I was taught to trey and acheive that in my Ia-do class, I have yet to be totaly aware here but in my dreams I can do it!!

How many have you had this dream =)

I had a really good one but I cant find what I wrote down if I find it i will post.

Click on the movie link, it may take a lil while but its a funny example of the obove topic.

thats a pretty funny cartoon.... but, what does it have to do with dreaming? and, by the way, not to sound rude, but what are you talking about?

Being aware of your environment relates to reality. Zensha is the art of being completely aware of your surroundings, many martial arts classes hone your senses, and to a point precognition, as to what opponents might do next.

When faced with many opponents you must be totaly aware of them and what they are doing, because in the real world they dont attack like ninjas in the movies... (one at a time) they attack all at once. You must determine the target with the highest threat to you, then giving the positions and threat of your other attackers you might only be able to stun one attack another go back to the first... its complicated...

As I was saying, I have yet to be able to perfect this art here in this world but I am able to do it in my dreams.

And I asked how many of you had dreams like this, where you are faced with many opponents but are able to come out triumphant, probably because you were totaly aware of your environment.

And the link, I thought was a funny exapmle of such dreams =)

ah i see, ok.

how many fights like this have you been in in real life?

Serinanth

street fights none, thankfully
Sparring, once yes =)

You dont have to be in a fight to practice being totaly aware of your environment, try engaging falling leaves on a windy october day =)

being aware at work, comes in handy, because most of the people here arent (aware that is), they back into you whip around corners crash into walls.. All the while carrying a Lot box full of wafers.. (microchips are made on 8 or 12 inch disks of silicon)
Depending on what product it is... the Banias Centrino processor, the box can have a potential worth of around 1.8 million... its funny watching new people get all nervous once you tell them that.

We focused on being aware of your environment in Ia-do, because with a sword you have to know where your reach is, where the ceiling is, the width of a hall stuff like that.

There are many more uses for being aware of your environment than fighting!
Believe it or not, whenever I need to find my family in Wal-Mart, I often use these techniques.
I first close my eyes and get very still. I enter a lightly relaxed state and visualize my conciousness expanding to fill an area much larger that myself. It's really an interesting sensation.
When I feel that I am ready, I open my eyes and begin walking.
Using this method, I can always find them in a fraction of the time.

I have also used this method in tracking people in the mountains.
Try it sitting on a rock beside a stream or deep within the woods. It is amazing how much we filter out.

nah, you had a reason for that...being a post whore is doing something like what HazMat did at another forum, his posts would go something like this:

ooc!

ooc ooc!

(and later)

I think thats one of the inherent problems with society right now, they filter out so much of our existance they.. well they miss out on what life is.

Fighting can be fun though, too... It's like dancing, only you're using more improvisation. I often have those kinds of dreams, Serinanth (as you already know) In some of them, it's like the scene in Matrix (one) where Neo is sparring with Morpheus during training ("is that air you're breathingf?") It's almost as if you are mapping out your entire attack strategy for beating everyone in the room all in one instant... like connect the dots with all your opponents' weak spots/pressure points and then executing the strategy... During these moments, if I can call them moments, you are aware of everything... yes SeekerDave has good points too :!: This has also helped in allowing me to truly create my dream landscapes too -forming mountains, growing fields of flowers, :sunflower: and forming weather patterns...

Thanks evangel you made me remember my dream last night. I was like the sickest fighter of all time and I did crazy moves and stuff the problem is I can't remember that much because once I stop doing dream journal I can't remember dreams that well.

Maybe try running over your dream in your mind before you are completely awake (before you open your eyes, do a quick review of your dream in your mind) This helps me so that I don't lose data after waking up and begin to be distracted by sensory input. I find that if I wake up and do other things like getting drinks of water or standing up and stretching, etc., I sometimes begin to lose a lot of recall, so I got into the habit of reviewing...
