View Full Version : Semi-paralysis Nightmare

Every once in a while I'll have this nightmare where I'm semi-paralysed (I can move very very slowly if I put a lot of effort into it). It used to appear randomly, but now it seems to have started recurring almost every night. I don't think that this is "sleep paralysis", because as soon as I wake up, I can move again. Every time I find myself in this predicament, I try to perform a reality test. The strange thing is that last night when I performed a reality test by trying to look at my bedside clock, it was unplugged in the dream! I didn't remember unplugging it, so that caused me to become lucid, although I was in too much of a panic to calm down and control the dream, so I freaked out until I woke up. When I wake up, my head seems to be very hot.

Has anybody had this before? Was my brain actually trying to prevent me from performing a reality check by not letting me see a clock?

I used to get that but it wasn't really recurring. In a way you should be happy as it can be classed as a dream sign and help you become lucid.
Next time it happens look around and try to see something completely unrealistic to help induce LD's. Or think "If I'm dreaming a cat will appear in the corner."

Hope that helps :)

Thanks for the reply. I'll try that, but this particular dream sign seems too frightening to be able to stay in the dream... but I'll try :)

By any chance, do you remember having eaten or having drunk milk just before going to bed when you had these dreams? For the past three days, I've been eating a bowl of cereal or two with milk right before bed.
