i just started but i can't seem to actually remember dreams.
the tutorials suggest waking up during/after the REM period, but eventually is it possible to remember your dreams when you wake up in the morning, not necessarily just after the REM period?

keep a dream journal. it really does help. and when u wake, concentrate and think "where was i just now? what was i dreaming about. because u WERE dreaming."

ok, my suggestion for that is to simply tell yourself that when you go to sleep, you will dream. when you wake up, you will remember. then simply go to sleep.

If you wake up and can't remember, don't worry...there's always another night.

Uh I wrote that tutorial (dream recall) and I said waking up during the middle of the night is ONE WAY to remember your dreams. If you read the entire thing you'll find that there are many ways to remember your dreams. Personally, I just added the waking up thing for people with very poor recall. I just wake up in the morning. Imran must have poor recall if he has to concentrate hard to remember "1 or 2" dreams in the morning. Personally, when I'm dream journaling, I can remember usually around 5-7 dreams in the morning (including epic and very long, detailed dreams mostly).

I really suggest reading the ENTIRE tutorial, because it is not only possible to remember your dreams when you wake up, but most people do it.

My only little tip is if you start waking up in the morning, don't go back to sleep again. Sometimes if i wake up at 7, i'll wake up again at 8 after going to sleep, then fall asleep again and wake up at 9:30, then wake up at 12, then maybe one more time and wake up at 12 30. Basically, you are very likely to forget most of your dreams, ESPECIALLY the ones you had in your "main dreaming" period. And if you remember a dream, this is something you have to find out for yourself.... I mean, don't spend too much time recalling your dreams in your bed, because you'll start to forget them, but don't jump out of bed to write down your dreams. There is a fine line between that.
