I think it must be dark chocolat. Did some searching on google (chocolat biochemically identical to being in love?), a lot of research suggests that chocolat activates certain areas of the brain (same as being in love). But for those effects you'll need to eat a decent amount of pure dark chocolat, not a mars bar or milk chocolat, the darker the better.
Also, if you do a search on 'chocolat' you'll find a previous topic, with a lot of replies (8 pages if I remember correctly), some good results actually.
I thought of this yesterday, will try it today, if something spectacular happens I'll let you know.

Haha, I just realized I answered to a topic that stopped over half a year ago.
But I did buy myself a big bag of really dark chocolat (nestles 'noir intense', minimum of 70% cacao substance), I'll eat as much as I can tonight, see if it makes a difference. I usually never eat chocolat, can't remember the last time I did.
So, Dodobird, did you ever notice a difference in your dreams related to eating chocolat?

Dark chocolate is a more pure form of chocolate, it is better for you.
Both are fattening before bed.
There are other alternatives I think that would be better. Not better tasting though.

actually coffee and chocolate tastes good!
and i hate coffee!
Um so far when I've eaten chocolate (easter) I hadn't eaten it for like half a year before that or more, my dreams weren't that vivid or anything (although I think my dream recall has been going down lately). However chocolate has the chemical phenylethylamine which is great for unrequited love! So it can have benefits even if it doesn't help your dreaming. Anyway, I'm pretty sure dark chocolate is better because I think the lighter one has less actuall chocolate in it.
chocolatE !

I didn't test what it does for dreams.
dark chocolat contains a chemical that makes you fall in love - with dark chocolat. :bigteeth:

Well, I ate about 100 grams of the dark chocolat last night, tasty, made me feel real good, very nice, but no effect on my dreams.
Maybe I should eat more?

I would assume that the darker the chocolate the better, as it has more chocolate and less other stuff, and is therefore stronger, and will have a heavier effect. If you don't like very dark chocolate (I love it :)), then eat a less dark chocolate, but I think you can get more effects with darker chocolate as it is more concentrated and powerful.
I've heard before that Chocolat can give vivid dreams. The reason for this must be the substances that Cacao, from which Chocolat is made, contain. As far as I know they are: Theobromine & Oestrogen( However that's spelt: it's the main Female Hormone just like Testosteron is the main Male hormone )
In most Chocolat bars that are sold these days alot of sugar, conservatives, creme, milk and other Bullshiat are added and they will probably not contain enough of the Active Substances Cacao yields.
To get a good source for these Substances I suggest buying real Cacao. A good sourse for pure Cacao beans is this site: Maya Ethnobotanicals: Theobroma Cacao (http://www.maya-ethnobotanicals.com/product_info.phtml/herbid_222/category_search)
