I needed.

So I heard that a good RC is to pinch your nose, and if you can breath then you are dreaming. Is this correct, the "nose" trick that I keep reading about? I assumed it was as simple as that. But in my dream when I did it I couldn't breath, and then after a few seconds of pinching I realized that I was indeed breathing, andt that I really had no control of my breathing. It seemed to be regulated by how my actual self (my asleep self) was breathing. Is this accurate? Or is it just a strange dream event?

After a while of LDing I had a false awakening. I had another dream later in the night and did the same RC, and the exact same pattern happened, I couldn't breath, then I felt my sleeping self breathing.

So is that what's it's supposed to be like?

Whenever I suspect that I'm dreaming I us the "nose pinch" RC. I have never experienced anything like you discribe though. Usually I pinch and breath just fine and then I get worried that maybe its not a dream and I am just not pinching my nose hard enough so I pinch and pinch until I'satisfied.
Everyone is different though and it seems that it still worked for you because eventually you could breath and you knew you were dreaming right? Congratulations on the LD.

I am the same way, I usually only have LD's when I can sleep in a few hours later than normal. When I can sleep in I have about a 50/50 chance of LDing - execpt for the current dry spell I am having, which is strange because I am done school now and sleeping in every day. Hmmmm...... :hrm:
