Definitely not the smartest thing anyone's ever done, but damn, cut the man some slack.

AWw. At least the dude tried! Seriously. He thought he was helping someone. Poor guy.

I know, right? I mean what real reason do they have for charging this guy?
Would they have still charged him if there really was a woman in there, being raped? Hmmm....The possibility, alone, is kinda disconcerting.

He had good intentions even if he did rush into things. Yeah as O said, its better that it was a mistake and not the other way round.

Quick question, where did the sword come from? I still think he did the right thing though.

Hopefully it's a very old weapon--so at least the weapons charges can be removed. Or however that works in regards to the law.

apparently it was a family heirloom... to be honest, i found it kinda funny in a way.
He was trying to help, and he blew it all out of proportion...
Course, not having a phone didn't help.

Wow. So, we've all learned that when watching porn, we should probably not have the sound up so high.

or check the thickness of your walls.
But really, how loud did he have this video.. and it says somthing that he was watching a porno of a women apparently being assaulted (i.e., SCREAMING for help, etc.)? In my opinion, the "victim" came off as a real a$$ in the little video clip they had of the "assault".
I admire the neighbor for trying to help.. I mean the "attacker" could have had a gun for all he knew. I hope they simply make him pay for the damages and let it go at that.
P.S.. If I had to pick one of those two guys to have as a neighbor.. I know which one I'd choose!

It seems to me by how the charges are being pressed the two neighbors have a bit of a history.

It did seem a bit weird to me. I mean, this guy doesn't have a phone, uses a family heirloom as a weapon and obviously can't have spoken to his neighbor much if he thinks he's capable of rape.
I still figure he should've got arrested. Yeah, OK, don't charge him with anything really - people make mistakes - but I would feel a bit iffy if I was held at sword point for any reason and then just...let the guy walk off.
