View Full Version : What Is Hi Exactly?

Throughout my whole lucid dreaming experiences, I think I've seen HI, but I'm not entirely sure. I've never seen like, actual people, I've sort of seen like...shadows, kind of. I've never actually seen vivid scences like you would in a dream.
There was one time where I saw a bit of a picture, but I fell asleep before I could try and do anything.
Lately, I've just been lying down, concentrating on my breathing, and I try and let my mind just relax. There was one time where I felt like I was going down, but I didn't see any HI, and I fell asleep.
Other than that one time, I've always fell asleep while just trying to let HI come to me.
So, what does HI look like exactly? If you can describe it, that'd be great.
The reason I ask this, is because I'm going to try to do a WILD soon, but since I'm not exactly sure what HI is like, I figured it'd be good to know what it's like before you try.

Hey Blackberry.
I had a rare successful WILD last night, so I'll describe what I saw. At first it was just swirls and lights, then I thought (dreamed) I was stacking wood, and I knew I was about to go to far and fall asleep, so I woke back up. Then I started over, and pretty soon I saw a picture that was like an old-fashioned postcard. It had a picture of a cowboy on a horse rearing back, and it was very realistic and I just looked at it for a minute. Then the cowboy turned his head and winked at me, and I knew I must be dreaming, because a picture winked at me. I know that doesn't make sense, but I thought I was looking at a picture. Then I was in a void, but I knew I was dreaming, so I tried to stay calm and I successfully went into an LD.
That is my experience, I don't know how typical that is.

When you had that WILD experience, did it seem like you were actually dreaming, or was it just like...thoughts kind of?

It's hard to describe, but for me the first part of the WILD is like watching a movie; it is detailed like a dream, but I am not in it, just observing, and I was not really asleep because I knew (mostly) what was going on (I mean that I knew that I was laying bed, seeing something that wasn't really there). Like a dream though, I don't really pick what I am seeing, it just is what it is. Then, when I realized I was dreaming, the picture disappeared and I had to try to "find" a dream to be in. I have lost it at this point before. If I was better at control, I could have gone into a better dream, but instead it was just my usual low-level control LD.
I was inspired, and tried to WILD during a nap today, but I never got past the point of my thoughts drifting towards weird disjointed things. I guess that is the first step, your thoughts kind of go out of your control and all of a sudden you realize you are thinking about something really weird, but you are not asleep and snap out of it as soon as you realize what's happening. Then, if you make it thru that part, the pictures start, and then you can start to be aware without instantly coming out of it, altho it is still hard at that point not to ruin it. The hardest part of all is to go "into" the dream itself. Really the only other WILD that I had that I got to the point of really seeing things, I saw like a little movie in a spotlight, of people dancing, but I couldn't get into the dream, it stayed like a movie.
I have been on my back to do these, which is not my natural sleeping position. Today my arms fell asleep, I think that interfered.
Hope this helps. It is hard to explain. I think I will go read Billy Bob's thing or a tutorial to try to understand it more.

I haven't been too successful WILD-wise yet, but I did see some HI once, I barely saw any swirling, but saw a tunnel vision view of a scene. I just suddenly noticed that everything was black apart from this blurry view of a room, right in the front of my vision. At this point, I got too conscious and woke up.

That always happens to me when I lay very still for half an hour (I don't fall asleep very easily), and if I keep staying still, I have a very powerful desire to roll over. Do you know of any way to stop this?
I've been trying to go for WILDs lately, but LDing always seems an uphill struggle with my brain (I wish it wouldn't battle against me).

I sure don't; I always have that problem too. I have tried to keep WILDing but I fall asleep on my side.

I know, same here. At least you get another chance every night, I keep telling myself.

usually when i feel myself falling asleep i look at a fixed point in the room and open my eyes every couple of minutes and make it a point to keep opening my eyes, but still try to sleep, if suddenly i open my eyes and im not in my room or the objectt has moved in some way thats how i know im dreaming. This worksbest with my ceiling fan
Oh and also i use the "STAY LUCID" tecnique of actually saying remain lucid, stay lucid outloud in my dream once i realise i am. Works for me. Good luck! :)

That sounds like the reverse blinking method, recently described. I didn't think about doing it and waiting for something to change; I think I'll try that.
