I've played the drums for about 4 years now...just now getting into double bass though, which really sucks. I have yet to get some pedals..

i played drums in elementary school. i was pretty bad. i had to go to a concert once with a music class from another school. luckily they had a drummer too, so i just made it look like i was hitting my drums while he hit his. i don't think anyone caught on. :laughhard:

Why are you playing the double bass if you don't want to? Lol that's funny icedawg. People say I'm good though. My music teacher wants me in the "jazz band"... all of our school bands ... SUCK SOOO MUCH.

I was almost laughing my ass off during our concert...

anybody else have to play those awful recorders in elementary school? ugh... like 1 kid in 10 could actually carry a tune, and they were just chalk full of the saliva from kids from like 10 years ago. UGH.

HAHA PICK ME! Ya I played them. Here's a little story...

Well, it starts like this. My brother always has and still does get pissed when I want something or do something the same as him. He wanted to play trumpet, and I did and stuff like that. (As a matter of fact the reason I played the bass instead of guitar was because my brother was playing guitar (I wanted to play guitar) and he told me to play something else...)<<<<Parenthasee inside Parenthasee... Anyway... I desperately wanted to play an instrument... So when we got the recorders, I had mad skill after like a month... I was the first one to finish my book. Everyone got pissed because I practiced so much (how sad is that lol). Anyways, during Music class it was sooo funny because we did it one page at a time and it took us like 2 classes to get through one page. Everyone kept screaching and stuff. I had these super easy rythms (supereasy nowadays) and those were hard for me. I knew like every note... I was a mad recorder player. Sorry for bringing back evil memories...

PS: My stupid as* music teacher who has know clue what she is doing (like my math teacher :D ) told us that the recorders help with other instruments with the notes and fingering and stuff. We don't use treble clef or holes on bass.

double bass = two pedals on the bass drum rather than one. mostly used in metal music.

I started playing the Shakuhachi, but the one I got was cheap and had a very hard time of getting the sound right, oddly enough its like a recorder in a way, the hole positions are somewhat the same, it dosent have a mouthpeice though... its a peice of bamboo, with one end having a notch made of bone, its like blowing into a beer bottle and getting a sound, lol I can play tunes on bottles now kuz of it, coronas have a nice sound, so to guinness bottles.

Advertising on other forums is certainly encouraged. We have a ridiculous amount of available space and bandwidth. The board has only been up since June, and I wasn't actively participating in it then, thus it took time for those that would encourage conversation to show up. If you view the 4 pages of threads in General Discussion, you'll see a noticeable trend of increasing replies from page 4 to page 1. I'm surprised this many people are posting here actually. Dunno how much more it really could grow.

I played bass guitar in a college jazz band. I still play when I get a chance. The Ex-winch hocked my Peavy t-40. That kinda crap is why she is an EX-winch. I wanna get a fretless bass. Those are cool...a lil tricky to play, but still cool. Richenbacher bass guitars are excellent basses but cost a fortune. I like the Haufner Beetle bass too. I love music and have played all kinds...country, rock, jazz, classical etc. I played tuba in a university faculty ensemble and in a symphony orchestra for many years. When not doing that, I might be playing bass at a recording session, or playing the squeezbox with a polka band at The Hoffbrau. That was fun. 50 bucks a night and all the beer we could handle! I took up the Scottish Great Highland bagpipes a few years ago and began banjo last year. Banjo is a lotta fun and is way easier than it looks. Music is great! Its something you can do all your life.

I play guitar, never in a band though. I have it since '98 never got good though... too ambitious. As soon as I learned to tune the damn thing I wanted to learn Maiden riffs, when I finally was getting them down I skipped to Kalmah, In Flames, Eternal Tears of Sorrow and Dark Tranquillity. Kind of getting there, but I'm still better at LDing, and i'm a lousy LDer.
