Have you talked to a doctor about these episodes? What does he/she suggest? I'm curious to know if doctors generally recommend medication right off the bat, or if they have other suggestions for de-stressing.
What are you stressed about? What runs through your mind when you can't sleep? What things have you tried already?

I've had touble with insomnia on and off for most of my life. Some things that help me are regular excersise, regular meditation, and proper diet. Also, if I'm physically stressed I take a couple valerian root pills (an herbal suppliment that promotes muscle relaxation) before I go to bed.
Something that will trigger insomnia for me is if I procrastinate on getting something done that needs to get done. I tend to think about it as I'm going to sleep and wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it.

I know what it is. It really sucks. We're too nervous these days. We shouldn't take everything so seriously and emotionally.
But easier said than done...

I rarely get Insomnia, but sometimes before big events like the First Day of School, or Christmas, etc, I'll get excited or worried about random crap and end up only getting an hour of sleep, with about 5 minute intervals because I wake up about 5 minutes after I fall asleep if I'm nervous.

It's to the point where some nights my bf is suggesting, "Why don't you take..." and I say, "No!" and he goes, "Why not?" and I said, "I lsot my dreams once, I'm scared of losing them again..."
Some nights though, especially after a crazy dream, I just need a rest. I can't NOT lucid sometimes. I'll be lucid sometimes and know I'm dreaming but I like to not take controll sometimes and that's usually what bites me in the ass. I refuse control and it doesn't always turn out in my favor.

I have trouble sleeping too, mostly because of stress, and I think about really pointless things as soon as I close my eyes. Sometimes I'll only get about 2-3 hours of sleep per night.
I'd suggest taking melatonin. It's a natural hormone already in your body that promotes sleep, and it's helped me a great deal. It shouldn't disrupt your lucidity. I've had a couple lucids while taking it. It's actually made me have more vivid, but sometimes really bizarre dreams.
