Sometimes just before I go to sleep I'll hear a loud CRACK! or a pop noise snap that I hear mentally...and it's REALLY loud to me. Also I'll sometimes see a flash of light...makes me wonder if there there is something wrong with my brain? Like maybe a nerve issue? Should I see a doctor for this?

It seems like you are expieriencing signs of a WILD

Another possibility is hypnagogia, which is imagery/sounds/tactile sensations when falling asleep. Most WILDers experience this, although it does sometimes happen without trying to do a WILD.

It basically means that your more conscience as your body falls asleep, so you start getting the hypnagogia.

I get this kind of stuff too .. when it cracks so really loud it feels like I already knew it is going to crack within the next miliseconds, but since this is such a short period of time I hear the crack and at the same time I feel like I knew I will hear this crack .. sort of like when having a deja-vu.
This does occur when you are almost not conscious anymore - you are on your way to sleep ... sometimes I have a big ass twitch in all of my body .. I feel like I am getting lifted off the bed a couple of centimeters .. I also get that when not even being conscious anymore ..
Must have to do with you becoming unconscious and your body adapting this state.
