View Full Version : Things that often appear in my dreams... anyone know?
These things seem to be recurring in my dreams.. but they're not really normal so I'm wondering if anyone has any idea if/what they mean.
First thing is a buffalo charging at me. The first time I had that dream, I thought it was unusual and kind of funny.. but then I had a couple more dreams like that. If it's any significance, I think I charged back at the one in the first dream, and ran away from the rest.
Next I think is a little more normal. I've had three or four dreams where I get to school and realize either I forgot to change out of my pajama pants, I wore the same shirt I wore the day before, and I even had one where I forgot to wear underwear. Each time I skipped class to go buy new clothes.
Is there any meaning to either of these? I just thought that maybe there was something since I keep having similar dreams. Maybe someone here has an idea.

hrm. dunno about that one. I would have originally suggested a possible phobia of buffalo, but you stated that you charged after it the first time. Perhaps you just had so much fun doing so that you've willed yourself to have this dream over and over?

I think we've all had similar dreams to that, especially when we've got a lot that we're apprehensive or anxious about. It makes sense of course: if you're worried about a number of things, this will take its toll on your dreams and you'll dream about situations that you'd like to avoid. My guess is dreams like that won't occur during periods of your life with little stress and worry.

Though other people can give a broad analyisis of your dreams, it's really up to you to interpret your own dreams. Someone else's interpretation can be totally different to yours, so basicly you gotta do some searching to find out what they mean to you (man this sounds corny)

I've been out of school for years now, but still have the dream sign about either forgetting where my locker was, or forgetting the combination.
I know mine is the standard anxiety dream, but DreamCoil is right. Only you can interpret the meaning.
But hey, it's a lot of fun and gives you something to do on your morning commute!

when you charged the buffalo the first time you dreamt about it, what was the result? did u "win"? was there even an outcome?
what was your feeling the next times you dreamt it and you ran away instead? were you scared or did u just matter-of-fact turn and run? did u fear harm or did you run because you didnt want the challenge again? did u run because you knew could charge it and didn't care to take that test again?
buffalos are huge. people are small, in comparison. a human being could never beat a buffalo in a charge. did you overcome some obstacle in your life where you felt all odds were against you? or some obstacle others thought you could not beat, and you won?
what are your general feelings about the buffalo? how does that change when it charges you? is it female or male?
the clothes dream is extremely common. like the others said, anxiety in the waking life can bring that one about. i notice i have that type of dream when i have a big change in life - like learning a new job, or about to move to a different house, or go on a big trip (even a good trip/vacation). i think its about feeling vulnerable. more vulnerable than usual because of the normal insecurity of a new situation.
i want to hear more about the buffalo!! do tell.

p.s. okay y'all, bring on the "trip" jokes.

I think that both times the dream didn't really have an outcome. I must have woken up, or just changed dreams or something.
I don't really know if this makes a difference: The first one, where I charged back (sounds so silly, doesn't it?) was with my friends; the second time, I was with my dad (who I don't really like or get along with). Any significance to this?

dude, did you trip and hit your head on a buffalo or what?
Anyway, yes, that buffalo dream is interesting!
You know, this is what I was talking about before...several people often have these outlandish dreams, yet others often have experienced something similar. This clothes thing is a good example...I've never dreamt anything like that. Same with not being able to scream, run, punch, whatever...or falling off a building and waking up at the last moment...I haven't had any of these common dreams. Then again, my unique dreams often seem more enjoyable than some of these commonly shared ones, but I still can't help but be discouraged because I bet it's going to be the same case with my dream signs: mine will be completely different, and I'm having a difficult time picking out any distinct recurrences. *sigh*
So, erin, have you had the buffalo dream three times now? Well, in any case, I don't know what to tell ya. It does sound symbolic of some sort of conflict/struggle. No outcome? Perhaps it signifies a real struggle that has yet to be resolved? Think of unresolved issues... any with the people that appeared in the dream?..or even with buffalo? Hmm, well I agree that you are the only person who can figure it out...we may be able to help you figure it out, though.

Hmmm. I think you already know the answer. Read what you wrote! (a.k.a. "you brought it up")
Now, you tell ME, what is the significance of being powerful around your friends and avoidant around your dad (who you don't really like or get along with)? Hmmmmm?
good job.

No, Paikea, I posted a self-introductory topic on the 'Attaining Lucidity' board...but I only briefly described myself and my experiences. Some of the dreams are long, so if you're interested I should probably make another topic...that way I won't spam up erin's nice buffalo topic! :D

The buffalo may be one of your dreamsigns. Next time a buffalo charges at you, hold out you hand and demand that he stop. Ask him who he is and what he represents and then demand a gift as penance for him attemting to attack you. The gift may be a song and dance(by a buffalo! That would be funny!)..the gift may be poetry, food, water, beautiful scenary or something material. I am just beginning to learn to interact with dream characters. It's really cool to take control.
